if that is really george noory is it any wonder why his books were done by a ghost writer? hahaha how ironic

the worker in the light is the guy under the neon tubes who has to parse whatever the fuck noory is trying to say

onan

I think Noory said some things that we didn't like to hear. Like Art didn't do as much challenging as we discuss. That c2c is still considered successful.

I think this a poor environment to have a conversation, similar to having a talk in Thunderdome.

I think some of the questions asked were more than appropriate and weren't answered. I think some of the questions weren't appropriate and would have made anyone less than interested in answering.

I am not defending the guy, But if there were any "neutral" viewers... He came out better looking than we did.

Agree Onan.  We still don't know the motive(s), or even if it is George, but "Gnoory" is here for some reason and has provided some partial dialogue.  The immature posters like one right now make it look bad for the 99 percent who are reasonable.

All of this, is a tempest in a teapot. I get that. I don't have a great deal of sympathy for Noory. I do give him some points for engaging... he certainly didn't have to.

Was he disingenuous? more than likely. But the din made it difficult to follow any questions. And if we were to get to anything substantive... it was cock blocked before the second question. We as a group did look like bullies. You think I like saying that? I don't but it is accurate.

not meant to sound contentious.

Say what you will, but- it takes a lot of courage for a man with a someone deformed tongue to get up and host late night radio, despite the haters that know what they know that they are know.

Yeah, it just doesn't make any sense as he really has nothing to gain by being here, and I find it hard to believe he really wants to change for a handful of people on one internet forum.

It was chaotic with everyone trying to throw in their question.  Not to over think it, but maybe if we had a representative of sorts, which is basically what Nucky was trying to do (I think), one key person could ask the general eight to ten solid questions we all have.

Hopefully if that's really him we can stay somewhat civil & constructive, and that he keeps stopping by for the few of us that appreciate his time. There are gripes to share & jokes to make, but at the end of the day we don't want to leave the poor guy wallowing in shit the one time he decides to take this place seriously.

About George's tongue - at times we've heard that it has 'pockets', other times we've heard that it's 'forked'.  Whatever it was, is it correct to assume it's been surgically repaired?

Sometimes these personal stories either just seem made up, or the details change.  Is it 'forked' or does it have 'pockets', whatever that is?  Or both?

Sometimes when George is speaking, the words just flow out smoothly.  Before too long, there will be one or more that is badly mangled.  Simple every day words.  It sounds like he's simply reading something cold and misreading the word(s).  Other times it sounds like he has no idea what the word is or how it's supposed to be pronounced.  There is another category - words he just doesn't pronounce properly, such as 'powerful', 'texting', 'theatre', the list goes on.

I've even heard George pronounce February perfectly a couple times, then revert back to 'Feb'.

Is the tongue to blame for all this?

Right.  I think for a lot of people, they don't want to be overly receptive because if it is disingenuous on "Gnoory's" part, they don't want to feel like they've been duped.  I think people want to be cautiously optimistic, but still definitely question the timing, the motive, and the sincerity based upon past history with George.

My sister is a speech pathologist.  Many times I have wanted to get her take on his speech issues, but at the end of the day, I just can't do it to her and couldn't live with myself for putting her through it.

I do feel bad that he has a speech impediment or whatever it is, but it is so darn distracting I can't even concentrate on what he's saying because I can't get beyond how he is saying it.  For example the "s's" becoming "sh" (shtrange, shpecial, etc.) are just overwhelming because of the "s's" being in so many sentences.

Maybe he is dyslexic - that could explain the reading part, but not the normal speaking when he's not reading.

Yeah, I had noticed the "Feb" thing too.  I know it's immature, but I just crack up with "texxing" and some of the others you said too.  My favorite of all time though was the "breakfussess" with the short-lived Denney's ads.

I'm out

Robert Zimmerman  rails against NASA and has faith that the private sector will secure our future in space.  This guy knows everything about anybody that's building anything to do with space travel.   He should do a LMH type segment once a month.  With or without George.  I can't tell wether I prefer the clueless index card Noory, or the engaged annoying I want to understand this so I'm gonna interrupt you with a bunch of questions Noory.  He use to say "no matter what I do, I can't please them."  He might be right.  Once I got passed Dean Radin's  drab, death-like, monotone, personality, I realized this guy was worth listening to.  He talked about an experiment based on the "two slit/particle/wave/duality" phenomenon (when observed, a particle behaves as a particle, passing through one slit - when not observed, it behaves life a wave, passing through both slits - weird... ) with someone using remote viewing to "observe" the particle, causing it to behave accordingly.  Shocking stuff.  I also like the story of the yogi that realized that the universe - the entire universe - was within him.  Cool.  Once again George wondered how the ancients gained their mystical knowledge.  "How did they know these things?"  Yet this is the same George that, at least twice a week, with tell you about that universal consciousness, "I've always called it the wireless internet," but somehow he can't seem to put the two together.  Shape up, George.  You a Coastgabber now.

I figured wallowing in shite was a daily routine. What else does he do with those hours of show prep?

There is a sense he wasn't putting much effort into the show all this time, and ended up ruining a show that was a lot of people's favorite.  Over the yeas we've gotten unpleasant responses to emails that were meant as constructive criticism, not to mention being called haters and all the rest over the air (which were more amusing than anything else).

Now he comes here and makes a few posts.  He shouldn't expect - presto - all to be forgotten.

He should be treated politely, but should also expect some hard questions.  The typical posts and comments not made in response to his posts are likely to continue as long as people listen and their complaints are not addressed.

I guess it's easy to question his sincerity, but what insincere reasons could he have to just show up here? Or even pick someone to pretend to be him.

All of what you described seems about right, but I think it's more misplaced paranoia, and even some of them not wanting to appear weak or soft on him.

And then of course the few that are just outright hostile for no reason, or because he might be a fake.

He's really starting to seem like a sweet, somewhat naive, old man that just wants to learn a thing or two about a small aspect of his audience.

And quietly in the background John Lear chuckles

I see the sincerity issue as sort of what Paper*Boy was saying just above here.

Not wanting to appear weak or soft is a good point.

Totally agree with the naive comment.  I think he probably led a very sheltered life as a child, and is somewhat naive and sees the world a lot differently than most of us do.

I have the sense that Noory is genuinely bewildered by the attitudes he sees here, and maybe with good reason. Affiliates, listeners, low-power vs. high-power stations, none of those things matters in itself. The only real measure of success in broadcast media (and almost all other businesses) is: Is C2C a profitable piece of Clear Channel's business ? If so, and I assume it is, why wouldn't Noory think he is doing a good job, despite the opinions of a few dozen regular posters here ? Few people here actually listen to the show anyway, and it seems to me like the folks who do must be getting what they want.

I'd guess Noory knows he could do the job better, but is getting what he wants without going to any extra effort, so why worry about it ? That describes almost everyone I've ever worked with (or for) and might even describe me at times in my life.

I have no idea why he started posting at CoastGab, but the Art Bell announcement obviously had something to do with it. I don't expect his presence here to last long.
