Tried listening to a show the other night since a poster mentioned Dave's gaffe -- he said the guest's book was called "The Last Intervention" while introducing the guest. The guest corrected him that the title was "The Last Invention"... to which Snoory replied -- "I have the last intervention written down here..." -- DUH what a fucking idiot!! IF he had even bothered to do an iota of research on the guest the FIRST thing he'd have learned was the CORRECT TITLE of the book the guest was there to promote! Sheeesh - what a sorry sack of cowdung.  ::)

Amen!

I haven't been listening to Dave for a few weeks now.  However the other night, after listening to Art's fun show with LMH, I tuned into C2C out of curiousity.  Dave had a cool guest on, this science writer who has a book out about the hunt for exoplanets.  I was able to listen for awhile, since the topic fascinates me, and the guest was quite engaging I thought.

But after a little while, the old Dave cringe-inducing patterns once again interfered with my enjoyment - asking a question that was just explained by the guest literally minutes earlier, or totally misunderstanding some basic premise of the conversation, or switching topics jarringly to the whatever the next 3x5 card demanded.  The guest was remarkably accomodating, trying not to point out what a bad interview it was, and trying to not make Dave feel embarassed about it, but no guest should be treated like that.

What a waste.  That's what originally brought me here - that experience of low-hanging fruit being left unpicked, all the great conversations that might-have-been.  Listening to Art's new shows (along with some classics), with his intellectually curious style, and rapport with the guests, is just making what's left of c2c harder and harder to listen to at all.

Wow!  Very well said!   I hope SOMEONE from Coast reads your post.

Tommy needs to write down on a 3X5 for Dave, "Leave studio, find cliff, walk straight ahead...."  ;)

Mr. Snorry,  How in the world did you end up at the bottom of this cliff??

It was on my notes.  Ta Da...

My primary concern is Dave might have a hard time finding a cliff on his own.  Tommy may have to drive him to one.  Tommy knows  LA.  ;)

You oh so still SUCK George!!! Get your shit together man!

Before I start on this topic, I have one thing to say :

GO BUCS !

Pittsburgh Pirates Battleship Animation

I compare Snoory to a guy who would get the clap, get a shot, get it again and still won't use a condom or find someone who's not infected.
That guy will never learn and neither will Snoory.
You all say he must improve but its not inside him.
It's why people who are great like Honus or Roberto continued to be great, while the mediocre like Noory become worse.
He'll NEVER improve and that's another HUGE reason why George Noory Sucks.

Sorry I hate the Bucs. Horrible, nasty organization. They have never been the same since they got rid of Syd Thrift and Jim Leyland.

Thanks Neb!  Unfortunately I think it's kind of a lost cause at this point.  So my current plan is to:

1) Keep listening to Art on Sirius as long as I can cover the costs
2) Listen to G. Knapp whenever he's on Coast
3) If Noory's got a good guest on, extend my limited tolerance for all his verbal manglings by wearing a pair of thick oven mitts, so I can facepalm myself without injury

Morgus

Darn its the first Sunday of the month again already.
That means Noory hosts tonight with his 'submerging' artists... :P

Yep, that's my plan as well!  I have Sirius on my vehicles.......but, it's posted on YOU TUBE now, so I can enjoy it on my computer (for free).

I was thinking the same thing, Morgus.  No Knapp tonight.  Just another crapfest with The Nooron.  Thank God, Art's back.  I'm going to play his LMH show.  I haven't listened to it yet.

I agree .. how can one cheer for a team that got its name from a group of seagoing thieves and rapists?? No wonder their fans act like they do ... and seriously doubt if their stadium would have been even half-full today if there was a hockey or football game in town for them to go to and be drunk and belligerent at instead... what a bunch bandwagon jumpers. Half the crowd was wearing Steelers or Penguins garb (good thing all Pitts teams colors are black and gold) and if you polled the whole ballpark what ERA stands for I would be willing to wager WELL over half would reply - Equal Rights Amendment.  ???

What a lame topic.  This kind of social issue blather is on all day and night on radio & tv.  I used to tune into c2c to specifically avoid this stuff.  Oh and Noory's recounting the story of his valiant handling of his school's bully, which not only saved the other students, but made the bully into a better person ... well, oh never mind, I don't care anymore.

Morgus

Noory added a guest to talk about bullying?
Off goes the AM radio and on comes an Art Bell Sirius replay tonight...

