lol. We're dealing with a zombie horse. It doesn't stay dead. It keeps making foolish social media posts, followed by unofficial retractions...

Its just Art being Art lol, i can care less on what he posts on fb as long as we don't get stuck listening to isis founding father George noory.

I hope so. Art's stunning and brave.

Yes, that too.

I don't either, until he starts contradicting his own posts about quitting. And trying to convince people he didn't really quit... Well, kinda, sorta, maybe.

I know Art's gonna Art...

Art needs to be Art'ing on the air. I'm a retired infantry medic; suck it up Art! Here's a Mydol for your 3 day brain menstruation. Carry on.

Over the years, there have been a number of entertainers whom I loved to hear or see, but they pulled some stunt or behavior that made me just pull the plug on giving them any further attention or revenue.  Art jumped the shark this time and I'd add that, IMO, the MITD run was mediocre due to either stale topics or poor guests; perhaps because Bell thought his rep would overcome a staff of amateurs.  Didn't work. So I don't feel I'm going to be missing as much as most BGers do.  I think it's notable that GK has wisely stayed out of ten-foot pole swinging range; perhaps because he was familiar with the players.  At least one can still be critical of Noory on BG without having a fatwa issued on them.

Thugs annoy the fuck out of me. Or losers who fancy themselves thugs.

I was taking a leak at work when some tool who just got done taking a deuce decides he's going to talk to me. At first I thought he was talking to someone else and then I realize he was talking to me. He asked me if I'd heard him. I said yeah. He explains how I have poor manners for not responding to him and that as a business man I should know better. I informed him that when I'm in the restroom I tend to mind my own business and leave people the fuck alone. He reiterated his position that I had poor manners but wanted to introduce himself and shake hands. I told him to leave me alone and just get away from. Instead of a handshake he offered a fist bump. I declined and repeated that he should leave me alone. He repeated his assertion that I had poor manners for not acknowledging him. At this point I checked to see if I had my blade in my pocket as now I'm wondering if this freak show is going to come after me. I repeared that I wanted to be left alone. He finally went back to his desk. I immediately went into his bosses office and asked him what was the deal with that dude? I explained - roughly - what had happened and his boss said he'd talk to him. I packed my things and left the office at that point.

That episode made no sense to me. how fragile he must be. I'm such a scoundrel. Really the whole fucking planet should've stopped just to make sure his precious feelings weren't hurt.

I've noticed when I'm in Cincinnati that other young black men - like the one that wanted to make chit chat in the bathroom at the place I rent an office suite at - basically demand that you acknowledge them. They make a big deal about how I don't say anything to them. I always thought you were supposed to avoid eye contact and mind your own business to stay out of trouble. But is trouble unavoidable? Is this some kind of new agenda for young black men? "You will not ignore me".

I think this is bad news if this is some kind of trend.  Makes me think I should get a conceal carry and a new bullet proof vest.

The bathroom exchange happened in small town Troy, OH. My interactions with young-ish black dudes in Cinci takes place downtown on the to and from work and lunch.

Thugs are everywhere it would seem.

You're a tool and a shit stain. Please go get bleached.

* killer avatar btw

** you're still a shit stain

I'll just leave this wall of text here. Offering just a small sampling of the one who judges us; for context purposes.

This day and age It's bad enough they allow the thugs to roam freely about. Now the uppity thugs demand we make eye contact and acknowledge them. How preposterous! This is bad news and a disturbing trend, indeed. How dare these thugs extend the milk of human kindness and expect reciprocity. Imagine, them wanting to be treated like Human-beings. The gall of these uppity thugs today! Seems some of us miss the days when certifiable shit stains knew there place, and stayed in it.

Fair warning to all, know your place when you are around b_dubb, for he is superior; apparently by birth right alone. Arbiter of the moral high ground is also his birth rights domain, so it seems. Beware! He has his blade of text at the ready, and will quickly report you to the boss if you don't know your place around here.   ::) ::)

Caution Sir b_dubb, you might discover a certifiable shit stain looking back at you in the mirror whence you gaze into.

Welcome to the club, bro!

Art Bell, U da MAN!!!

I don't think Art quite realized what he was doing, nor do I think he was thinking rationally.  His wife and kid were scared shitless...

Why was Asia in her room all alone when there were cop cars with sirens wailing and all sorts of commotion swirling around?  Of course she would be scared, hiding in there while the grownups dealt with the police.

