Art Bell

Started by sillydog, April 07, 2008, 10:21:45 PM

I'm only four years older than you and I've been listening to Art since 1996. But I was home schooled, perhaps that explains it.

coaster

I don't think it would be a problem for Art And Noory to have the same guests.

Jnthn932

Four years is a lot of time my friend. Or maybe I didn't start staying up all night until later in life than you. I can still remember when I first found Art on the radio. I was like Oooohh? The reptilians do what to our women!?!?

This isn't strictly Art Bell related, but I just want to say..

Damn I feel old.

Welcome to Coastgab. I came here after GLP shut down the noory hate thread.

My earliest memory of Art was listening to him talk about the Freemen Standoff.

I thought you old guys were calling it wiser these days. You must have forgotten   ;D

Yeah, I really didn't have a normal childhood. For my ninth birthday, my Grandpa bought me a subscription to SOF magazine, and I learned how to deer hunt with two guys who fought in the Rhodesian Army.

Thanks for the welcome! Been on for a while but after the constant let downs from Art I got tired of reading about how crappy George is and how he just keeps getting crappiererer. Getting that email really renewed my interest though. Come on ART!!!! Start the damn show

That doesn't sound too bad to me. I've got a huge stack of SOF magazines in the garage!

George is desperate for guests.  Many times he doesn't have one lined up until the day of the show.  More and more guests don't bother coming on his show, or don't come back.  He has guests I don't see Art being interested in.

George doesn't seem to give a shit enough to do much about anything.  Not if he has to put effort in.  So I doubt there would be a problem having guests that do both shows.  I doubt there would be that many of George's that Art would want, or that many of Art's that George could get anyway.

You guys are starting to sound like Hoagland with secret messages, secret meaning, and plots within plots.

Let Art t play out and see what happens....

Speaking of Mercury -- I just checked their wikipedia page. Kraig Kitchin is their President and Chief Revenue Officer. Kitchin... name ring a bell with anybody? Wasn't Kitchin instrumental with Art pre-Clear Channel like Alan Corbeth?

Yes, you are indeed correct. Talk about deja vu all over again, I remember having this exact conversation before. See here.

That was 2011, Art was making rumblings, Beck said he had a big announcement about adding a fifth hour to his fledgling internet-only broadcast, and he had just hired Kitchin. At that time, all signs pointed to an Art comeback.

It turned out to be S.E. Cupp who, while easy on the eyes, is no Art.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'll probably be quoting this post in 2015.

She is ,however, a fan of Bigfoot. Has spoken about it several times on the Real News on the Blaze. So she could host a paranormal show with more knowledge of the subject than say Noory :O

I think this change from Morse code to actual text means that the Official Announcement cannot be far behind.  I really hope that Art does not get a show on Sirius, as I don't want to pay $50 for one of their radios, and then an additional $15 a month, but I will if it means I get to listen to Art again.  But note that their subscription packages vary.  For $15 a month, you do NOT get Howard Stern, but have to buy their more expensive monthly package if you want to listen to HS.  Am hoping that won't be the case if Art goes on Sirius.

Not to put the cart before the horse, but I pay ~$25 for 6 months of Sirius AND I get Howard Stern (not that I ever listen to him)

IF IF IF Art went to Sirius, ~$50/yr for service is well worth it for his followers.

I still don't think anything substantial will ever come from all of this.

Just informed that Art Bell's web site, www.artbell.com had posted a Morse code message saying, "Wanna Take A Ride?". I hope he is coming back. Art Bell is entertaining as hell. I just pray he can save us from George Snoory. Only good host on there is George Knapp and he's not on enough for me.

Art needs to put Norey out on his ass.

He never puts his guests feet to the fire, no matter how stupid the statement. He's only interested in money. Takes the best guests to the web in an effort to get more money. Nice new studio in Hawaii and guest appearances with TV idots. Especially the idiot with the weird hair that tries to make all his statements sound "scientific."

Art... save the show you birthed baby.

As of July 2, 013, Art Bell has a twitter account!!!!!!!! If you google ArtBell.com, @ArtBell51 comes up next to the info on the google page of the site (not the actual site). So, I went to twitter and yes, he is there as @ArtBell51. It is most certainly him. Go there and you will know. This. Is. So. EXCITING.

i am not going to tune into a major network on a regular basis ever again.  i dont care who is on it - its approved which means its either a lie or a distraction or both.  god, how america deserved noory.  if art comes back, it wont be the same.  ever.  its not that he is too old.  that is an advantage.  he is too owned.  bill cooper was right about him.

i followed him since 1992.  first time i got on as a caller was 93.  i enjoyed that ride back then and even endured a couple of years of snoory.   if i want entertainment now i will play with the grandkids and teach them not to pay attention to any of this crap.

good day, ladies and germs.

Thats just an old website Keith Rowland has run for years after he was selling his Art Bell commerative CDROM after Art's big quittening in 2003, nothing new...

From the "About Me" section on that website:
About Me    This is the support site for the Art Bell Website CD-ROM.

This site is run by me, Keith Rowland. This website is just a technical hobby of mine, I stake no particular point of view or agenda in the material posted here. Other than name, Art Bell is not associated with this site and most likely doesn't know it exists.

Good Lord, what an embarrassing dilemma that would be for PremRad: the weekend numbers would soon dwarf those of the weeknight show, but the suits couldn't fix it because the weekend guy refuses to work more than 2-3 nights a week.

I kind of hope Art doesn't go back - at least if George N is still there - I think it would make Art look very bad... maybe a little desperate.  What about this: Maybe George N is finally leaving the show so they need Art to take his place?

Hindsight being what it is, Art should have just leapt back onto the scene if he wished (be it radio or Internet) and done it in one swift stroke (with apologies to Peter Cushing) taking full advantage of the surprise factor. His dibble dabbing in social media and web exploits don't exactly suggest months of organized staging, but more like tiptoes into uncertain waters.  Only the man himself knows. Should be interesting.

A major difference between Bell and Noory is Bell (at least the pre-2000 Bell) didn't have to rely on guests four nights a week for three hours or more to fill the show; he could handle unscreened open lines masterfully, and deal with most any topic that the caller might spring on him. Noory's open lines must be tightly screened and even then, he runs out of things to say fast.
However, I will say that by the time Bell left, I was past sick of hearing Hoagland, Dames, Deyo, the EVP duo and a few others who were on way too often to be interesting, and mostly with prediction records that fell short of even random hits.  If he were to come back he'd better plan on developing a new generation of guests and not the same old hacks peddling their 20 year-old shticks.

Art even made those commercials sound interesting. Of any show I have ever watched or listened to, his voicing the commercials for his sponsors is pretty much the only time I wasn't annoyed by ads. Art can make anything interesting when his heart is in it. The last couple years where he was occasionally hosting to fulfill his contractual obligations don't really count, as he was clearly annoyed ant not into it. You could tell the entire time. Art is a talk radio master, and we will be lucky to have him back. I deal with the media on a day to day basis, and I don't think it is a stretch to say Art could very well be the best ever at what he does.
