Reminds me of Galileo. He was the first person on Earth to see the planet Saturn in detail through his newly invented telescope. He saw it and then didn't speak or write about the stars again for more than a year. He was too astonished.

Imagine.

It's an amazing sight to see Saturn for the first time with your own eyes (eye in the case of seeing it through a telescope). It's one thing see photos or CGI but to see it with your own eyes is amazing and I can't even fathom what Galileo must have thought and felt upon seeing it without the knowledge that we have today.

In Art's own words..."...this is a topper." Awesome Jaz!!!

I love this trailer so much. It really captures the vibe of those ghost to ghost shows which were always my faves too. Well done Jazzy I look forward to what you have in store for us next. You have a true gift for this.

so true...my daughter and I have been star gazers with my Newtonian Telescope for years now! It's something we share together...and we are blessed to live in  Arizona...one of the best locations on Earth for star gazing...the other is Jaz's land...

JAZ...I almost got stationed in Woomera, AU when I was in the Air Force...ever been there?

I've just got my daughter into Stargazing. My inlaws live in the country away from city lights so we have excellent stargazing there. One weekend during Dark Matter I was listening to Art in the middle of a cow paddock lying down on picnic blanket listening with my noise cancelling earphones on gazing up at a sky full of stars on a warm clear night. That's the best way to listen.

Never been to Woomera. There is a huge Air Force test range there.

Damn the weather here! Miserable rain ruining a perfectly glorious sight... I'm gonna go sulk.

This one is giving me tinglies and chills even thinking about it, now that I've seen it. It's really becoming obvious that Jaz is hiding something -- like film credits or something. He's Ken Burns, I'll bet. Closing all those doors at the end ... tingles.

So many tingles. Does anyone here know about ASMR? It's too weird to link to, especially on YouTube, but boy does your trailer deliver the goods, Jaz.

Done that myself. Listening to Art with my Celestron 8" telescope on a nice summer night with a cold martini is pretty much the epitome of existence for me.

I was a big fan of Dave Schrader and his Darkness Radio although I never listened to him on coast to coast. Now I realize he has joined the dark side and sucked up to snoory and has gone too far. I've put up with shameless plugs for this ridiculous paranormal dating site. But his comments about art on the 6/12 episode were enough for me to see that he is kissing ass with the best of them. Starts at the 27 min mark https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/darkness-radio/id294988529?mt=2&i=344645072. The guest host even gets cut off right when saying she loves Art Bell. Welcome to the dark side Dave#2

Naturally, the sign that the apology has officially been accepted will be when Art installs his "Australia line" for MITD. ;)

I love how involved you are in this forum. Just seeing you use the name Dave makes me love you even more

Remember....you can always tell it's a planet and not a star, because planets don't twinkle. They reflect light, they don't produce it like a star...so a star will always appear to twinkle.

You will never see a conjunction like this again in your lifetime...so get out there and have a look.

?? Venus Jupiter conjunctions occur an average of once a year.  In fact in Aug 2016 they will be even closer, 4'.

Jupiter is very close to Venus tonight.  A very clear sky in my area.  Venus is as bright as I've ever seen.
I can see them from my hallway window, on the fifth floor.  Every night I go look.

I found this on youtube. The "Art Bell" part starts at 25 minutes in and runs to 29 minutes. The video is posted as:
Darkness Radio - June 12, 2015  Art Bell & Supernatural News That's right folks-three minutes of reading a press release and then thirty seconds of Schrader's opinion is the main topic for a one hour and forty-six-minute show.

Thanks RoseGirl for sharing this.  We live in an amazing Universe full of wonders.  It's hard to imagine how Galileo felt.  My house is surrounded by trees and the city lights, but I am still going to try and see the Jupiter and Venus conjunction.  It will be fabulous!
I'm in an area with tall trees and lights, too, but could easily see Jupiter and Venus.  They're just far enough above the tree line.  Venus was stunning last night.

From http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/this-weeks-sky-at-a-glance-june-26-july-4/

"Friday, June 26
Venus and Jupiter, shining in the west as twilight fades, are now only 2.2° apart! That's about the width of your thumb held at arm's length. They point to fainter Regulus, twinkling to their upper left.
Watch the two planets move closer together each evening until their appulse (closest approach) on Tuesday the 30th. That evening they'll be just 1/3° apart, seven times closer than they appear now!
In reality, they're not close together at all. Venus is 51 million miles from Earth this evening; Jupiter is eleven times farther at 561 million miles."

Sounds to me like Schrader may have gotten some behind-the-scenes gossip stories from his co-worker that for some reason he chose to believe. Too bad but I guess he has to play the kiss-ass corporate game. He did however give the new show quite a plug even though he seems to think that MitD is somehow in competition with the Dark Matter Digital Network.  He doesn't "get it" either.
