Very nice! I once bought a big Wilton cake decorating kit, but I never got into it for some reason. I'm jealous of those who can do cakes like yours.  :)

I've been busy with a visit from my family. We went to the rain forest last weekend, and I got this shot.

Thank you! The trick is learning the little flowers and moving up to more complex ones as your skills develop. Then you move on to coloring them with chalk powders to get layers of colors for more realistic effects.

Your photo is gorgeous! That would make a beautiful mural.

Wintermute

Been playing live, semi-professionally since 1992. Stints in six groups and 18mo on the road solo at one point. Haven't played live in 2 years now. Since 2010 I have been doing indie film scores as a side job. So that is my main artistic outlet I guess. I have been doing some photography since 2000 but only recently took some commercial jobs. Fell into it because I submitted an architecture photo I took on vacation 11 months ago in a contest and won. Got me enough visibility to get a few side jobs. Doubt it will progress past that though. Completely accidental and I am not willing to put more money into gear.

In Ohio it is 10 degrees and there is a 5 inch blanket of snow everywhere.  That rain forest looks like heaven right now.  Thanks for sharing.

The rain forest was beautiful, but it was also quite cold, down to about 30 degrees. But once you start walking around there, you forget about the weather and get lost in the scenery. It always reminds me of prehistoric times. I'm so glad I only have to drive about 35 miles to get there.

I started playing around a bit with HDR photography. About to head out in the rain today to find something to shoot.

Those are beautiful, Aldous!  Was Luther a relative, inspiration, or both?

I was bored on Sunday, so I went to the state capitol site and wandered around. It was really cool that we were allowed to go in and have mostly unrestricted access to the actual capitol building. This is in the traffic circle outside the capitol.

finally finished this. A guy I know made a tutorial, so I thought I'd give it a go. Came out pretty nice and semi-realistic looking.

That reminds me of Gyro Gearloose's Little Helper in the Disney Comics

That's really cool!

I have recently started doing some street photography. I'm still trying to get comfortable doing it, but I think these two shots are decent.

Aldous, If you ever make it down to Key West  (go in summer) . There is a Cereus peruvianus next to Hemmingway's house(I think) that is a huge cluster about 30 feet wide and 20 or so feet high. Night blooming Cereus. hundreds of blooms any given night around the full moon.I too love cactus but lost my collection years ago.
It is the biggest colony I have ever seen, must be over 100 years old.

While other parts of the country are having terrible weather, it's spectacular here in the Pacific Northwest. The trees are starting to bloom, and flowers are too. All my windows are open, and the heater is off. Spent hours out photographing this weekend. Here is our Mt. Rainier yesterday.
