I could keep this going for awhile with analog kid and it might turn funny but I would have to be offensive and it would take over this thread for awhile which would be lame for everyone not into milking the lolcow or buying diapers.

Salacious fact: MV's kids have outgrown diapers. He buys them for "recreational" purposes now. That's right, he's doing this with YOUR donations and Adsense bucks.
You know... Now that you mention it, I don't recall him ever stating a size.  Could be that they are adult size XL?

I posted this in the MitD thread but it's probably more appropriate here:  have a look at the criteria for identifying a shill at the bottom - how closely does that match some of what we've been seeing here?  I'm all for free speech, but if we're dealing with shills, that's a whole separate issue because in that case there's a deliberate intent to disrupt real dialogue:

Article about private online covert operations:

“’We work on influencing people’s opinions here,’ is how he described it. The company’s clients paid them to post on Internet message boards and popular chartrooms, as well as in gaming forums and social networks like Facebook and MySpace. Who were these clients? ‘Oh, various people,’ he said vaguely. ‘Sometimes private companies, sometimes political groups.’”

Article about government online internet manipulation programs:

"Harvard Law Professor Cass Sunstein, a close Obama adviser and the White House’s former head of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, wrote a controversial paper in 2008 proposing that the US government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-”independent” advocates to “cognitively infiltrate” online groups and websites, as well as other activist groups. Sunstein also proposed sending covert agents into “chat rooms, online social networks, or even real-space groups” which spread what he views as false and damaging “conspiracy theories” about the government. Ironically, the very same Sunstein was recently named by Obama to serve as a member of the NSA review panel created by the White House, one that â€" while disputing key NSA claims â€" proceeded to propose many cosmetic reforms to the agency’s powers (most of which were ignored by the President who appointed them)."

Article about defending against online shills (also attached below):

“You can identify shills in several ways.

1.)  Their profiles rarely have photos of themselves on their profiles or much personal information.

2.)  They use foul, offensive and often racist language without needing to. In part to overcompensate for their lack of knowledge or interest in the specific subject, and in part to stigmatise those weaker persons who are scared to be called names online.

3.)  They attempt to incite strong or angry responses.

4.)  They frequently make illogical accusations.

5.)  Their arguments often  don’t have any logic, don’t match the facts or create an false dilemma which doesn’t exist except in their own minds.

6.)  They often repeat useless facts that make them sound intelligent on their face, but if you research them or know the subject already you know they aren’t.

7.)  They will do ‘overkill’ by commenting on more than one post in the thread at a time. This is done in order to barrage the group so that each of the main players in the conversation are individually attacked and therefore less likely to come to the defence of others.”

I also do not believe that Art burned bridges.  People are apt to be very understanding.  The secret is to get him back on the airwaves/internet right away. It would be great to just get a massively large group of fans who could alternate playing bodyguard in 4 hr shifts.  Maybe if they have a license to carry a concealed weapon it would be legal to use it when inside the Bell compound.  They could take this stalker fuck out legally.  But I don't know the laws.

The counter problem I see however is that Art may not be able to continue with MITD in the U.S. for fear of some covert and unexpected attack somewhere down the line, which just blows!...

It could be... But may of the "fans" will have to look in the mirror.  There was an awful lot of negativity even before the influx of new members.  I would argue that "we" (the long time members") killed the site...

If anyone killed it, it was Art Bell

I believe my first thought upon signing up for bellgab was "what a bunch of assholes" before I proceeded to defend George in the GNS thread. I subsequently figured out that George was not a nice guy and deserved what he was getting, but the point is that it took seeing George acting slimy to turn me. The specific moment being when he interviewed Oates. There is a reason George takes the heat he does.

I haven't seen any of that with Art. All Art's done is get shot at, threatened and then made bad decisions under duress. Still, some people here have either outright trolled because they like to play in shit piles, or they have simply convinced themselves that there is more to the story without any reason to suspect so because deep down they feel like Art screwed them over somehow. Trolling from either of those points of view boil down to a simple desire to fuck with an old man in a really bad situation trying to look out for his family. I find that tasteless, at best.

While there are no angels on Bellgab, the current crop of trolls here are true fucking lowlifes. The worst kind of person this world produces. It's times like this that I hope karma exists and when they're laying in bed dying of dick cancer they wonder "if only I had been a little bit better of a human being this might not have happened".
I think there is enough data in the Art quitting incident to stimulate speculation.  People questioning various aspects of the story was met with, instead of polite discussion, derision - by synchs.  Of course that lead to the speculators being more entrenched in their opinions.  Art does not help because rather that come out with a complete logical progression of detailed events, he seems to be reactive and wanting to say a lot by actually saying little.

I think Art enjoys controversy.  As things die down he will probably be back, stirring the pot.

Most people think Heather is not that good and Art has never mentioned why he chose her.  I don't listen.

I could maybe see hoping they, themselves are trolled or whatever- But wishing a painful and slow death on someone because they offended you on a forum is actually pretty sick- Assuming you really mean that and arent just going for dramatic effect.

