Honestly, you don't know why people who are angry, upset, and disappointed rant?
And continue to rant when they feel jerked around again and again by something that they really like. Art may have been a catalyst that set them off, and even though they are taking it out on him excessively, it's not really about him, it's about some other underlying problem they have in real life. Hes their temporary release valve. You may see that as a piss poor band-aid, however you a pro. And most can't afford a pro, to help them effect a more ideal outcome by dealing with the real underlying issues that life brings them.

Are you sure you help people with emotional problems? Maybe you should reevaluate your career, for the sake of your clients if these basic concepts elude you. I know you know better, Onan. You are better than that, man.

So, instead of answering my question, you continue to bitch and moan and whine and cry like a little girl who didn't get her new puppy again this year.  In other words, you answered my question.

YOU ARE HERE TO TROLL!

Or, Catsmile is a troll.

I'd say more of a sacred-clown type, or jester, who routinely transgresses social norms and presents uncomfortable truths cloaked in humor.  Is that a troll?  Sometimes it works, sometimes falls flat, but usually interesting.  Rather read that than unadorned rantings.

But I'll defer to my betters.

Okay, punk.  Simple question.  Why are you here?

Isn't it obvious?
Just so I can troll only you, bro.

And it's working I see.

Thanks for the hug, but even Richard Nixon gave us a resignation speech and a final wave as he got on Marine One for the last time. I really do hate a good story (or ride, in this case) with a muddled, poorly thought-out ending.

Besides, Art Bell deserves to go out with some honor, not this two-bit soap opera. Who approved this script? Never mind, don't answer that.

I know. At this point, we could probably change the name of the thread to "Frustrated, plain and simple", and nobody would pick up on it.

It's all certainly a let down, but everything that could possibly be said was said at some point over the weekend.

Actually, emotional problems are not my area. I deal primarily with psychotic illnesses. I do have a good deal of hand holding with family members when someone becomes suicidal or homicidal. And most people with any amount of awareness have some level of understanding about poor coping skills.

This is a forum where any and all can post. I am not about to evaluate everyone of them. So, no, I am clueless when someone on this forum that has posted for a good deal of time becomes obsessive about a radio show. could they be emotionally unstaqble? sure. But they not be. And making that assessment without a good deal of discussion may well just be dismissive. But in the overall, if you disagree with me, you're definitely in need of help. ;)

It was just a question.

That would have been true if; Art, hadn't posted contradictory Information about his status yesterday...

...with your pontificating.  Cue the nanobots!

Sorry buddy couldn't resist. ;D

I think much of it is genuine anger and kinda selfish disappointment, if Art's danger is real or he thinks it is.  The therapeutic value of expressing it is easy to understand and this is one place to do it.

What's more mysterious and self-contradictory is posting that you don't care any more.

If I may pontificate . . .  ;D

Yeah, there's some of that, but the really bad stuff like the accusation that Art's faking the whole thing comes from people that were acting like assholes on Bellgab long before Friday. They seem to enjoy it. The sad thing is, I suspect a few of them weren't even listeners.

QuoteHuge Art Bell fan.

I was a paid subscriber to his new show since it started, $5 a month, why not? Pretty bummed honestly. It was entertainment, especially his Friday open lines. His new show was getting picked up by more and more stations so I'm kind of shocked at this. He was sitting out nights more frequently lately so something had to be up...he's getting up there in years and been doing it a long time.

Nut job jokes aside, it brought together those that think a little differently. There are a lot of people like that out there to varying degrees. His topics brought up discussion that would otherwise be ignored or not given a proper stage to be heard...the internet has brought these groups together, allowing one person to find another, but Art was so much of a starting point for many over the years. Late nights tuning in to see what they'll say next, what crazy idea a caller or guest will have or maybe even a call from JC. It was a way to fill a summer night of cruising around after first getting your drivers license, coming home from working 2nd shift, closing the bar/restaurant for the night, and for over the road truckers - Art was a companion.

When the opening music started, you knew it was time to settle in. His use of the song Midnight in the Desert at the end of the program was strangely comforting after visiting with a familiar radio friend in the Land of Nye.

Listening to callers, I always wondered what their life was like. How and where they lived. What did they do for a living? Do they leave the house? Did they have ashtrays piled high? Were there 20 cats living in the apartment? Did their neighbors, and if they had any, their friends/family know they were a part of this community?

To those east of the Rockies, west of the Rockies, first-time callers, international callers, even those on the wild card line, it's been fun.

Going to binge listen to Bell this weekend through the wormhole. Just gotta make a new tinfoil hat and pour me a drink.

Wanna take a ride?

He was always on too late for me.. not once in the wormhole, dammit.

Best pack of fags you would ever want to meet on a forum.
Even when we aren't being viciously lovable towards each-other.

So, Art is a troll and stop talking about him? Oh, how I wish I lived in that reality. In all seriousness, I wish it was that simple. It's only been 4 days. It'll die down soon enough.

This is the problem sometimes with the people in this forum they really dont care if Art stays or gos they have an attention deficit problem and want to be the centre of atention themselves.
Radio has just lost one of its greatest hosts and personalities maybe we should be more concerned about that.
I hear ya on that man

This is a fan site...I can understand trying to make sense of it all...and being upset...I can also see that some on BG easily eat their own...I've often completely agreed with posts, and have been rebuked  (even by some of the OG's)..that's just the nature of this place...I find it best to pick the fruit and avoid the thorns...
