Maybe Art can liven things up with one last quitting for 2015.

Eh, I don't care one way or the other.  How am I doing?

I see what you mean; 20 pages of this would make riveting reading with my morning coffee.

The idea that people on a forum named after Art who've listened to him for years might lend him the same uncritical support they might a friend is so banal that it hardly deserves comment, let alone the exaggerated poses of supercilious horror some of you guys are affecting.

He isn't your friend. It's a commercial exchange - the man does a radio show and you, in turn, support him with your money. That's where it ought to stop. That doesn't mean that we have any special insight into the man as a human being, or his veracity. The sort of support you are describing sounds like infantilism to me.

Where one falls out in the debate over Art's stalker is a measure of cynicism, not intelligence, and I'm not at all sure your pose is a flattering one.

People are welcome to believe things without evidence, and we call it religion. What you are describing is close to a religious belief because it can't be disproved. You are welcome to believe it, just don't plume yourself that you are better than anyone else.

Quote from: K_Dubb on December 30, 2015, 12:22:28 PM
Since I am less cynical, I believe that those of you who know how truly dark the world is are just trying to initiate the rest of us gently, as evidenced by the soothing language you all employ.

I'd rather be cynical than be caught attempting that limp bit of irony. People do odd things all the time. It doesn't made them bad or mad, it makes them human and fallible. I can imagine Art doing something silly, regretting it, but having to continue because he is too far in to extricate himself. Or not. We just don't know.

Night Train

So...how many people still believe the stalker was real?

A lot fewer than two weeks ago, that's for sure.

Still the best measure of the insanity here. Heather gets away calling Dave a satanist that loves watching children get abused and it's applauded. Superfans have repeatedly wished Dave death here. We've had people talking about shooting DP, threaten that he's going to get whats coming to him. We've had repeated public efforts to troll Dave and Hoagland. Bring up something unpleasant about Art's history and all of a sudden it's an outrageous affront to established norms of decency here. This thread is literally tumblr for old people.

Post of the day.

Agreed....let me add my +1 to yours!

This is the first time checking this thread in a week. I'm not reading all those pages. I honestly just don't care anymore.

Shocked they would just quit when they couldn't control the message.

Birds of a fair weather feather...

This thread always had a whiff of opportunism. I'm not knocking it, it worked out for the current host. The gig has to be more fun than whatever she was doing before hosting the show.

He wants to prove to everyone that Art is a liar. The thing is even if he could do that, the devout here are not going to change their mind. And why should they? We all have our own perception of the truth. What I like about here is that all of us are free to express it.

But... but... but... If I can't make it like MyFace wall creating an echo chamber, I'll pout!
DON'T MAKE ME HOLD MY BREATH AND STAMP MY FEET!!1 I'll do it, I swear! After I make moar grand proclamations.

Fucking... Christ on a cracker.

I often enjoy your verbiage, so when I see it so overwrought and cumbersome I take it a nerve has been struck. That you'd casually dismiss the abhorrent nature of the hypocrisy outlined as 'uncritical support hardly deserving of comment' smacks of the kind of PR speak you found creepy and distasteful in that interview with Keith last week. [ insert carlin/hicks bit about soft language ] More than dismissal, it's endorsement. Also, if you find the soothing language of dissent curious, you need look no further than the reception of anything not unthinking praise to the tender fucking ears of the average superfan, which of course speaks more charitably of the cynic malcontents than it does the perpetually offended consensus devout.

God forbid that I should plume; I am a good child of Janteloven.

Yes, nobody knows.  But if I believe, i. e. tenuously conclude in the absence of evidence to the contrary, that Art is telling the truth because I like him, I will not feel inferior, either.  We favor those we like.  A worldly sophisticate like you can hardly be astonished or dismayed to find that predisposition here.

It really is the same garbage over and over. I came back yesterday to 20 new pages in here. 19.5 of them containing absolutely nothing of value.

Please show me anything of value posted on this site, other than the adsence.
Post something of real value, if you feel the site is so bereft of any meaningful value...

This place has always been a timesink, for us faggots.
Sometiems it's moar fun than others.

The sophisticated point here is that you do not, in fact, like Art Bell. You like his public persona. There is a very real difference between the two, and to forget this is a disservice to your self.

Further, the absence of evidence, is evidence. To forget or minimize this fact is a disservice to truth.

I never doubted the stalker, but not following through on the phoned in death threat......., still pondering that one.

It's pretty far from 'despicable.' It's damn near 'trivial.'

Yes, with the exception of the monumental dick-move of dragging Art Jr.'s sad history, into the debate, I'd say Art has been treated quite fairly, here... given the circumstances and his own, inflammatory actions.

I've never liked you, which has never had anything to do with your preference for taking it in the pooper. This is actually the first time you've seemed like a human being.

That's not the exception, that's the triviality. Bell has walked away off his career twice now, both times after the lives of his children were threatened, and you imagine the first incident is verboten? What the fuck?

Historical analysis presented as a "dick move" is pretty Orwellian, yo. Anything else you think should never be spoken of?

Praise MV.
Very good post!

It's all a big double standard here, it's an interesting show of dying fanaticism.

No, dragging the pain of his children into it, is not 'analysis', it's more akin to pulling the wings off of flies. There is more than enough rope available, without stooping to that. Sorry, but there are should be boundaries.

No, the real Art Bell, private person, does not exist, as much for lack of interest as for traditional notions of courtesy.

In a sense it's good for business. Because if given an adversary Art has been engaging. The page was hopping last night. Lots of clicks dicks.

I might be sorry I asked this but what is your take on all of this?

Repaired that for you.  Wait.  Or did I?  So difficult to tell the difference between clicks and dicks.
