I've heard so many talk radio shows and they're all cussing, so sorry to be curious but annoying.

I think it is to your advantage to allow cussing on your new show.  I think not be able to cuss is a, what's with this unconditional/uncomfortable annoying, "oh shit, I've got to make sure I DON'T cuss when I'm on MITD," rule.  Just crappy ordering that.  I mean I think some guests have cussed but I can't remember specifics but I'm sure they felt unconfortable after doing it.  Im listening to Graham Hancock cussing right now.  He happens to enjoy saying, shit.

Art's show has never suffered from not having cussing and I see no need for it now. If you knew Art even a little bit you would know that. If you need cussing to enjoy it then I don't think Art's show is for you. Perhaps you'd be better off taking out a Sirius subscription.

There is room for both Dave and myself and others as well. For the most part I WANT Dave to keep the listener's and callers he has now....

Are you talking about that "SCORPION ARMY" guy?

You hear them on terrestrial? Methinks no. It's good for Rogan because that's who he is and that's the kind of podcaster his is. Not the kind of broadcaster Art is.

Art is a broadcaster's broadcaster (in the vein of Morrow) and has always been the exemplary professional for his chosen milieu.

Unlike Joe Rogan (and Dave, of course), Art can think on his feet and need not unnecessarily resort to vulgarity

dave never uses profanity on air.99.9% of the time he just agrees with the guest/caller.

Now Im Notgoing to put Rogan and Dave On the same level. Rogan does 3 hours straight, no breaks or cuts. Dave can do what? 36 minutes?

No, sorry... not my intent either. I wouldn't put Dave broadcasting abilities up against a turkey sandwich. I was simply (or perhaps, ineptly) trying to further clarify the difference betwen "being on the radio" and "being a broadcaster".

Rogan is also willing to challenge the guest. Dave lets them rub his belly.

Rogan calls out phonies... Joe Rogan VS Carlos Mencia, ONSTAGE VIDEO.

Dave is a phony.

You're right, we could go all day comparing the two.

I'm sick and tired of hearing cussing everywhere.  I've been guilty of it but frankly I don't want to hear it all of the time.  Plus, there should be some shows that I should be able to listen with my kids. Sure they know all of the words but I would like to give the impression that civilized ladies and gents don't talk that way.
As someone else said, Art's show has never suffered from not allowing cussing.  Listen to Stern if that's what you want to hear.

He's right--Art said on Dark Matter that one of his few rules in no cussing.   Art was firm on it--I think Art can handle how he wants to run his show...he doesn't really need much advice, he's great at what he does.  As a bunch of others have said--if you need cursing on your shows then there are plenty of alternatives.

I would hate to see Art go down that road. He didn't allow expletives before- why should he now? I don't think it makes him any less interesting or entertaining. It's the content and style of Art's shows that make me want to hear more. Extreme language has been overused to the point that it has lost whatever power it was supposed to project in the dialogue. I start laughing at the inappropriate and predictable use of it. George Carlin was a master at this type of comedy- it's not for everyone.

Art will do things in his own way. He doesn't need to bow to social pressure. He never would have created his show if he did. I'd describe him as a class act. How many people can do a commercial wearing a tin foil hat and still be cool?  ;)

I know of one Broadcast Media Professional that can do an entire show wearing a squashed and boot-blacked hamster on his head.

true story too... but he comes off more FOOL than COOL

Not many.  Maybe also just the Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World."

Now Richard Hoaxland on the other hand, I would imagine would have no issues at all with adult language; especially when expressing his contempt with NASA.

Although mild because of the limits of AM, he has managed to pack quite a few "damns and hells" on Coast.

At work, I swear occasionally around "the guys."  When I am in a meeting, dealing with a supplier, talking with management or discussing something with an engineer or client I manage to hold my tongue.  Why should people show any less respect to Art and his audience than they would a person they casually met on the street?

Besides, who wants to hear Hoagland discussing this "fucking kick-ass photo that those motherfucking assholes at NASA are suppressing?"

If you want to curse, call into that idiot Rogan or Howard Stern... There are alternatives if you feel it too oppressive to avoid using fucking shitty strong language for the two minutes that you have when you call in.

Well, bottom line is; it's just not in Art's character; it's not who he is - at least his on air presence.  He doesn't go there because his talent eclipses the need to dip into the sewer.

If Art "changed" and felt the need to travel down that road, we wouldn't have to worry about his quitting; the fans would quit him.

Jokes on you, Rogan's podcast doesn't take calls.

Cumia's does though!

Skunk Ape

Rogan did have Dr. Greer on a few years ago. He questioned him pretty well, while letting Greer get his talking-points across. This was back when he was making that Sirius movie with the little alien guy from South America.

ManiacMatt

Cussing doesn't add anything to the program.  It gets old real quick.  I've listened to a few Rogan podcasts and I get so sick of him saying fuck all the time.  Rogan says fuck like a teenager says like.  If one is going to cuss, at least save it for those particularly intense moments when it can actually add impact or maybe a little humor.  I can do without it otherwise.
