George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

I don't remember the exact numbers, but a significant number of young people in the general population die of suicide - maybe even second to auto accidents.  How does the suicide rate of service men and women compare to the same age group in the general population?  I think that question needs to be answered for us to know exactly how to take this.

Children 10-14 0.9 per 100,000
Adolescents 15-19 6.9 per 100,000
young adults 20-24 12.7 per 100,000

On average 88 people a day die by suicide

over 3 times as many suicides in the army as the other branches

The first 155 days of 2012 had 154 suicides in the military.

More than half of all suicides are by gun death.

If one considers the number of attempts... just the reported ones, 750,000 on average a year.

It gets complicated with more women attempting than men, yet men are much more likely to complete an attempt.

That figure reflects active duty and veterans, combined. Last year there were exactly 349 active duty suicides across all four branches. FAR too many, in my opinion, but not 22 per day. However, one must take into account the increasing numbers of younger vets, recently returned from the Afghan and Iraq theater, that are taking their lives. It truly is heart breaking.

I figured there was a "rest of the story" aspect. But I absolutely agree that we have seriously degraded our military, at least the Army ground units and Marines, through gross overuse. It's a scandal how we've abused our National Guard, many of whom have done 4 or more tours in the sandbox.

An all-volunteer force has given the US what might the most professional and effective military in history, but in many ways it has been at a very high societal cost. I think it was a whistling-past-the-graveyard choice, made at a time when the average draftee was simply shitty; not merely unmotivated but working actively against the military.

One of the worst things about a professional army, apart from the increased burden on many fewer troops, is that a professional force creates an even greater divergence between the military and civilians: there is a much greater chance of an "us and them" attitude, which bodes ill. It is important for America to have citizen soldiers. But worst is that we now are into our third generation which thinks it owes the country absolutely no duty whatsoever. Just imagine what the uproar would be if the draft were reinstated (unless we continue into an undeniable big-ass depression, which seems quite possible).

I think the healthiest model, which results in the most stable society, is virtual universal military service, but of a short term of 2-3 years, as we had in the 50's to early 60's. There would be enormous benefits to us as individuals and as a country if we all had the common experience of military service.

Completely agree... citizenship should not only be about one's rights but also one's responsibilities. And we do a very poor job educating people of their social responsibilities.

Forced conscription into the military is a concept that is no longer viable except in cases of immanent invasion.  I think common social responsibilities could be integrated into the last year of high school where students would need to complete several months of volunteering for a charitable institution in order to graduate.  Forcing millions of young people to learn the art and science of killing people and breaking things would have consequences for our society.

The military does more than kill people. True it is a primary skill but it doesn't need to be that way. Also, perhaps if more people were put in harm's way there would be a significant drop in wanting to go to war.

Zillions isn't quantifiable. Are you suggesting the military only takes the brightest? Are you suggesting the cognitively impaired was part of the (serious) conversation? Of course those who are not capable of serving shouldn't have to.

All that being said, I am tired of the euphemisms. I am tired of people sending predominantly poor into battle. I am tired of the George Bushes, Donald Rumsfelds and yes Barack Obamas sending us into war without any defined goals. My conjecture is that if the elites children were just as likely to be fired upon there may be less desire to jump into a war.

I'd be happy with a modern version of the CCC...if it were possible. But that's probably the last government program which wasn't a complete disaster. The military is the only thing the US government can now do with any degree of excellence and efficiency. Everything else the US government manages or oversees is an abject failure. Any "universal service" program instituted now would be a sham: a series of Potemkin villages capable of deceiving only those who want to be deceived. So military service is the only viable choice.

That was a false model even in Vietnam, in which the average soldier serving in country was white, a volunteer, with at least a high school degree. And today's US military is overwhelmingly middle class, from "flyover country", and far better educated than at any prior time.

It isn't a false model. It is a dirty secret that most wish to disregard. Having served as an enlisted soldier I can attest to many service men being poorly educated. All of them no. But even by the military's own Armed Forces Qualification Test or AFQT they have lowered the acceptable level. There are three test score categories or TSC's. I, II, III, and III is broken into IIIa and IIIb these two levels are test scores of 64 to 50 percent and 49 to 31 percent. What that says is that many who qualify for the volunteer army can score as low as 31 percent to be accepted into the military. Not to mention the scorn from many here that believe public education is poor at best... a high school diploma isn't a standard.

On to the economic demographics of the enlisted person.

It is true as you suggest, higher income families are on a percentage more represented than those of lower income families on a margin of about 22% for middle class and up, while about 14% for lower middle class and lower. The number not shown however is that 14 percent of a much larger lower middle class is actually a much larger number than the 22% of upper middle income families.

As to ethnicity, since the population of whites to black in this country is (lets be generous) 70 percent white to 30 percent black, whites will by far be the largest demographic that doesn't mean it is a fair even slice of the US population.

the one common thread appears to be that Noory FAILED at all of those endeavors...

George does seem to have failed at everything he's done.  Art rescued him from being the late night, probably very low paid, washed up, TV/radio guy in St Louis.

So he ends up with the C2C job, thinking all he has to do is show up and he'll become the same beloved figure Art was.  I'm guessing he didn't put much effort into any of his previous jobs either.

By now, any competence he would have developed over years of doing his best just isn't there.  It's too late now, the habits (laziness, constant ass-licking and self promotion instead of just doing the job, assuming things are going to work out on their own or someone is going to get your job done for you, etc) are ingrained.

Guest(s): Aingeal Rose O'Grady
First Half: Authority on the Akashic records, Aingeal Rose O'Grady, will discuss her remarkable ability to access these records which are reported to contain all knowledge of human experience and the history of the cosmos.
Previously scheduled guest Devaron will appear on Wed. Feb. 20th.

