I'm in an area with tall trees and lights, too, but could easily see Jupiter and Venus.  They're just far enough above the tree line.  Venus was stunning last night.

From http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/this-weeks-sky-at-a-glance-june-26-july-4/

"Friday, June 26
Venus and Jupiter, shining in the west as twilight fades, are now only 2.2° apart! That's about the width of your thumb held at arm's length. They point to fainter Regulus, twinkling to their upper left.
Watch the two planets move closer together each evening until their appulse (closest approach) on Tuesday the 30th. That evening they'll be just 1/3° apart, seven times closer than they appear now!
In reality, they're not close together at all. Venus is 51 million miles from Earth this evening; Jupiter is eleven times farther at 561 million miles."

Thanks for this link!  I'm surrounded by pine trees and live oaks, like right up next to and surrounding my house.  But they will not keep me from seeing this!  I'm going to take a drive to an open space and just sit and watch.  I'll be bringing an Art Bell show to listen to, perhaps a ghost to ghost or even the Mothman interview with John Keel.  It will be scary and exhilarating all at the same time.  Soon we'll be listening to live shows!!  July 20 is almost here folks!

Oh so I'm not the only one here with Ubuntu?

I use Deepin on one of my computers, and Windows10 on another.  I'm no expert, I just enjoy trying and learning to use as many OS's as I can try :)  Debian was my favorite Linux, untill Deepin came out.

That's the way to do it!  You won't have any trouble finding the shining duo, as long as the sky is clear.  Don't forget to bring the robot. :)

?? Venus Jupiter conjunctions occur an average of once a year.  In fact in Aug 2016 they will be even closer, 4'.

(From 2014)  http://www.universetoday.com/113679/a-spectacular-dawn-conjunction-of-venus-and-jupiter-set-for-august-18th/

They won't always be visible though....not like this. Most planets have conjunction with other planets at some time, so yes...Venus and Jupiter will do so again. Doesn't make it any less stunning.

pyewacket

I wasn't happy with the first one. I think this one reads better. Can't wait to see the Blitz!

No just you.
Astrologers are ok but I wouldn't trust a mystic to tell what time of day it is.
They're worse than gypsies.
Don't get me started.

The conjuction next year will be awfully close to the Sun.  In my area at least, it will be over the horizon by 9 p.m. rendering it virtually invisible in the remaining daylight.

Like Dead-Heads, we Bell-Heads search far and wide for "old shows". Work that the man did 25 years ago. Searching for them, talking and posting about them, recommending them, etc.
I'm a Bell-Head.

Yesterday I heard 9-4-97, interview with Det. Mark Furhman, listening to him speak, I almost began to doubt the innocence of OJ.

Ubuntu 14 here, too. (Avatar related, kinda.) Until my other projects at work and home simmer down and I feel like some more tinkering!

Very cool!  It took me some work to integrate my Office 365 with Evolution Email and Pigeon, but it's up and running! I'm still having problems installing Skype though...so that's my project right now...

It's so true! Most are still relevant.  Funny how things seem to change, and yet they are still the same.  I'm always astonished when I agree with what Art is saying during an old interview and then remember it was almost 20 years ago that he made his comment.

Our Art Bell Thread page count is quickly catching up to the gns thread page count.  If the Art Bell Thread page count hasn't already passed the gns thread count by July 20th,  it will shortly there after!  ;D

Seems like there are a bunch of us. I use 14.04 for the server and desktop. Tails for nefarious infiltrations of

                                  the Dark Web

Or is that dark matter?

bellgab.onion lol.

Debian here. I'm thinking of switching to Ubuntu. Tried to run it along side W8, but couldn't get it installed. Seems my early version of W8 won't allow it. I might try some other distros also.

Hey brig, why did you switch to Deepin? Should I check that out?

Yes, working at McD's, making the new week-old turkey on a stale, whole wheat bun sandwich, with special suck sauce.  The McDave.

And those McPizza Rolls.  Seemingly almost cool to the touch.

If BellGabbers get through to Art on open lines should they say, "Mega Pizza Rolls"?
