Hey Art.

You're talked about a good bit inthisarticle. He does an online radio show after being on terrestrial for 13 years. Really, he does what MITD is shaping up to be once a week rather than every weeknight. He owns his own studio, phone lines, etc. Exactly what you're doing.  He's big in the alt comedy scene and that's what his show is mostly, with open phone lines each week too. He doesn't cover anything that he calls in the article "Art Bell stuff."

Anyway the reason I'm posting this here is in the article he says, "if Art Bell is reading this or anyone who knows Art Bell is reading, please put me in touch with him. I would love to have him call into The Best Show. That would be a career highlight."

His audience is way different than yours, but I think if he called into his show a) he'd show you the respect you deserve, dude grew up a talk radio junkie, and b) it'd be good to reach a new (possibly) younger audience different than your normal reach.

Just a couple of thoughts leading up to the media blitz.

Just for fun...  I call them gayzebos   .... And I hate it that the word gay has lost its original meanings.
And I hate it that a lot of gays have to make such a spectacle of themselves.

Why? Did I incite your sense of righteous indignation? Simply because I won't bend to your belief system that some words shouldn't be spoken, because of your limited capacity to understand that some words have more than one definition; beyond the common gutter slang. I'll not let a small group of people on either side take words like GAY, FAG, or QUEER; and forever make it just homosexual slurs. Once upon a time those words had very different meanings, those "old" meanings still apply today. Banishing words and ideas through societal pressure, or creating a law against words and ideas won't stop them. You can't stop thoughts or ideas in that manner. You might want to force a limited definition of a word, to suit your narrative as an enlightened being above the low life haters. However you are simply creating sanitized fantasy bubble, and that is your prerogative.

Why can't the word gay also mean being happy? Who says fag can only be a homosexual slur? Why can't it also mean a bundle of sticks, a cigarette, a tiresome unwelcome task, work hard especially at a tedious job or task. Why can't fag be extended to also mean a tiresome, tedious, annoying, person whose actions or words get on your nerves, in this ever changing modern world? When was queer limited to being only a slang homosexual slur? Queer also means odd, strange, spoil, or ruin. Why should these words be locked into the lexicon of the lowest common denominator, as derogatory slang terms reserved for only homosexuals?  What are the motives of these self-appointed arbitrators of certain words, when decreeing that henceforth only the current gutter slang definition may be the only and pure meaning of FAG, GAY, QUEER, in todays lexicon? 

Were I to propose we burn libraries because they contain offensive ideations, most would think me a radical extremist; and scoff. Most would think me an ignorant extremist if I wanted to ban offensive books. What would they think of me if I wanted to ban the use of certain words?

Banning anything just makes it taboo, or drives it underground, where it becomes black market fodder. That is where things morph becoming really malignant, then metastasis occurs; which can breed rabid extremism. Zealots seeking out and exacting retribution for being marginalized, and repressed. Any of this sound familiar so far? How many times must we repeat a mistake, before we learn how society plays it's part in creating monsters we love to fear and hate?

I'm afraid I don't completely disagree. I'd love to live in a world where folks could be who they are and do what they please so long as they're not harming others (and sensibilities don't count), without worries.

I feel strongly about my libertarian views, for example, but there are places in the world where, for safety's sake, I realize it wouldn't be a good idea to flaunt them.
