It's becoming a regular thing on this thread.  I kind of find the speculation amongst the wisest of us amusing.  I can't believe some of the expertise on BellGab.

Hey, I'm waiting for this thread to break out into a hockey game.

My time is better spent on the GNS thread or, shutter, the Falkie thread.

Yes, the Falkie thread is best left shuttered.

Someone get this guy some Pepto Bismal as he just got Art Burn.

Maybe this is tied in to the dog poisoning & coyote stories mentioned upthread.

Apparently in Pahrump, in response to attacks by coyotes on pets, some people have taken to putting out poison for the coyotes.  That's led to pets being poisoned.  From what I read Google-searching the news for Pahrump, recently that's led to death threats being made in response to public accus'ns of poisoning.  Not a great leap from there to suspect that some people know Art Bell is a media figure who may be talking about the poisonings, and that the threats have therefore been extended to include him.  Lot of bad blood in Pahrump, it seems.

Either that or the threats are particular to the Bells in the knowledge that it has nothing to do with poisonings, but the media are not reporting it because to them, this is all par for the course in Pahrump, and they simply subsume it under the category of ongoing death threats & mischief by locals on locals.

They also report a survey saying Pahrump is rated the 3rd worst small city in the country.

Can anyone direct me to a link to Somewhere in Time 7/4/97?
Heard a bit of it the other night, (Tune In "auto starts" when I launch the app, after several minutes the app crashed, and I lost the show), Art & RCH discussing the landing of Mars Pathfinder, and RCH REFUSED to yield to Art, Art got pissed and told RCH, " okay Richard, I'M gonna speak now!"
It was great, gotta find that show again.  July 4 1997.
Have you looked in the 'archive?' It can be found in torrent land.

Re: Art (and any celebrity) Art doesn't do many book signings, tours, "big events," etc and seems to like being relatively private in his compound except over the air (HAM and his show.) I know some celebrities use their children, family drama, family life etc for their promotion but in Art's case I think it is just because he considers his loyal fans sorta a part of his family. But I think he, and others, makes a mistake when he talks about his family, his location, etc- especially if he doesn't have armed security etc. There are just so many crazies, stalkers, and nutjobs out there.

Zing. Though I don't understand why Art is going with a "paypal only" deal and why not gift memberships? Christmas is coming up.

I think its Keith Rowland (not Art) that decided on the paypal only deal - its probably just easier for him that having to create a more general merchant account?
This kinda gets to the problem - that Keith really needs to delegate some of these issues to others and build a staff for handling these different areas while he can concentrate on just the technical side of the network? If someone was in charge of just the billing area, that person could be more of an expert in that and work constantly on expanding it.

Maybe PP upped their cut. I learned today that Amazon has dropped the PP option.

What? Do you mean PP is charging more? Is that why Amazon dropped it? Or do you mean PP is charging less (cut going to the merchant) then why would Amazon drop it?

I'm assuming PP increased their fee (cut of the sales price) to Amazon.  Just a hunch.

Yes, next time a customer or the boss asks someone to do something they should just simply tell them they'll do what they think is best, and whatever is easiest.  We're all busy you know.

Didn't Keith say he's just fine with PayPal and automatic monthly payments only? - so what's the problem

ART
FAST BLAST/SPEED OPEN LINES IS THE BEST!!!

It's one of my favorite things ever about your show when you used to do it back in the day. All the wackiness and the speed of it is one of my favorite radio things ever. I was so excited to hear you pull it out tonight. Please consider doing it more on open lines when it fits and feels right.

Sorry not sure if you've done it before on Midnight but I loved it when you pulled it out tonight.

You should wormhole this :)

I know, you're right. I tried to wormhole it but their payment system is kind of dumb. The PayPal account I used to sign up is linked to some e-mail account I had years ago. I looked for awhile to find the activation e-mail for login info and send it through the wormhole but it got old after a few minutes.

I posted this here just because I was so enthusiastic about the segment but I agree it should have been wormholed. Sorry for the cluttering. I mark out like a five year maybe six times a year and that was one those times.  ;D

Ah finally found my login info and sent it in.

X2. Fast blast is a hell of a lot of fun.

No no, you weren't cluttering, I wasn't complaining. I just thought a "fast blast" about the "fast blast" had a certain symmetry to it lol

EDIT: We know Art reads his thread but my gawd, so many pages in the last 48 hours...He may not see it here.

zeebo

Agree with others, the fast blast segment was a kick.

Last few pages of conspiracy a-speculatin' are a bit much.

I agree! So, let's just say what's REALLY going on then. Art's an alien hybrid and these incidents of late have been attempts by his "people" to reclaim him and bring him back to their planet. They want him to do a radio show there but their system of government is pretty transparent with very high public participation. There's really no corruption or conspiracy to speak of. BORING!!! Art much prefers the craziness and anarchy of our world. Let's hope he's able to fend off their attempts bring him back and turn him into that planet's version of Casey Kasem.

Turns out I'm "just fine" with stealing the shows.

Time for the Saturday post.

Tonight starting at 8PM Central until Midnight Central ( Thats 6 to 10pm Pacific for you guys in Rio Linda ) on http://ksyl.com is: Art Bell: Somewhere in Time. When Art returns to 5/25/01 when NASA released a new picture of the Face on Mars. Richard C. Hoagland joined the show to discuss the new image and another NASA cover-up.

http://ksyl.com has a live stream listed on their page and they can also be found on Tune-in.
If you are local to NW Louisiana or if the propagation is right, you can hear them on 970AM,
I do not know if the show is in the archive. Jazmunda might have the info on that. However from past info, these may be the "new" classics and may not be in the archive.

For those of you with a bent for nostalgia, from 6pm to 8pm Central, ksyl plays When Radio Was, with old radio shows from the time when "Radio was King!"

Also go to Youtube and "like" all the videos! Help us trend! http://youtube.com/artbell51
