Redacted,

My wife heard you on the Gabcast tonight and she swears that she has heard you on TV before. Could this be true?

She's really Bea Arthur. I have the photo to prove it.

Look, not every show will be a gem, make no mistake I do not bill myself as a "nice guy" I am sure many will find me to be a foul tempered person at times because I do not like BS unless it is very entertaining BS. I try to be pleasant but I have my limits so I may not be everybody's cup of tea, but I can live with that.

Art

I have to respectfully disagree with you, Mr. Bell. ALL of your shows are gems. Some are just bigger than others!  ;)

Art Bell

Don't be silly I have had some serious bombs.

Dave's turds vary in size as well.

Is there a particular bomb in mind?

I agree. I can still listen to episodes where I think the guests are testing my BS meter. I attribute that to Art. We discussed this on the GabCast tonight.

How many radio shows from the 90s are people still listening to, actively seeking out, sharing and collecting? Why are Dave and Co so threatened by broadcasts that are of that same vintage?

I like the saying "you can't polish a turd". That is why Dave's show could never be improved by anything.

Obviously very few, maybe a few radio nuts here and there hunt for "vintage" shows for their collections, but there is definitely no other semi-retired radio host who can generate this much interest and enthusiasm from a fanbase years after being off the air. Premiere knows this - they still make $$$ off him.

Thank you both for listening.  Never been on the tube, but, strangely, I get that alot (in person too), it's cool, but an odd thing that happens.  Every time I think it's a prank.

Is this a prank?   ???  :D  ;D  8)

True, turds cannot be polished, but if you have enough wig/hair-spray you can make them somewhat shiny.  Think the Mop-N-Glo boot polish method, you can't wear the boots but they look good for a 'display...'  I've heard if you leave a heavily dried turd that you've wig-sprayed (laquer?) with enough coats out in the desert it might attract the occasional water-starved walker, but that's just hear-say...

Dammit.  I knew it.  Don't know how I could have thought that was just a teddy bear.

Not remotely...

Art,

Do you consider remote viewing legit?

Hey, Art, (or anyone else,) did I miss something with the KNYE references earlier?

True, but the bombs are better than 95% of other talk radio shows.

It's a running gag.  Just about everyone here has, at one time or another, come up with the idea that Art's stream should originate on KNYE.

Hey hey hey careful the Bell house are Packer fans.

On another note I really can't say what the new show will be, honestly even in the old days if I planned a show about half the time it went in a complete different direction just based on what some caller said. I want that again, to be sure THOSE were the best shows. It's ok to have a Guest but over the YEARS Mostly it changed to all Guest to the point that open lines just about vanished. If you do a smart show you tend to get smart calls. I want the show to drift back to its roots. It's possible to screen out the unexpected, I won't do that.

Art

It won't be long before another number 12 rules the football world, and that of course is Andrew Luck. There is no doubt in my mind that everyone will soon learn to fear the neckbeard.

At any rate, the spontaneity of your show was what made it so appealing. You could make the worst guests entertaining... and were not afraid to call people out on their bs like the not so amazing Kreskin. The equally un-amazing Dave Noorie has stated that he would never do so because he doesn't want his guests to look bad which is a joke... and that is why I'm soooo looking forward to your return. Credibility.

I'm humbly flattered.  There must be an actress/host/someone that I sound like & remind your wife of?  Hope you enjoy the show, it's good times, and even more so knowing Art will be back soon.

Apparently so.
Thats the best thing about forums & threads, with chats or MyFace walls things disappear quickly.

This begs the question... what was the biggest dud of an interview you can think of of the top of your head, or someone who was just so far out there it didn't work?

One that comes to mind is a DMT researcher Art booted after only a segment or two because he sounded, um, impaired in some fashion.