I think all Bellgabbers of good will should do a mass intention experiment and hope you get dick cancer and One's yaks drop dead.

What did DarKPenguiN do to piss people off so much? I don't even remember.

Has anyone written a book called "The BellGab Conspiracy" or something similar? That's a show right there, although I think Heather could manage to make it sound even dumber than otherwise possible.

We're really not important enough for any powers that be to bother with. Personally, I think that's a good thing.

Its a crazy world we live in.

I didn't even listen to MV's conversation with Art.  Some people on this forum are interesting and smart and sometimes I learn things, so I hang around.

The Art replacement - to me it requires someone with a broad knowledge, someone who can associate information from different disciplines.  That takes years of a person being engaged in and curious about the world.

Yeah honestly, from what I remember I think you're catching a lot of heat here but I don't remember you saying or do anything overtly trollish. You've fucked with some people here but who doesn't? I think people are confusing you with an account named "DP" who said the "slanderous" stuff or whatever Art wanted MV to deal with.

Don't be so modest; if a crap site like Godlike Productions is important enough to somebody to hire shills to work on it, BellGab is important enough to some corporate media outlet to spend a few bucks here:

"The second binder was smaller, and it contained information specific to the web sites I would be assigned to. The sites I would work were: Godlike Productions, Lunatic Outpost, CNN news, Yahoo News, and a handful of smaller sites that rotated depending on need. As stated, I was NOT assigned to work ATS (although others in my group were), which is part of the reason I am posting this here, rather than elsewhere. I wanted to post this on Godlike Productions at first, but they have banned me from even viewing that site for some reason (perhaps they are onto me?). But if somebody connected with this site can get the message to them, I think they should know about it, because that was the site I spent a good 70% of my time working on."

What would the point be? SV gave MV the opportunity to ask off message questions but they weren't asked..not one, out of about a dozen.

the following are questions from sredni, all of which were asked either directly, indirectly, or were touched upon by art without being specifically asked.  most of sredni's other questions pertained to heather's inexperience or were predicated on the belief that art's stalker is a fabrication.  i wasn't interested in asking those questions myself because 1) i don't believe he's lying about the disturbances around his home, 2) nothing art would say is going to convince those who've made up their minds, and 3) i don't think heather's inexperience is going to be a subject of great interest to future listeners of the interview (there's more to this than the moment).

i know some of you are sick of hearing it, yet i can't help but return to the fact that there were 30 minutes of open phone lines at the end of the show for anyone to call in and pose the questions i didn't ask.  with over a week of advance notice prior to the airing of this interview, i don't understand why none of you showed up.  even the batshit hoagland stalker got through three times.

i had no desire to rake art over the coals so others can feel vicariously satisfied through my manufactured aggression and incredulity.

Quote
1) How did Art find BellGab? Did he type in 'George Noory sucks' like everyone else?

3) Why did Art change his mind about the direction for the show? It started out with the intention of being a small operation for a small group of fans, before turning into a larger enterprise with affiliates and a large deal in the works. He made a false start before the Sirius show, when he changed his mind saying that he was motivated by the wrong reasons (i.e to humiliate Noory). Wasn't the motivation behind all those affiliates simply to get back at Dave?

7) Is there an ongoing police investigation into the 'stalker', and, if so, what progress have they made?

9) How can Art be sure that staying off the air will keep the stalker off his back? Has he/she communicated with him, and, if so, has he informed the police?

10) If Art's safety is conditional in staying off the air, how can he make occasional appearances without putting his family in jeopardy?

11) If the 'stalker' was caught tomorrow, would he go straight back on the air?

12) How long does Art expect people to listen to a show hosted by someone who claims to be only 'keeping the seat warm'? Isn't there a point when Heather has to make the show her own or let the thing die?

13) What is the thinking behind 'documenting' incidents but not wanting them investigated? If the threat is serious enough to keep him from doing a show he 'loves' why isn't he making every effort to make sure the threat is ended?

14) If he has a good idea who the 'stalker' might be, has he told the police? You don't need to accuse someone, just suggest suspects and motives and let the police look into it for you. If he hasn't done so, then why not?

14) How much time needs to pass without incident before Art can be confident that the threat is not there any more? And will he then decide to go back on the air full-time?

I apologized for some shit I said to Art (mostly in private correspondence if i remember correctly) several years ago because I said some  pretty racist shit. The thing is, I talk racist anyhow even around my friends who come from a diverse background and give it right back-  But Art isnt my friend and what I said wasnt very nice.

i dont remember exactly what I said but that was years ago. I have nothing to apologize for this time around- I dont apologize for the trolling I did (not all my posts are trolling btw and at this point the majority probably arent), for being an asshole or offending anyone except certain posters.
Sorry if I offended you. I was sure I read some shit about Art's family history you posted. Maybe I am not remembering correctly. No one likes to be accused wrongly, I know
