Thanks, that was the one! So it was fake I guess.  It sounded so weird at the time and I thought maybe he did hit him.

Klashik ekshampul of Joorch not paying attention. Right at the top of the show, he brought an expert on to discuss the earthquake in Japan. The expert, citing another big quake today, says he sees the release of pressure moving towards Europe and that we should keep an eye on the West Coast of the USA where he thinks there will be an increase in activity, but only small quakes: he doesn't anticipate any large quakes.
And Joorch immediately asks, 'What about our West Coast here, Stan? Do you see anything happening there?'

Can't help but tune in since I like S. Shostak.  He mentions it would take 100 thousand years to get to Alpha Centauri with our fastest rockets.

A few mins. later George wonders how long it would take to do exactly the same thing, guessing "a zillion years".

So next time the Coast Guard picks up some sort of Jaqpanese...

For me, the best way to listen to Noory is just to think of him as someone who didn't make the cut for The Three Stooges because he was too stupid.

Noory just referred to "Sumerian Sandskrits" :o

I dont' know if Uri Geller is a fraud or not, but in excusing Geller's appearance with Johnny Carson (if that's what you're referring to) Mishlove mentioned how even the best major league baseball hitters rarely hit above 0.300.  And right after Mishlove said that, Noory said "Well, just look at baseball players, I mean, they rarely hit about 0.300."

I suspect after that Mishlove wondered to himself if it was he or Noory that can't hit anything (Mishlove for appearing on a show with a host who doesn't listen to what the guest is saying.)

He was really in fine form last night, 0 for 3 as an interviewer. Repeating what the guests said or simply not listening to the answers and repeating the question or pondering something the guest already mentioned. Both with Stan Deyo, Shostak, and Mishlove. It was unbeleefable.

George may realize that he has certain mental deficiencies, which propelled him into this vitamin/natural healing kick.

Taking a cue from Art, he Norry just keeps getting better and better.  He has one of the most pleasing radio voices on the air.

Albrecht, what is your opinion of this overall. Sometimes I find it to be incredibly annoying, but other times I admit I just find the stupidity unbeleefably amusing.

Everyso often he has a decent guest with some interesting theory or story. But, for the most part, I listen as background noise when I'm doing something else and hardly ever live. And listening as a form of comedy: what word will Norry muddle or mispronounce, what question will he ask again, what musing will he bring up again, when will he name drop, what metaphor will be mixed, who flustered or befuddled a serious guest will become not realizing what he got himself into, etc.

:D

Maybe George Noory is the April fools day three-headed monster (three-headed person) that Premiere Networks is playing on Coast to Coast listeners. It's all just performance art.

My favorite part of the show yesterday, in the middle of the second hour (I am paraphrasing it but it's pretty close)

-Noory "So what will be technology 10,000 years from now|
~Seth  "I don't think we can predict that, it would be like looking back 10,000  years and asking I society that just started agriculture predict what will happen now.
_Noory "And the pyramids"
~Seth *awkward silence* "Well 10,000 years is before that, it's more the end of hunter/gather era"

Oh Jorch, you were close at least, give or take 5,000 years  ;D

I not going to hate Jorge too much, I'll take a fumble or two like that by him if we can have decent guest like Seth talking SETI.

I'm beginning to think performance art is the only logical explanation remaining for Noory.  One day a year he does an obvious April Fools day joke, and every other day he's on the air, he just makes fools of all his listeners.

...and the guests.

I wonder how many showers his credible guests have to take before they feel clean again after being interviewed by Noory.

These upcoming guests sound brilliant.  If they've ever had the (no) pleasure of listening to Noory they must cringe at the thought of how they're going to have to compromise themselves in order to get their ideas into the public sphere:

Upcoming show, Monday April 18

First Half: Professor of geomorphology at the University of Washington David R. Montgomery and biologist Anne Bikle address the latest scientific discoveries and theories surrounding the microbial world and our tangled relationship with microbes and their potential to revolutionize agriculture and medicine, from garden to gut.

Noory to them: The Big Bang, I don't get it.

Them to Noory: We don't either.  We're not physicists.

Noory (pressing the point) No, but you're scientists...

O.K that was sort of a joke, but I'd be shocked if Noory doesn't say to them at some point,

Noory: I don't want to call it God, but...

I've pondered your theory over the years but don't think it is the case. I don't think Norry is an idiot but someone who grew up sheltered in an ethnic, multi-generational home n lucked out, and willing to put it the time, in a time-slot in which management didnt care and in a company more concerned with buying assets and now selling them off. He shows up n no competition. So? Keep him on. Btw, it is guests like these that I like because fun...when they realize wtf did I get into? When the fumbling questions? The bizarre side-tracks and then the callers! Ha. You can imagine them, rapidly txting their agent.."why you set this up?" And, often, almost sadness like "this is what the state of the country/education has become?"

I must admit, there is an odd entertainment value at times listening to Noory. At times he reminds me of the friend in school who has to do a 10-minute book report, and you damn well know he didn't read the book. He might have read two chapters of the beginning and the end, and maybe the back cover. Somehow he has to stretch that for ten minutes lol.  It's oddly entertaining watching him try to "wing it" and see if the teacher is buying it.

Yes I also enjoy the awkward silence when Noory ask a ridiculous question, or something the guest JUST answered in his previous answers but Noory asks anyways lol.

I think Noory would be happiest if he had 3 days open lines, a day of critical health informercial and a day with LMH report. It would be his dream work, where he just sits back an let other do the work for him or just follow a simple infomercial script.
