Wake me when an announcement is actually made and I'll jump out of bed screaming with excitement. Until then, my life continues as normal assuming he's not coming back.
I have to say that I am with you on this one.  I have no more ability for excitement when it comes to this topic.  Overall, I find that I am in a rather bland spot in life and this is just one more giant yawn until an actual announcement.  I managed excitement last time there was some promise of a return- but just cannot even so much as smile or have the slightest optimism this time...

I have to admit that I am in a place where I am questioning what kind of quality a show would have if it were to happen.  The UFO and most of the unexplained seems to be done (or is it just that I now lack television and only know that the X files is gone without knowing if there was any replacement...)  There just does not seem to be the general level of curiosity from most people now.  They are all too busy arguing that Obama or the tea party are either the saviors of America or Satan incarnate or busy arguing over evolution and the possibility of a god...  I honestly cannot see where Mels hole would fit today.

I honestly haven't been the least bit excited through this whole thing (despite some of my facetious posts) until that most recent Facebook entry.  It seems to have weight.  I didn't think I really cared if Art came back or not but maybe I do a little, if only to see what he is able to pull off.

What the hell is going on with Art and the three !!! ?  They were on his web site for a while, and now on his twitter site.

Meanandnasty

I got it! !!!! ?????  Asia is going to be learning punctuation and Art has started a new children's pod cast targeted to  just under Noory's age group.  Noory 11-16.  Art will be aiming for the 6-10 age group.

Me too! And I am a guy.... ;D

Facebook or Twitter?

Art should announce to Coastgab first ;)

Location, Pahrump, NV. Art finally got a green card for his child bride! It's on like Donkey Kong!

Also, cigarettes taste better in dry, high desert air.

I will only be convinced this is not another ruse until Bell shows up in some sort of media format.

Perhaps this has already been mentioned, but artbell.com has the following link "hidden" (and by hidden I mean merely not viewable unless you read the html code).

It is clearly placed in the code for those with a teensie bit of savvy to find, so as to arouse further frenzy.

You are correct that it is in the code but it's in the code because it's a hyperlink for the ?

In layman terms if you click on the ? after Wanna Take A Ride it will link you to that video.

So it's not really "hidden" away in code but it is more like an easter egg hidden in plain sight.

Alas! The only character I didn't hover over.

I really hate to fan whatever flames may exist, but my skepticism has decreased somewhat by the following:

The real Art Bell does not visit here often, but he did last on July 11, 2013, 11:04:39 PM

Probably not coincidentally, he also tweeted twice; on July 11, 2013, 11:21 PM and July 11, 2013, 11:24 PM

If he is making a return, he seems to be doing it in a less than professional manner. I have no problem with a few "teases," but this appears a bit juvenile.

Shockwave

He's starting a taxi service.

i've never had so much hope for sardondi to be wrong.

i agree, but i think he's chosen facebook as his primary internet communication outlet.  that sucks.  i think the people on facebook are more likely to be passive fans who kinda liked art at one time and clicked the "friend" button as a result.  no real huge illustration of fandom, there.

Maybe you've been reading different Facebook pages than I have, MV.  The fellow lowbrows I mingle with there would kill for Art to return to radio.  ???

I didn't say he doesn't have any real fans there. I simply said its a really easy thing to click a "friend" button. This forum is comprised of over 115,000 posts on a wide array of subjects written by countless people, many of whom are some of the most brilliant minds I've bumped into. This is an organically sprouted community more worthy of Art's participation than Facebook, in my opinion. I'll stack the conversations here against anything going on over there any day. I'm sure it's a bore.

I would still be flabbergasted if Art came back for a full-time gig. I have always envisioned a one night per week situation, provided he returns at.all. Frankly, I am still very skeptical of ANY return - even in light of the latest revelations.

Although, if one truly considers Art's predicament; stuck in a double-wide full of cats,  watching Ninja Turtles,  while his 20-something wife is probably holding  a mirror over his mouth when he dozes off in the easychair, he MUST yearn for the glory of yesteryear.

