There were a few DM shows I didn't hear, and that was one of them.  I'm going to have to go back and hear them again, as the pain has now subsided.

I only heard it that one nite live, so it might be colored with some nolstagia, but I do remember she went on some wild tangents.

I'm glad your back so that I can read these posts and ponder why we are all forced to chose.  At least with Art offering a download we can listen to George every night and still catch Dark Matter.  You no longer will be forced to chose between spring water and raw sewage to quench your thirst.

Ah yes sorry, I've tuned the intro out for so long, I still remember it the old way.  I think it was changed some time ago in response to years of teasing posts here.  It's all part of "being open to tweaking the show".   :

People give LMH a hard time, but I've always enjoyed her appearances and the DM show with her was awesome.  She was in rare form that night, and I think it's because she was so happy being back on with Art.

Yeah LMH is one of my favorites, even though I may not always agree with her.

Many stations will want to. Unfortunately, I think it's more trouble than it's worth. Dealing with an ISDN line, 3-4 or even 5 minute long breaks every 15 minutes or so (Art said the commercial load would be light on the new show) , plus the small stations just don't have the revenue to pay for the content. So why bother? They could cut up shows from the week and maybe replay them on the weekends - that's the only way I see it working.

If the stations want to carry Art Bell and Dark Matter then Art will probably do each station using the barter system that He and Alan Corbeth used before...

Right, meaning the stations won't pay for it, and all revenue would come from 'network' ads he sells himself.

But again, there's the issue of cutting up the show to fit into the station's framework. There's a full 7-8 minutes at the top of the hour for commercials & news. If Art wants to structure it in such a way that it'll fit, then sure, stations would take it in a heartbeat. I just don't see it happening based on what he's said.

I don't understand why all the yearning for Art to be on AM/FM radio, and make a perfect clone of Coast to Coast AM. Thats so last century. Nostalgia is great and all, but thats all it is nostalgia. Let the past be in the past. Let Art move forward as he sees fit, for better or worse.

When or if he wants to grow the show into a consumable product for the radio, he will do so on his own terms, in his own time. Once you get outside forces/money involved things get complicated fast. More cooks in Arts kitchen won't necessarily bake a better cake, especially on opening day.

Art & Ramona proved they could bake good product, that grabbed the attention of the big boys. That gave them the clout to mostly control what became Coast to Coast AM as we knew it. Then he sold C2C to PremRat, and we see how that turned out for everyone involved.

i'm not necessarily sure they stole it so much as it was a matter of inertia and just keeping the show sounding like the show.  however, i agree... i'd like to hear art using the chase again.

I agree. Art's commercial lite shows will not fit AM radio schedules. It's not going to happen. We can't have our cake and eat it too.

Why can't they just run the 3-hour show in a 4-hour slot, with a time delay starting after the first break?  And if listeners want to hear it (fully) live Art can point them to artbell.com.

I'll never listen to a show with Ed Dames, Whitley Streiber, and Richard C Hoagland again.  They sucked when they were originally on with Art, and didn't get better being overexposed by Noory. 

And there are others only slightly less annoying and insulting to the intelligence.  Art may not have listened to George interviewing them, but most of the rest of us gave George a chance at least at first and had to suffer through too many shows with these shit guests.

Really hoping Art clears the slate clean - other than LMH - and finds new topics, or at least new guests people (at least me) aren't sick of.  I wonder though, kicking off Dark Matter last time with the old tired guest lying about having an alien in the freezer again was not a good sign

I wonder, would Keith/Art have a problem with Art Bell fans streaming Art's show live on their OWN personal YouTube channels?  That'd be a great way to spread the word that he's back.  Imagine YouTube viewers going to the "Live" section and being surprised to see a BUNCH of live Art Bell streams running all at once, taking up a ton of space on the Live charts.

Personally, the video that I would show with the audio would be images that relate to the show, like for example if it's a Hoagland show the viewer would be able to see the wacky moon photos he's talking about on the live video feed rather than having to find them on an outside website.

(That, or show completely unrelated video game footage to suck in the millions of gamers on YouTube and unsuspectingly addict them to Art.)

I must admit in spite of some, let's say "incredulity" on the story, I still found that show entertaining.  Possibly though because that night was one of the most fun DM chat sessions ever on bellgab.

Agree.  It sets the proper mysterious, space-like mood.  However, Art can play whatever he likes.  I'd even put up with UFO Phil, knowing Art was soon to follow.  Fortunately, Art wouldn't subject his vaguely loveable BG'ers to such wretched garbage.

Second, for a guy who "does not believe in coincidence" you seem to have a endless number
of them when it comes to me, from Oates forward, simply too many to recite here.

Art, surely you can appreciated the the differences or interpretations of opinions about good and bad or right and wrong... right can't you?

Third, with regard to Poaching, it has nothing to do with my "feelings" and more to do with actual History.

"C'est la vie" (phrase), a French phrase, translated as "That's life" ----- and also what history is about - it's about lessons learned, Art.

Fourth, As for your "popping up on 104" I don't care, it was a shrewd business move and I would have
done the same thing had the situation been reversed, I made my bed with that situation and I have to
live with it.  My choice today would be the same for the same reasons.

Come on Art. It's just one of those things that someone of your stature has to get use to. Face it - your name will be used long after you're gone. That's just the way it is when you're a Legend and a Super Star....especially in your own time...(the present).

You should begin now making sure that it's registered and copyrighted - a Legacy for Future Bell's. Talk with Elvis' people.

Radio owned by Clear Channel snapped him up a Week before he did his second show on Coast.

Come on Art! You would have done the same - especially if you thought it was a talent worth developing.

All that said, let us both do the best Radio we know how to do and barring any "coincidental" launches this

LMH and RCH/19.5 were always entertaining and a staple... or stitch... or some kind of suture. 

Liked Kaku -- was/is always informative ... and maybe even bring in that Grassy Tyson dude... for minority physical reports.

But I wholeheartedly agree that anyone with lies about having an alien in the deep-freeze should remain iced.