I don't know how GN's guests would make it through their interview if GN didn't finish their sentences.

At the end of Friday nights sign off, GN said "and our buddy, Art Bell".   hmmm...GN certainly has gone nutty over Art's return--up and down-- so I guess as of last Friday they are bf's--in GN's mind.   Odd thing is I don't think GN is embarrassed over any of his actions.

GN also seems to think that things that happen in the movies are real life.

Time for me to follow Morgus and switch the channel.    8)

I just turned in about 20 minutes ago. Open lines about bullying? Its been pretty dull so far, I guess it can get worse. What happened to the rancher?

Why would you start?

I knew this would happen :) My fault for making a statement that sounds like it need a punchline..
I mean really though, I can't find the way out!

Did you all see Art's FB post?

"I would like to thanks the people at Bell Gab and people who love Art Bell as well as the other support groups out there. It's sure fun doing REAL Radio."

How do you quit CoastInsider?
I'm a CoastOutsider so I don't know for sure.

If the mag arrives via email/electronically there must be an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the page.

If it comes via snail mail, maybe you can go back to the page where you ordered it and email them from there.

Last idea is to email Tommy and tell him to let your people go.  One of those ought to work.

I tuned to hear him too.  I caught about 30 minutes of him--during the third hour-- and GN gave him the boot.  Lee McCormick was very interesting but the interview was too much work for GN.  I'm going to get his book.

Not the old owners as far as I know and now willing to spend money to keep players instead of losing them to free agency. And as I understand it, they've made major changes to their farm system as well. I've been a Pirates fan since I was 3. Good or bad, I still love my Pittsburgh teams.

You'd be wrong, me bucko. There are a lot of Pirates fans who know all too well what an ERA is. They've been looking at them for 18 losing seasons.
And Steelers bars are all over the country, so you never know where you're going to find Pittsburghers.
As for the Pirates, the fans and the people of the city know the team is not composed of real Pirates but there is a historical explanation for that. WE just have fun with it, that's all. When I was born, the Bucs were in the cellar that year too until Murtaugh turned the team around.

Where and how did the Pittsburgh Pirates get their name from?
In: Baseball, Pittsburgh Pirates

Answer:

"The new owners also signed up several players from American Association teams. One of them was highly regarded second baseman Lou Bierbauer, who had previously played with the A.A.'s Philadelphia Athletics. The Athletics failed to include him on their reserve list, and the Alleghenys picked him up. This led to loud protests by the Athletics, and in an official complaint, an AA official claimed the Alleghenys' actions were "piratical."This incident (which is discussed at some length in The Beer and Whisky League, by David Nemec, 1994) quickly accelerated into a schism between the leagues that contributed to the demise of the A.A. Although the Alleghenys were never found guilty of wrongdoing, they made sport of being denounced for being "piratical" by renaming themselves "the Pirates" for the 1891 season. The nickname was first acknowledged on the team's uniforms in 1912."

HEH! - see My loyaltees would be much different to the point peeps would think I'm a bandwagon jumper till they realize, I was watching the Steelers all thru the 90's when...um lets say they were NOT so good (YES YES they went to the superbowl in 96 or whatever it was there).  THen for MLB (I hardly watch anymore, but I've always been a Red-Birds' fan, I grew up in Central Illinois, we had a PPG plant around, so that's why I liked Pitt Football, had a lot of friends/friends' family that cheered em on, and byproxy I became a fan.  LOVE me some Blackhawks and Bulls (when Jordan quit so did I) and that's probably how I'll end being a blackhawks fan.  When that team is finally broken apart. :-\

Reminds me of the lame NEA commercial that has teachers saying they won't allow bullying in their school by proclaiming not "in my school!!!," in a bullying manner, of course.  ::)  I wonder how many times after school Dave was chased home by the other kids.

Since there are more than 2 people on the planet, bullying is probably here to stay. Turning a blind eye however, is a bad idea. Bullying is personal and it does set up a knee jerk reaction or similar behavior as one grows emotionally.

I do think that the argument against bullying a bully is perhaps a bit short sighted. If one murders another often times the death penalty is used. Not saying either strategy is correct, but the only "quick" way to show a bully what that behavior produces is to exact similar behavior towards the bully. However many bullies are merely reflecting learned behaviors from home. *shrugs*
