Gee, never saw this coming.  Brazil has declared an emergency and wants a billion dollar handout; say otherwise the Olympics will be a mess with poor security.  My suggestion is to seize all assets of the fuckwit crooks on the International Olympic Committee who voted to award the Games to Rio.

I agree.

Well, this is what happens when you give Olympics to countries like that.  What's next?  Winter Olympics in Zimbabwe?

Congress has proposed a bill to create the Ministry of Truth from the book 1984

They will create an agency to develop, plan, and synchronize, in coordination with the Secretary of Defense, the Director of National Intelligence, the Broadcasting Board of Governors, and other relevant departments and agencies, whole-of-government initiatives to expose and counter foreign information operations directed against United States national security interests and proactively advance fact-based narratives that support United States allies and interests.

Amazing. Though propaganda on US citizens was formally legalized (the Ad Council, PBS, and the drug stuff has been doing it for decades) but Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and Foreign Relations Authorization Act in 1987 were, essentially, eliminated by the 2012 NDAA.

Beyond the Beltway tonight is funny; listening to the more leftists parse and defend radical Islam and the verboten phrase. Also, interesting, some Catholic service for the latest victims of Islam considering the official, for now, position, of homosexuality and out of marriage sex. Reform there coming?

"The purpose of releasing the partial transcript of the shooter's interaction with 911 operators was to provide transparency, while remaining sensitive to the interests of the surviving victims, their families, and the integrity of the ongoing investigation. We also did not want to provide the killer or terrorist organizations with a publicity platform for hateful propaganda," the FBI and the Justice Department said in a joint statement emailed to reporters."

So the FBI has reversed itself and released the full transcript of the 911 call. What was the problem here, the policy itself or their application of it in this case? IMO, it's the latter. There are plenty of situations where not needlessly repeating and further publicizing enemy propaganda should be the main concern. That shouldn't have been the main concern with this transcript, where Americans need facts and evidence of what happened in Orlando.

The FBI made a bad call on this one. The thing that would compound this error would be if they decided to categorize this terrorist act as a hate crime or a mass murder. It is all of these things, but it is first and foremost a terrorist act perpetrated by an ISIS follower.

Maybe they should consider "trigger warnings" next time, for people who can't handle the evidence -- or whatever truth it points to.

Especially since this was the first official DOJ release of a single word of the 9/11 calls made by the killer.  The contortions are almost painful to watch.  Almost.  HMH is staying well clear of Orlando until the news cycle moves on.  Nothing about it can help her.

Why "almost?" It's definitely painful to me. When you have the executive branch trying to change the subject of this terrorist act by diminishing and avoiding the terrorist nature of it, that's a serious problem.

It may be "the worst mass shooting in American history" but mainly it is "the most lethal terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11."

Btw, let's make sure we type 9/11 or 911 depending on which we mean.

Calling it the "worst shooting" is like saying 9/11 was the worst aviation crash.  Sorry about the typo, Sister Agnes.

Worst shooting?  Try Wounded Knee.

+1.  But that was multiple shooters...in US Army uniforms.

That puts the problem very well. Perception isn't reality, it's just perception ("perception is reality" is truthy but not true). Reality is often too hard to figure out, or accept to the extent you can figure it out, for most people. They prefer to go with reality lite.

;D That kid is ridiculously talented. Wasn't that into the impressions but his timing and ability to work that crowd was amazing. Truly blessed with natural talent.

LMAO!!! ;D ;D ;D

This kid is GOOD!  If he runs for president, when he is old enough to, I'd vote for him.  But I'll be dead by then - probably.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but here's my prediction. Hillary will be indicted for the emails or Bengazi and will have to drop out. A third party candidate will pop up, not sure who, but will beat Trump. Don't see it being Sanders, Cruz, or Rubio, but someone sitting in the wings.... Any guesses on who it could be? I agree with the idea of Trump leading because of the need to shake up the status quo that has stagnated DC. BUT, I hope a viable candidate could still show themselves. Could be there is a medication that could make me accept Hillary or Trump completely? Don't want it if there is... Let us pray (prey)

Viva sanity! Never heard of Johnson before. Many of the "good ones" who are intolerable of the status quo go unheralded today, sadly... Thanks Walks

I cannot see that we will ever have gun control in the US.
Bill Maher once made the comment that there are a lot of liberals who own guns and more who have no personal guns but hire bodyguards who are armed.
Micheal Moore is a member of the NRA.
Paul Begalla has guns - lots of them.

This MSNBC poll evidently was open to the public, but I've not heard of any right wing source urging their public to vote in it:

If we cannot stop drugs from coming into the country, we will not be able to stop guns from doing the same.

Just another false flag to keep the dittoheads from looking at real issues. I'm a progressive social democrat. Or as we are affectionately called around here "libertards". And I shoot to kill

Nope, not going to happen. This late in the game Trump has it locked down, and he's shown that he has the popularity to win this.  Also remember that Hillary has not had a real press conference in 200+ days!  The moment she is finally forced out of hiding and begins to answer real questions her support will plummet beyond your wildest dreams.

Now, it's certainly possible that an establishment turtle like Jeb will make an attempt to steal the nomination from Trump, but in that scenario Trump goes third party and will pull more support that way.  Hillary is so toxic that she will lose, maybe even to a third party Trump.