Great post. I agree with most of it. I'm not trying to be Art's mommy or daddy. I also believe I've been civil with my posts. Harsh? Maybe. He's not beyond reproach. My issue; his attempt Monday, to paint a narrative that the posts he chose to make Friday, can be taken back and/or their meanings changed-- as if nothing happened!? Then, then expect to be taken seriously? Without a retort? Ha!

Oh, no.. I wasn't trying to imply that you were being uncivil. That's just a general feeling of how things are right now, and with some reason. I doubt Art expected to come here and see all of that, though.  He might have even been surprised by it.  I personally think he should stay off line for a bit, stop proving what did or didn't happen (because he shouldn't really have to), and just spend some time with his family. Things will work out in whatever way they will, though clearly with collateral damage.

I don't judge people on taste. MITD, for me, was okay at best. It had some good moments. I don't think it was anything close to as good as Art in the 90's. But, that's just me. I'm sad he destroyed his credibility like this. Art will be remembered as a 'great radio host who quit a lot'. Sigh.

I don't feel "sorry" for Heather. She wanted the hosting gig. Maybe not in the manner in which she ended up there. Art wanted her to be his co host, remember folks? The non BellGab listeners threw a shit fit after the pilot episode. She's an amateur. Any amateur would've gotten the same response. Art Bell, is the one and only draw for (non BellGab) paying customers. Period.

If that's true, and there's no reason to not believe bateman, then the way the retirement announcement was handled is worse than previously thought. No wonder Art tried to walk it back and deleted any mention of it on his FB.

:'(  WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Did he do this.  Ugh.

Yes, she's been pretty candid about her ambition.  She asked, more than once, if Art Bell offered any of us the opportunity, which of us would say no?

I think 99% of us would decline in horror, but she's willing to step up.  So she gets judged on merit, with maybe a little sympathy for the chaotic circumstances.

I'm glad she did cuz otherwise Keith's network would've folded and I'd be listening to Dave or spend a lot of effort scrambling to find some alternative to fall asleep to.

He doesn't listen. I'm sure people have told him to aviod impulsive posts. Posting anything about the "incidents" at his home was a huge mistake. He's given the interwebz so much rope to hang himself with...

Thing is it is hard to go to sleep with Norry on because of his amazing commentary, inanities, mispronunciations, and crazy statements make me laugh and guffaw (only if LMH is on to lull one into sleep- don't get me wrong I love LMH but if I listen to her at night it is night-night time.) Hard to get to sleep with Art on because, usually, the guests and he are entertaining and interesting and the bumper music is awesome. So if I want to sleep I turn off the radio. But if I'm at a place with noise outside or traffic etc I turn on a classical station that usually plays sleepy-time music during those hours, or use one of those apps of rain, forest noises, etc.

Dateline

Do ya think that Art is impulsive?

He'll be back sooner than we all think, TigerLily.  He'll work things out.  His initial message "not tonight or any night" was in haste and he was under pressure.

Great point. I wish some of the overreacting geniuses on the site would take a Valium, or preferably just refrain from posting all the negative inferences.

Hahaha I gotta have some stimulation or the mind wanders.  Been making my way through a series of lectures from the US Army Command & General Staff College on the weekends -- those guys are awesome.  Plenty of guests there, and the reality they've dealt with is strange enough I'm surprised Art never picked them up.

Where do you find those lectures? Free or have to be enlisted/commissioned to get? All I see on the site are reading materials not lectures (though I didn't search around everywhere.) And stuff in pdf still (which is fine for computer but converting to an ebook format never seems to work 'right' when I try and reading pdf on my old one sucks.)

The Snorchlax

Art should at least call into each show for a segment, that would please his rabid fans and allow show to continue

Dole Institute of Politics has a youtube channel with a bunch of them, and some of them spoke at the Kansas City Public Library which also posts lectures.

She an amateur attempting to perform a professional job. Good on her for accepting the challenge. It will likely prove invaluable experience wise for her next hosting job.

I'm not convinced posters can 'handle' her being critiqued. In any manner. Merit? She doesn't have prior merit. She's an unknown, unless you're couning The GabCast. She was handed Art's show.

Candid? I guess? I can't recall her saying "I really want this". I could be wrong, though. I don't hear genuine passion. She's not vey compelling too me. I'm not saying she should be yanked off the air. She has her shot, I hope she makes the most of it.
