ok...I'll bite...

I would like to believe that Art didn't make this all up...I truly would.

Problem is, if something did happen, if he was sleep deprived, emotional, afraid etc., I can understand him making a decision to "hang up the mic" under the former circumstances.

However what I don't get is, that at some point he realized he acted in haste ( again,  I would like to believe this as he wrote) and that he feels he "can't take it back", yet he didn't do anything about it when there was time to control the damage and save MITD if he truly wanted to be on the air.

Then we have the word semantics game: hanging up the mic for the last time doesn't mean retiring....then less than 24 hours later he is on the air with Heather, albeit from the inside of his home, BUT the reason he quit was because the danger to his family was allegedly him being on the air.

Then he quits BellGab...then he doesn't...then he quits BellGab again........etc.

Add to that the police report findings, the lack of reporting the threatening caller...and I guess the clincher for me was taking Asia out in the middle of the night with an alleged stalker being out there with a gun and taking a photo to post on FB, yet he did this without adding any additional security measures, stays in his home despite etc. It's all been said before.

So bottom line,  I lean toward that Art wanted out and embellished, if not made up a way to do so....for whatever reason, who will ever really know?

I would like to believe him, but none of this makes any sense ( to me), therefore I can't and that makes me sad, disappointed & leery of anything he will do or say again.

Whether we believe or don't, the show is dead, the "king" has left the building and if he ever does come back, there won't be but a handful of people there to greet him.....

well if this network survives  Art may do a show here and there over January  and if no other incidents happens   those appearances may increase maybe   --- because im not sure why heather hasn't changed the bumper music yet  that shows me   we unfortunately are in a hold pattern

This is where things are heading- because speech is scary.

A clampdown is coming online- No doubt. ive been seeing it with they way they've lied about gamergate and used a double standard. Recently a city councilwoman actually doxxed her own constituites who were opposed to "black Lives matters" and faced no repercussion because she is on the "approved" side of the information war.

Its actually a very interesting topic. The way things are moving is going to be censor heavy ,controlled narrative and shackling the hands of some while letting others run wild. happening on Twitter as we speak. In some cases where some are being banned for merely disagreeing with SJW's but SJWs are now free to send threats because "their feelings were hurt" without any fear of repercussions.

The internet as we know it is at its dusk.

We either have free speech or we do not.

This will bleed into real life as well. you can see it on the college campuses now. many are in favor of criminilizing speech if it hurts the feelings of certain groups- but only certain groups. White men can be offended with impunity as long as they arent gay and a 'protected class'.

Agree. Whatever happened to our grandparents generation's philosophy of "I do not agree with your opinion but I will fight to the death for you to have it." It's gone. Now we are all a bunch of special snowflakes who go to the ends of the earth to destroy someone who has pissed us off. It's disgusting.
I don't agree with DP's dragging Art's son into this mess. Lord knows Art has given us PLENTY of examples of how he plays with the truth and has the mentality of a 12 year old when someone makes him mad, without having to go THERE.

I like Art as a host but if you were to meet half your hero's you'd be strongly disappointed by their real life choices. Art is NO exception.

Art is a great broadcaster. He's also a flake and a drama queen

The difference was that our grandparents would have had to make these pronouncements in public where they could receive a punch in the nose if things got out of hand.  The right to say what you want also includes calling an asshole an asshole.  Hiding in the anonymity of the Internet it is easy to say things you wouldn't to another's face.

He's pulling in the bucks for Premiere so obviously he is doing the job for them..... AND he's still getting a pay cheque ...and likely a very nice one....

He is a perfect host for this dumbed down world we live in. He has an audience who think the sun shines out of his mouth and ass.

The world has changed a lot since many of us started following Art in the early '90's.

Most today don't want to think, don't want to read more than 2 sentences on any one topic...they want to be entertained in this all about me new world..hence FB, Twitter etc.

I think you would find most judges pretty lenient when an asshole gets punched for spouting off.  It is a minor offense anyway and worth the punishment for the lesson of incivility.

Hahaha I have 3 lawyers in my family. Assault is a violent crime and that's how the justice system views it. It's not 1950. And if you do get this magical lenient judge...you then have the fun civil suit.

LMAO...thanks for your summary and conclusions.

I can't really disagree, however Hoagie's a trip....makes me laugh and smile...and sometimes he really pulls of a really great through provoking show because other than his faces/monuments, he has a pretty open mind on many things.
