Dude . . . No. Not a sauce.

I really wanted to stick up for the millennials and alternative media here. But, after viewing horrorshow.jpg
I have to agree with my comrades and say, "dude?"

According to Real Clear Politics, the last L.A Times/USC poll in the 2012 election was in August of that year.

NBC News/Wall St. Jrnl   8/16 - 8/20   1000 RV   3.1   48   44   Obama +4
Associated Press/GfK   8/16 - 8/20   885 RV   4.1   47   46   Obama +1
Monmouth/SurveyUSA/Braun   8/15 - 8/19   1149 LV   2.9   46   45   Obama +1
LA Times/USC  8/13 - 8/19   954 LV   3.2   48   46   Obama +2

But, as you can see, their last poll in 2012 was consistent with the other firms' polls.

However, for this cycle, L.A Times/USC have changed their polling methodology quite a bit.  Even they admit their new methodology skews in the Republican favor.  I've already commented on this.

Thanks for that, that's how I missed it. I was only looking at results for the month before the election I didn't go back before that, as I was just looking at "final prediction". That result was before or around the conventions wasn't it, that's kind of strange that they didn't bother putting anything out in the final month of the election.

Not to pick on you specific, but I have seen the LA Times/USC poll being hyped huge among Trump supporters on twitter and pro Trump boards. There's at least 20 different polling companies tabulating results regularly yet Trump supporters are just focusing on this one poll. But why, does the LA Times have this great history of predicting national elections? Seriously what was their prediction for 2012 election, how close were they to Obama 4-point win? How about 2008 election, how close were they to Obama 7-point win? I honestly been looking around and I can't find anything. You can mock Silver all you want but the guy AT LEAST has a track record and he got 99 out of a 100 states correct in the last 2 general elections combined.

It's fascinating that they way Trump supporters look at something like polls might be the same way the look at science and I am assuming other political issues also. Is this how the Climate change deniers work? There's 20 studies out there and they find 1 or 2 that contradict and then wave it bey saying "The science isn't yet" even though those conflicting studies have no track record or resume behind it?

This is the same kind of selective thinking and bias that gets people killed in wartime. One classic example is cited in "A Bridge Too Far," concerning the military planning for Operation Market Garden in World War II.

The big brass decided to downplay the presence of a German panzer division around Arnhem, the objective of the operation. The result was a disaster and lots of senseless casualties.

I'm sure everyone who read the book or saw the movie understood the problem and shook their heads. But some of them do the same kind of selective thinking routinely (with less obvious consequences).

The reasons why don't say anything good about human nature.

I don't get the big deal about Trump not paying taxes for a number of years.  What he did was perfectly legal and he is not under prosecution for it.  If he was doing something wrong, the IRS would have been on top of him faster than you could say Jackie Robinson.

Much ado about nothing.

LOL. The New York Times news staff are ones to talk.  Hypocrites.

Those that don't understand the risks of running a business believe that the government should get the lion's share of any profits but that business owners should eat any losses. Simple as that.

That serves as an antithesis to my ideology.  People should keep as much of their money as they legally can.  Our government budget is far too high as it is.

Not just about taxes. First, Trump takes hundreds of millions from banks and investors (other people's money), telling them he'll make them money on real estate and casinos. Then, he mismanages and drives his businesses into huge losses, avoiding bankruptcy by giving investors pennys on the dollars while stiffing his contractors and vendors. Next, he uses their lost investment capital, nearly $1 billion, as a monster capital loss which he then personally uses (presumably) to avoid paying income taxes for nearly 20 years.

He's not the success story he claims to be and has demonstrated the total lack of smarts and integrity necessary to be POTUS. You need to look at the whole picture, not just whether he or anyone should br able to deduct their losses. Remember, if you lose money, it's your money that's lost. Trump lost other people's money and didn't mind a bit. He still came out ahead.

Well the government wastes other people's money every year so he should be right at home.  The fed pilfers our social security savings and wastes money on inconsequential studies among other things.

