I just could not resist screwing with you all a bit with the change over!

Here is what I can tell you, Keith and I are going to think about this over this Weekend but it looks like instead of making a deal with anybody else we will do it ourselves. We will be on the Internet and everybody will be able to hear the show on Tune In (free app) Worldwide.

If we decide to move forward I will be ordering the gear by Tuesday. The music is taken care of and the time of the show will be 9PM-12AM PT M-F.

The live show will be free, but because we are doing it ourselves we will be depending on people buying membership for 5 bucks a Month which gives you the Podcast and Wormhole and so forth. If they don't we won't get very far because we pay music, Bandwidth, Producer Etc.

We could have signed with a Partner BUT they wanted to put us in a pay wall with other stuff and the price would have been at least double with all kinds of restrictions so we think we will put up the money ourselves and roll the dice. It's a gamble but so is life.

Good, I think this is the way it should have been done in the first place. I'll be happy to pay $5, honestly for that amount of content per month I'd be comfortable with $20. Independence from large corporate advertising controls is worth paying for. I appreciate good conversation and you've always provided that.

Sounds good to me.  I will def. need podcast since I will be returning to work shortly before you start broadcasting.  I will scrounge if I have to to get the $$ to subscribe.

Hm, well I had hoped things would work out with the big player so there would be several different ways to listen to the show but what can you do? Maybe Art will be in a better position to haggle on a deal in the future by producing numbers with the current small webcaster plan. It's the better deal Art. Doing it yourself puts YOU in control! Nobody to answer to, and no surprises. It makes it the way it is supposed to be... YOU being the boss.

Art, consider having a Paypal option as well. They can hook you up with a recurring subscription. I'll be more than happy to subscribe. I honestly prefer the podcast that I can download. Often I fall asleep during the show, even though it's a great show... just because of the time of day I listen. I always finish up the next day!

The Dark Matter network already has 20.6K subscribers on TuneIn. I'm guessing a good chunk of those people will cough up $5 a month to have access to downloadable podcasts. I sure will.

You are. A lot of money. This is great news! Plus, you will learn what you need along the way. You have great talent at your disposal -- you need only ask and you get a range of good answers for any sort of problem. Corporations need you and your charisma more than you need to pay them a portion of your pie. Plus: real money right away and no mafia or whatever passes for them these days.

Art, great idea to start out as a small webcaster.   That will give you time to build an audience.  And have a cash reserve to pay the bigger fees when required to.

As far as everyone jumping on this "charge more" bandwagon,  I disagree.  Not everyone will want to pony up $20 a month just for one show.  $5 is more than reasonable for the extra bells and whistles.  Having a donation button satisfies those who wish to donate to the cause.  That is, without forcing people to pay more.

I'm also guessing that the small amount of advertising will bring in plenty of revenue, when the listener count goes way up.  (It's a matter of when not if IMO)

You should sell  year subscriptions with a small savings of $5 or whatever, which would help bankroll your costs initially. Just a thought. I'm stoked!

Art FWIW, and offering unsolicited advice from a mid sized   business owner. Consider hiring a CPA or similar experience. I've had a lot of success hiring women accountants that want flexible hours. They are wonderful staffers and managers.
