The latest from Art on Twitter:

Quote from: Art Bell on TwitterThis is not a tease, promise.

A step closer. I remain cautiously optimistic or in Coast to Coast terms open mindedly skeptic.

SnapT

Everybody get packed for the ride we're taking soon with Art!

As George Noory would say, "Pack your little things into your little suitcase and wave a little goodbye to your little children and little dog, as well, of course!  WOOF WOOF WOOF!  Little!"

morphiaflow

Looking forwards to the continuing skepticism, which probably won't stop even once the announcement is made, and he goes on the air. (Then it'll just shift to "how long before he quits"...some people just can't be happy...)

Once bitten, twice shame on me? I forget how it's meant to go.

I think a lot of us here are happy skeptics.  ;)

In regards to this message... so, you mean to tell me just when I start being able to see his Facebook posts, he starts using primarily Twitter?  I am not getting a Twitter account for this!  Well... at least I can see the messages if I want without joining...

Larkin

I'm sure someone here will always post what Art posts to Twitter, and within minutes.  Hence, no real need to create a Twitter account.

Contact: Wanna take a ride?
looks like the video owner wasn't happy about Art's fans showing their support.
He deleted all posts with the word Art or C2C in them. How rude!

He does not own the video content, but he does own the channel. Since Art linked his video to the Art Bell Question Mark, one of this man's other Contact videos was taken down due to copyright violation... or could it be a disgruntled youtuber exercising their power of flagging videos....
"This is absolutely not for any gain whatsoever, it is purely entertainment only." Nicely stated that it is entertained, but I wonder what the alternative is?  ::)
"No postings about C2C , Art Bell etc please guys..Any more and I'll have to block..I don't want to do that." I'd hate to see this get ugly.   ;)
After Art changes the page and removes the link (assuming that he will) I'm going to spam flag all this guys videos. Why? Because, Clearly, he is a George Noory Fan!

Enough of my Ranting. I will return to the crawlspace that I came out of until another day of dire posting emerges.

Shall we break the above down into facts before making assumptions? Both videos (From Contact) were posted long before Art Bell decided to get his show back on the road. Both the Wanna take a ride and the Ellie meets Haddon clips were put up because a) I'd previously tried to find the Meeting one on YT without success, so using my skills I managed to extract the said clip from a dvd and added a caption or two b) I thought others would like it too.. And quickly it received quite a few thanks for posting, because it seemed that several had been trying to find it also. It wasn't for my ego, it was for others' enjoyment, and that's it..

After that, someone asked if I could post the wanna take a ride clip..As I now knew how to do it from the first, I did the second. It received more praise (to my surprise) and positive feedback. And so it's been for a few years...Then without warning YT decided that the meeting vid was going to destroy civilisation with me posting the clip and removed it. I didn't bother trying to re submit it, because there seems little point, if they'll just take it ff again.

In the last few months it's had intermittent (as you'd expect) views but to my utter amazement reached over 50000; again, it doesn't give me a hard on, I rarely go and look at my own channel, and look at others' videos instead.

That being the case I was surprised to find recently my e mail inbox with lots of YT messages (which I initially ignored), but curiosity got the better of and I had a look. And it was basically spam about Art Bell. I politely asked that people didn't, I even tried to keep it light be saying I was a grumpy bastard; and that prompted a few childish messages (including one repeating Art Bell several times), being told I was crying like a bitch (Yeah right), and essentially stuff you expect from the petulant.

I don't agree with the concept of blocking discussion, or the people who make the remarks; especially the CT's on YT who absolutely won't tolerate any descent from their part line.

It gets even more ludicrous when someone described it as 'shitty little videos'! The irony of course, I didn't make the film! So maybe the producers of Contact should be told their film is shit? But the poster obviously couldn't make that connection (Not that bright methinks)

So yeah, you spam all my vids as spam if it makes your world a better place, "Hey bud,  I sure showed that MF eh?" Oh Please, grow up!

No I'm not a George Noory fan; I'm not a fan of any radio host as it happens..But clearly it's the right/ wrong intellect..I don't want spam about Art bell so i MUST be a George Noory fan..yeah, logic! It never occurs I may not have heard of either does it? Oh hang on, that doesn't fit the preconceived assumption does it? The problem with assumption? It's the mother of all fuck ups..

You take care now.  :)

I think we can now start to piece this together.