Although I am deeply saddened by the fact that tonight's show will not be featuring an alien/human hybrid as originally promised, I still feel that the potential for train wreckage is high seeing as though there's still a cat lady for Jorch to talk to.

The show is a RIP OFF for dumb people to get poorer trying these dumb cures. SNAKE OIL.
George is breaking the law asking for money. He is not a charity, and sounds like a scam to rip people off. I think I will complain again to the local station. This has to stop.Maybe the IRS will step in. I hope.
And George does not listen. He wings it. He is a dope! A fake and a con artist.
I thought the guest last night was was interesting. I cured myself of an illness that should have killed me by changing to a alkalizing diet and health regimen. That was 13 years ago and I've kept it up because it works (but takes a lot of self-dicipline) The guest was not hawking, like most C2C guests do. You can find everything you need to know online. I did not buy a book about it. I'm wondering why the only times Jorch comes across as an animated host is during his health shows. He just doesn't seem the type to care about  the subject. If he would but half as much effort into his other shows, as he does the health shows, it would at least be a small change for the better.
I was listening carefully when Jorch read the news blurbs (Sunday and Monday) about the skeleten of Richard III being discovered, because I knew he would not have a clue who Richard III was, and I was curious what kind of stupid comment he would make. Jorch does not disappoint in that reguard. You could almost hear the wheels spinning in his head as he thought: who is this guy, and what can I say about him? There were a lot of pauses as he read the story both nights, and he settled on : "he was buried deep" and "he... died... in battle". If George had the basic background knowledge that his position requires he would have read something like this:
"The skeleten of Richard III - the evil king who was accused of murdering his young nephews and lampooned in the famous nursery rhyme HUMPTY DUMPTY - has been discovered. The amazing thing was how good a shape the remains were in, considering they were buried LESS THAN THREE FEET DEEP. Richard III was killed at the Battle of Bosworth Field after aledgedly uttering the famous quote: "My kingdom for a horse!"
What irritates me the most about the Snooron is his bone laziness. So he didn't know who Richard III was on Sunday night. How much of his 'eight hour prep time' would it have taken to look up Richard III on wikipedia?

ROFLMAO! That routine was great back in the day* and it fits Snorge perfectly now! Of course I won't be able to get the catchphrase out of my head for days but the hearty laugh was worth it!

* I hate the expression "back in the day" but I was laughing too hard to think of anything better.

I am coming to the conclusion we should feel sorry for George and he may be just a scammer victim. Race horses, vitamins, restaurants, new age crap are all George and are all common ways to scam folks.  Just sayin'

The show is so depressing tonight.  First they discuss the high suicide rate among vets and then give that terrible advice to the amputee.  I really hope vets aren't listening.  Then they diss anti-depressants - which can be very helpful.  They can also give a depressed person enough energy to take action.  Snoorz has to crow about his 9 tears of Navy.  We are so impressed that you sat behind a desk George - something he never mentions.

I know......ANY TIME Coast is about health related issues.....the radio stays off!!!!  Hell, I try to overlook GN and enjoy a good guest when I can.  But, when it comes to TURMERIC, BAKING SODA, CARA#$!$!# (whatever the hell that stuff is), etc...etc..... THE RADIO IS OFF.  I can not stand to listen to those types of programs.  One can just turn on the TV after 2:00 a.m. and  find nothing BUT infomercials for every "miracle drug" known to mankind that has been ignored by the FDA.
Don't get me wrong, I do believe that there are supplemental vitamins and minerals that are beneficial, but I don't need COAST TO COAST to tell me about them.
Whenever GN can "insert" something ABOUT HIMSELF.......never fear......he'll make sure we all hear about it again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.......

Fine Art stream had a great interview with a real phycisist, the kind of real hard interview George could never do.

Since Jorch does not have a personality (that has not been copied from someone else) when he signed on as host of C2C, I'm sure the producers studied their lump of clay and thought - We'll make him 'Mr. Clean', the boy scout, the 'Worker in the Light'. But all you have to do is listen to him for a few weeks and you can see it's a mask. Jorch just does what he's told to do. If he genuinely cared for others, he would not mention every night the name of a person who has gone on record as not wanting his name connected with C2C. He would not cut callers off and pretend that it was the phone line. He would admit that he no longer really cares about the quality of the show, and offer to step aside for someone who really cares enough to do a good job. I'll bet on Friday nights when he skips out early, that he's sitting in the nearest titty bar before UFO Phil has finished singing.

Am listening to fineartstream for the first time.  Had forgotten how good 'engaged' radio was.  Intelligent callers, interesting guest, and an intelligent, interested host.

That's really it.  I am old enough to remember carnival freaks.  The Fat Lady, The Strong Man, Snake With Two Heads, etc.  We all want to be amazed,  horrified and shocked.  It appeals to the reptile brain we all aspire to rise above, but that is why it's called a guilty pleasure. You've got it, Longbow. Plus the fact that, despite Disgeorge's ineptitued, it's a good place to keep up on many of the subjects the show covers.

BTW, Just listened to a recent C2C about vampires. All of these George utterings happened in less than 10 minutes of interview time:

"...Nosferatu...that old black and white film."

Yeah, maybe a better way to identify it would be, "...SILENT film." There've been a few other black and white ones since Nosferatu.

"Did it scare you when you were writing it?"

And the best one of all:

"...you said that vampires have become a multi-billion dollar industry. Does that include the movie industry, for example?"

    Duhhhhhhhhhh...
