That used to be a procedure for epileptic seizures, back sometime in the 50's or 60's (not sure about dates).  They would cut the corpus callosum linking the left and right cortex to stop the electrochemical feedback between the two halves.  The left brain literally wouldn't know what the left hand was doing (left brain controls the right side).  Is your post on this a coincidence?

I'll never understand why George spends his time buffing and plumping his resume, chasing after other gigs that he sucks at - like 'writing' 'books', the DVDs, George Time/George's Insider Club/Talk to George stuff, the various failed TV show ventures, and now these GiamTV YouTube video monstrosities, and thinking up excuses for his lazy approach to the show (redundancies are for 'the new listeners', doing interviews cold - on the fly - are 'more fresh', failure to challenge guests or be skeptical in any way is because the show 'isn't about yelling and screaming', no prep work at all because he 'can't read every book by every guest') - on and on, excuse after excuse.

If instead of all that he would have spent time flipping through a few books, done a little research on guests, prepared a few questions based on that instead of using a stack of the same questions he asks every guest, maybe he could have developed into an ok interviewer over time.  Reading a newspaper once n awhile and taking a few courses at the local community college on subjects like history, geography, intro to science, etc a few day a week couldn't have hurt.  Are there classes on idioms, grammar, word definitions and general use of the language?

Wanting to be good at your job isn't enough.  It takes effort.  For some reason George either cannot understand this, or will not.  And now, even if he were to want to, anything he does is going to be too little too late.

So true.  My main complaint with the guy is simply that he just doesn't seem interested enough to really dig into the topics, and interact with the guests in a thoughtful way.  He tries to feign interest alot with trite comments like "That's fascinating" or "Good point", etc., but you can tell, he just doesn't have a driving curiosity that hosts like Art, Ian, or George K. have.  If he did then show prep and engaging for real with the guests wouldn't be work as much as a joyful endeavor.  I think he sees himself more as a "radio/tv personality" rather than a seeker of knowledge, and that superficial style results in a shallow experience for the listener.

Being weaned off of Dave and going back to Art brings up a good point.  It will literally be like going from third grade level to graduate school level in one night.  I know we can all handle it, but the true Davites (at their intelligence level) if they have never heard Art before, may have trouble.  If they think Dave is a good interviewer, they are going to be in for a huge surprise.

Yes.  I just did a quick fly by the O.L.'s of last night because that was all I could stomach.  Those side affects will kill ya.  And several people indeed mentioned Art to the dip-shit.  He, as usual, made many pathetic, nonsensical and grammatically incorrect noises and grunts.  I especially found his "intro-announcement" of Art's return to the air waves ABSOLUTELY nauseating.  He sounded like he was talking about somebody who just got cancer and had a short time to live.

I can't wait!  I loathe that oaf beyond anything.  I would pay Sirius 10 dollars and 15 cents a day to watch Noory's demise!

Parts of his brain make it impossible for him to do anything correctly.  In a nutshell he is mentally fucked and actually is incapable.  He can't be discussed logically.  He is however self aware in a most distasteful way.  I used to think just stupid but I've upgraded the dx to stupid/asshole.

I think he sees himself as a Dr Morgus type - the offbeat guy that introduced late night horror movies on TV back in Detroit when young George was growing up.  Someone who had his own fans, but left the actual content of the show to someone else, and was there to start the show off and be there coming back from commercials.

Unfortunately for George, there are two things he seems unaware of.  First, people watching (and in this case listening) have to like the entertainer and his or her schtick.  George is just not very likable to most.  The other thing is talent - even the guy introducing the movie has it if he's doing it well - but George has shown nothing to indicate he is even aware that talent exists, let alone that some people have it and others don't.  And he doesn't.

Bad comparison in my opinion. I wouldn't compare noory to either tuco or angel eyes. Those two were smart, clever, redeemable assholes. Noory is not.  Hes just an asshole.

What is weird is art has made known he does not like the current C2C program.

Noory has also mentioned he has emailed Art and he did not respond.