The "R" in "Ride" on ArtBell.com now links to this page...

http://www.coalspeaker.com/post/21202247075/wanna-take-a-ride-the-voice-of-coast-to

Which has a blurb about Ross Mitchell, formerly the voice of Coast to Coast, now broadcasting on the competing Red Eye Radio Network. (Also, some less than flattering comments about Noory and Coast sans Art.)

R for Red Eye...R for Ross...

It may be premature to say for sure, but if I were a betting man, at this point I'd put $1 on Art doing a show for Red Eye...with Ross Mitchell announcing.

And I *still* hope he's able to get Knapp away from Coast, presuming Knapp is willing, of course.

Incidentally, the "T" in "Take" links to a YouTube video of Crystal Gayle's "Midnight In The Desert". Perhaps a hint of the new show's title? Or merely an indication that Art intends to reclaim his old territory? (Including at least some of his staples, such as this song.)

Any last doubts I may have had--which I didn't--have now been swept away. Art Bell *IS* coming back to terrestrial radio. The speculation now shifts from "if" and "where" to "when" and "what format".

Let it begin.

kingotnw

Art has now confirmed he is coming back. At this point, we are simply waiting for specific details. There should be no more people saying he isn't coming back, as he just confirmed that he is.

SultanDrops

I don't care if he comes back for a month and then quits. A little Art is so much better than no Art.

AND THE W ON ARTBELL.COM NOW LINKS TO THIS...

Giorgio Moroder - Chase (Original Extended Version) 1978

The Chase by Giorgio Moroder.

In the few minutes since I made my last post, no less.

This is as bold a proclamation as he can make given that he's "bound".

It's happening.

Sorry to go all "Fort Rock" at the top.

and the A Links to Cusco's Inca Dance.

I think these are literally being added as I'm posting this. Every time I refresh it seems there's a new link.

You're not kidding. I'll f*cking flip my lid if Art comes back full-time, M-F.

Conjecture -- say Cumulus/Art make an announcement Aug 1. Would you think that Art's show would debut relatively quickly, or would it be a January 2014 thing? Cumulus still has some gaps in the lineup... no stations in Pittsburgh (where I live), none in Seattle, Cleveland, Baltimore. Not a lot of gaping holes, but some notable absences.

Scully

Oh, be still my foolish heart ...  ;D

morphiaflow

I'm going to say announcement in August, debut in September. And I still think it's going to be Red Eye.

jazmunda

Looks like he might have snagged Ross Mitchell too.

Bring it on Art.

I wonder if Art has sent a cease and desist letter to George about using The Chase as the Theme song. Over the years I was waiting for George to dump it so that he could ditch any connection to Art but now I think he would grip on to it for dear life just to spite Art.

And what happens with SIT? How can C2CAM still play them if Art is the competition?

Disheartened

With Art hosting a new show those gaps are going to fill in pretty quickly.

Does anyone still have doubts?

I doubt they will. But lets not forget Premiere has that 'bottomless pit of bowling sewage' known as the Best of George Noory. That should be good for one Saturday anyways.

Dead air is not a good sound for radio.

That linked article also betrays a continued resentment of Noory and what he has done to Coast.  If that is what this Ride is about, it may not last long but the early programs should be intense.  Enjoy it while it lasts.

I feel honored... Coalspeaker.com is my personal site.. I feel very very honored I was being linked. Wow. Though it appears my link is now gone

Thanks Art

Art may have thought linking that gave too much info and thought better of it.

Or knew that was the case so he just linked it for a short time knowing a few people would see it.

Okay, I am pumped. The Phoenix is about to take to the air once more :)

It may be.. or it means that Ross Mitchell will be back.
But could Art use the Chase as the opening song still? Would Noory be backed into a corner and have to pick some other tune to open his show? Maybe he will let his club of Coast Insiders vote on what they want as the new song.
Those results should be fun.

I think it's a given that Ross Mitchell will be back.  My guess is the link tipped us that Red Eye will be involved somehow.  I don't even know what that is, I've never listened to it

The hosts and the shows don't own the bumper music, they pay royalties when they play it.  I don't think a show can use a piece of music they don't own as an opening bumper and somehow keep another show from using it, but maybe they can.  I'd bet Art would have a new cool intro just because the Snorge is still using his old one, but if not that would be hilarious.

I think for George, the bloom is off the rose of his new contract

Red Eye is the long-haul trucker-oriented dreck that Cumulus required all the stations they own to carry in the C2C time slot starting a couple of years ago. Two guys talking mostly about right-wing politics. Not worse than Noory, but close. We can only dream that Art takes their M-F time slot.
