By my calculation we have time for two, maybe three, changes of direction in that space.

Dr Who

Maybe so only time will tell.

Maybe so only time will tell.

You're leaving now
You're off the air

There's no disguising it
It really comes as a surprise
To find that you're going off the air

I see them now
Your stalker's there

You called the cops
And still they don't believe

They didn't even read the press releaseeeeee

Now, sure as the sheriff's office said
This show is over

Lost, like the reruns that used to tide, me over

I thought Keith said the contract had 30 days remaining, and the stations are playing Art re broadcasts, instead of Heather's live show...

Isn't she still doing a live show, though? I thought she was on last night?  The rebroadcasts I thought were for the stations who were only "obliged" to play Art Bell? I could be wrong.

Dr Who

I thought the deal was Heather was doing Monday and Tuesday live with the rest of the week as a re broadcast

30 days for the stations only. Re broadcasts only, no Heather. That's my understanding.

Yup the radio feed gets art replays and the internet stream gets heather live, so Art has time to fix this.

Dr Who

That at least is good news.

Ok, we're on the same page. Anything is possible.

Didn't Keith post that they have 30 days before the shutdown, alot can change before then.

By which time most/all affiliates will have a good sardonic laugh and give a collective:

Money talks and well they will know drama or not people will listen to Art live.

Update…. from Keith Rowland

Midnight in the Desert

12-14 UPDATE: I will run Midnight in the Desert w/Heather Wade on the Dark Matter Digital Network Internet stream for the next 30 days minimum. She will be in Art’s same time slot.

12-14 UPDATE: I’m obligated to continue feeding the terrestrial affiliate stations for the next 30 days, I will be feeding replays of Art Bell’s archives, to the affiliates over the XDS satellite system at the same time Heather will be in the Internet station.

Her shows will be added to the same Time Travelers archive as Art’s shows, so your current subscription will have Art’s old shows and these new ones. It’s up to you to continue to support the show with Heather by keeping your existing subscription or signing up again for the Time Travelers subscription, now at $4.99. After 30 days, we all will evaluate the financial situation of whether we can continue. I hope the subscriber base will maintain the show. We will do our part in reducing the costs.

Dr Who

I would even welcome Art back with Ed Dames as a guest.Ok well maybe not.

I wouldn't put much faith in that; Businesses don't like to be shat on, no matter who it is. Certainly, a serial quitter isn't going to attract positive feelings.

Dr Who

I think thats fair comment from Keith and quite positive

Nite nite. There's always hope.

I think it's too late for terrestrial radio. The stations that dropped him aren't going to take him back. However, the radio stations weren't even part of the original plan - "keep it small" - until they started courting him.
He's got time to save what's left and he has a capable host at-the-ready for a few days a week as host, for filling in or vacations. Sounds like he needs one. As always, it's up to Art. Tick tock....

What a clusterfuck this all is. I agree that Art had no choice but the way this was handled was text book bridge burning think later. There is no way to fix this. You can never go home. I wish Art the best. Keep your family safe. Thank you for the memories.

Both Art and Keith have what has been called (in far different contexts) the Götterdämmerung* mentality, where your first instinct is to overturn the chess board.

I have it too -- I get it from my mom who, on their honeymoon, threw the checkerboard across the room after Dad won too many times.  Do that enough times professionally and that's why you can sit here and post all day hahaha.

Meh people could have said the same after he walked away from Sirius and well look how that went.