Simple, it's because the guys a complete moocher. He complains about illegal immigrants and wants to build a great wall, but wants everybody else to pay for it as he avoid to pay his fair share. He wraps himself around the flag and the troops, but avoids taxes to for the post military care. He whines about the national airports not being up to his standards, as he flys around in his personal plane yet, yet he avoids  contributing to help maintain the airports that he utilizes a hell of a lot more than 95% of the people (at least) The real definition of as well-fare King is Trump. BTW when he avoiding taxes, the burden goes to other people who aren't bragging about shitting gold bricks.

As for not being "illlegal" sure I will give you that. But isn't one of the biggest political pet peeves in any government be it city, state or federally when politicians abuse the system for themselves. Kinda like using the office budget to give themselves parties or spending right up to the budget on stuff that's not even necessary but reply with "Hey I am allowed to do it, i didn't break any rules" we all hate when they do that. That what he and his yes-men are saying he doing. Yet you telling me his "different" than any other politician when every time you look at him he does the exact same thing or worse. He gaming the system as a private businessman he will game the system as a politician. There is nothing honest about him.

Right, if you someone in charge who can do a bang-up job of wasting taxpayer money, vote for Trump. He's got the experience and track record to do that job.

You don't even understand how the tax code works you ignorant sock puppet. Hillary and Bill wrote off used underwear on their taxes, and the lawyers used to defend Bill against Paula Jones. If you invest in business you pay taxes on the profits, and are able to write off losses. If you lose significant amounts, you can write it off over time into the future...taxes for business are not treated the same as payroll taxes...why? because workers who draw a salary do not have their PERSONAL CAPITAL on the line! DUH...

I posted that mainly to look at the demographics and demonstrate which was different demographics are leaning. I don't really pay attention to polls as they are repeatedly shown as useless. Yet this LA Times poll is interesting because it supplies so much info.

A few weeks ago when Trump was ahead on most of them, I wonder what you would have been saying then. They all have bias in some way. But like I said, the LA Times one is the most interesting because it's supplying the most info.

I don't know why people need to tear it apart. It's not like it has the lack of credibility like the Washington Post or CNN.

Plus the fact Trump was pandering to the base rustling their collective jimmies. Stirring up their emotions as a ploy to collect votes for "Trump Make America Great Again." Over the fact companies are not paying any taxes. Meanwhile hes engaging in the very same practice he himself declares as a problem, which is eroding Americas greatness.

Such talking points could be seen as hypocrisy. The only people who can't see it, would be those who are playing the cognitive dissonance game, or a greedy Falkie segment of the GOP. Whos underlying ideology is "I got mine give to me, fuck off! Go git ur own somewhere else." Which is the crux of the, much ado about nothing.

My cognitive dissonance is really causing my myopia to act up.

It wasn't HIS PERSONAL CAPITAL he wrote off, but investors capital. Though he did nothing illegal, it is however a classic example of hypocrisy.

Yes, the way he's spinning his past to his supporters takes the scam to a whole new level of irony and hypocrisy. Today, in a speech, he blamed his business failures on the early '90s recession, which he says was Bill's fault.

Did anybody in that audience know that the recession was well under way when Bill took office? Probably not. Did he mention how all his rotten business decisions are what really led to his fall (Trump Shuttle, Plaza Hotel, multiple casinos badly run and over budget, etc.)? Nope. Ignorance is bliss.

If he were a good businessman, he would've stayed out of the politics and just made the hats for the candidates. Nobody would have even mentioned their being made in Pakistan or Honduras.

I know how awful Clinton is.  She showed her incompetence when she was secretary of state. Then there is her scheming and other shenanigans.  Trump could very well be incompetent too but I'll give him a chance. If he sucks then it is no great loss.  I don't expect much from him anyway.

This is the big flaw in your thinking. The rest makes some kind of sense, but this part shows that you're not appreciating the gravity of the risks. (Gravity sucks, you know.)

I'm not worried about wars with Trump in office.  I am with Hillary though.  Her side is trying to instigate something with Putin which is odd because the Democrats in general have a soft stances when it comes to the military. They have gutted it severely under the Obama administration but I predict a bit of a change with Hillary in office.  The Clintons are very hawkish in many instances.  Trump should take on Isis but probably will not get involved anywhere else unless another country instigates something.

You see Trump as an ill-tempered childish buffoon who may get trigger happy with the nuclear codes.  Yes he can be a bit of a buffoon but I don't see him as a hawkish warmonger.
