Things That Annoy You

I will agree that people driving with their headlights on when I am wearing sunglasses  8) and it is obviously still daylight out is absolute fucking bullshit. Do these "I am all about safe" assholes realize they are more prone to cause an accident by partially blinding innocent motherfuckers, especially ones with contacts, with their assoholic bright lights? Stupid dickheads, I really get offended when they think I should have my lights on and flash me. I high beam those motherfuckers and turn my vehicle into an assault unit if need be. Shove that headlight up their ass like a fuckin dildo.

MV/Liberace!

So how does Netflix compare with Amazon Prime? I'm feeling a bit disenchanted with Netflix streaming these days. Hard to find anything worth watching. If Amazon is better, I'll switch.

I learned recently that a lot of new cars just have the headlights on all the time, and there's no way to turn them off.  Don't know if that's true or not, my newest car is 15 years old.

I ditched Netflix too, seems like they lost most of their good content.  I go without any service now, I find a pretty amazing selection of things to watch for free on sites like daily motion and youtube.

And those blinding "blue-white" headlamps - I wish I could find a fabricator for my heart's desire: a twin-.50 cal front-mounted electric turret to take those selfish fuckers out.

I just took a cursory look at Amazon Prime, searching for a couple of dozen movies that Netflix doesn't stream, and it appears that Amazon doesn't include the same films (that I looked for) in the free Prime streaming. The list of movies available free to Prime subscribers looks suspiciously like the list at Netflix, which suggests some kind of copyright or other rights thing (?) Of course, you also get free Amazon shipping, so for around the same price, Prime looks like the better deal.

Most(?) of the movies on Prime aren't free, with some costing up to $6 to "buy," and a lot of the TV series have to be bought a series at a time to be viewed, which is something like $20. New releases aren't usually included in the free Prime selection. Netflix doesn't do new releases well either, but at least 100% of the streaming content is included with your subscription fee.

Well, the thing about Amazon Prime is, they have a fantastic selection of TV and Movies, but many times you still have to pay a couple bucks. If you like older movies, or films that didn`t get the notoriety of the 'bigger" productions  and TV series from a few years ago, it`s great.

Personally, I love Amazon Prime, if for no other reason than the fact that I order A LOT of stuff and the FREE 2 day shipping has already paid for the service ($79 PER YEAR) MANY times over.

My 2001 Lexus has the "daytime headlights" on by default, and they're actually the hi-beams on at a lower voltage.  No real way to shut them off without disabling the hi-beams.  The newer headlight bulbs can be hard to change, too, without going to a mechanic.

Like those damnable "Service Engine Soon" lights which can't be turned off except at a factory authorized service center. Just consider that: the whole point of a bogus "warning light" is to intimidate or irritate the owner into getting his oil changed at 3,000 miles at the dealership, which charges about double what the quick-oil-change places do, and about 5 times what it would take to do it yourself if you had the ramps. I almost got into  a fistfight with a service man at a dealership once when I told him I wanted those damned lights disabled. They said the manufacturer would fire them if they did it, regardless of the fact I owned the vehicle outright.

And then I thought of government fines for not paying the exorbitant fees to "correctly" dispose of car batteries, tires, oil and the like. And then there are criminal laws about odometers, and governors on engines which prevent vehicles from traveling over a  certain speed. So I really can't do with my vehicle what I want. And I finally understood that I don't really own my vehicle: the manufacturer and the government do. I just make the payments for them, and they let me ride in it some...if I obey their rules.

Pretty much as you say it. But the odometer thing... that protects lots of people from what otherwise could be a pretty easy way to defraud. Tell me used car salesmen wouldn't if there were no regulations. I am kinda glad my next door neighbor cant dump his used oil and spent batteries on the down slope of his back yard that drains into the stream that also graces my back yard.
And I dunno, for me, I have yet to be all that bothered by another's headlights on in the daytime. I do get a bit torked by after market lift kits on pickups that then place those headlights directly in my sightline.

Thank the gods for the Internet, though.... it's our countermeasure to companies assuming more and more control over their products and dictating how we use and maintain them.

I can't count how many times I've figured out how to do things, found cheap parts, etc., by looking online instead of going to the mechanic.

Absolutely true, but principle is a slippery slope, and once you get started....

As far as draining onto your property, that's not permitted because of a trespass on your property. Warn him, demand a return of your property to the condition ante res, and then to upon failure you may kill him with a clear conscience. See? Property rights intact and everyone happy.

Toyota headlights are on by default. I agree those damn blue ones in BMWs are irritating.I get a pain in the back of my eyes from them,Compact florescent bulbs give me eyestrain.I am looking for daylight ones like the old vita light tubes.I found some Ott ones on line but they were $29 each for a cfl.

The Amber Alerts they broadcast to interrupt TV.

I can assure them, if the car with the kid comes through my living room, the kidnapping will not be top priority.

I was recently talking about this.  Broadcasting them on TV is almost pointless.  No one is going to write down that info and go out looking for this car in question.  It's just not going to happen.  If you are out on the roads where this is occurring, you're not getting the info.  It was just a feel good idea that was poorly thought out.

The last national alert I remember paying attention to was about Susan Smith's kids in South Carolina. That's the last time I listened. They've proven to have about as much validity as claims of threats made by the KKK against college students.

Nope, doesn't work in this neck of the woods.   :(
I'd rather face a falling tree than a jerk with 4-wheel-drive on a snowy road.

Thanks.  I slid into a ditch in Iowa last week.  No big deal and no car damage, until a truck followed me into the ditch and creamed my car.

It's been that long? I'm pretty sure that can be blamed for Nancy Grace having a career. My brother-in-law watches that stuff. That and those "murder entertainment" shows on cable - those 48 hour style investigative reports that feature a murder case per episode. Him and my sister can watch those from dawn till dusk. Nonstop murder and rape day after day. Can't stand to be in the same room as that depressing shit.

Ouch. That is indeed annoying.

Hell, most of our teachers haven't been teachers for at least two generations of schoolkids. Many have had no more instruction in the subjects they teach than the minimum course requirements to graduate from college. Instead, they know dozens of "theories of learning", and how whole language concepts helped Maori kids to read in 1987 in N.Z. Such "teachers" are nothing more than apparatchiks and loyal union members. Real teachers cannot succeed in our current American education system. I pity those who have a passion for true teaching, because their lives must be terribly frustrating.

My girlfriend watches that foolishness and I really don't get it. She counters with "you have all those books about serial killers..." which is true, to me, reading a 300 page book is quite different than these drawn out trials that are treated like you say as "murder entertainment" with vultures like Nancy Grace and company getting wealthy off the misfortune of others. And 90% of those serial killer books I accumulated between the ages of 10-25. I've largely grown out of that.