I can see Art's posts on his facebook page now, but I can't comment on them.

Maybe Art is keeping it low key in a sense, and not participating here, for example, because it might be viewed as a contentious thing where he's returning to radio specifically to compete with or to stick it to Jorch.

DesertFox

Hi everyone--recent lurker and new poster.  And why am I here?  Art, of course!  Looks like he finally, really is returning to radio.  I think i'm actually buying it this time.  Though with Art, you still need to be cautious.  But it really looks good.

AK--are you saying between the lines Art is now saying on Facebook he is returning to radio and will compete against C2C?  Or am I reading you wrong?

ItsOver

Assuming Art is coming back to radio, I have a hard time believing it's going to be 5-7 days a week.  I can see Art doing at most a weekend show.  I wonder if he's working a deal with Cumulus, maybe where he does a weekend show and the week is hosted by somebody else, approved by Art.  Savage cut his new deal with Cumulus, although, I'm not all that familiar with Cumulus and it's programming.  I seem to be surrounded by PremRat stations.  ::)

My guess is a satellite radio show...based on the Contact video and the "wanna take a ride" reference...in a way, his show would be taking a ride on a communication satellite with Sirius XM.

ItsOver

It could very well be Sirius but I'd think somebody such as Art would be very tempting for Cumulus to pick-up in some form and run against PremRat.  I can't even tell you who Cumulus has on most of their stations in the time slot of C2C but anybody with any business acumen and sense should see C2C with Noory as low-hanging fruit.  A Cumulus show going head-to-head against C2C, with Art on the weekend and another Art-like-host during the week would massacre C2C in it's current pitiful state.  Can you imagine Art vs. Wells?  No contest.  Even an Art-approved pet rock would slaughter The Nooron during the week.  I know Art has said he doesn't want to "come back for the wrong reason" but somebody such as Cumulus must be slobbering to lock-up a win-win deal with Art.  I'm sure Art's demanding quite a bit of creative license so hopefully we'll get to see how much he can wrestle away in any deal.  He certainly wouldn't be a complete toady stooge, like Noory.

Heck, what do I know about corporate radio?  Pretty much next to nothing.  At least not much I understand or can stomach.  It's fun to speculate though while we patiently wait to see if the real master of the night returns in some form.

onan

It is my observation that the wrong reason is not enough money and the right reason is more money.

Although money is always a factor, Art seems to want to do things his way.. and why not, its proven to work.

I would think Art would want complete control over his show, no lawyers or corporate telling him how to do his thing.. not to mention the ability to do his show live from his home in NV. Art is really a radio icon,  he really talks to his listeners and guests, and he can roll with the punches with the chaos of open lines etc.

This is what makes him so good, other hosts with similar topics play a role, they want to be like Art but they are not being themselves in the end and it comes off either as put on or just way over the top. AB just goes with the flow, engages in good conversations with the listeners/guests, without the fanfare and BS. This is why I can still go back and listen to old shows..

To Art - Don't change you old bastard, cant wait for you to come back.. Who would have thought that after the end of the world in 2012 that so many of the old conspiracy theories ended up becoming true. Oh and please do a show with Joe Rogan or even do an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience. That dude is a enormous fan!

Meanandnasty

The Maya were right.  2012 was the end of the world as we know it.  In 2013, Art Bell is returning to the airwaves.  Thanks Noodle, Noory, for telling us that over and over for ten years.  We get it.

Maybe the Mayan's foresaw the coming of Noory and after 10 years of him, the end of the world was just wishful thinking.

Building the buzz, building the buzz....

Or maybe we're all just Charlie Brown and Art (like Lucy) is promising not to yank the ball away at the last moment.

kingotnw

To the people saying he will only do a weekend or a couple nights a week. No way. No way in the world he gets a massive contract off of that. He's going to have to do 5+ nights a week to rebuild his fanbase for at least 1-2 years. Anything less than that wouldn't be worth it for the station.
