No, it's the obvious reality.

What is it with all these American Putintards?

Donald can sell any kind of crap to almost any of his supporters, including selling Putin. They'll buy it on the basis that he's not Hillary, so he must be telling the truth.

Jackstar isn't a Trump supporter.  I'm sure this is true with some Trump supporters, but many of those who admired Putin (mostly on the right, but to a large degree the fringe right) did so long before Trump came along with this Presidential campaign.

There are also a few Putin enablers among people I would have thought would have been on the sensible left like Russian Studies Professor Stephen F. Cohen.

There are also Putin lovers on the far left, but they seem to be mainly in Canada with the reflexively anti American New Democratic Party supporters who follow foreign policy.  (The Canadian New Democratic Party, unlike most other parties here in Canada, also has affiliated provincial parties and a large number of New Democratic supporters who support the party at the provincial level and aren't concerned with federal NDP foreign policy positions.  To go even further into something I doubt anybody here cares about, official NDP policy as reflected by the positions it takes in Parliament rejects the reflexive anti American positions that many of its followers clearly have as is evidenced by checking out NDP supporter websites.)

It's interesting to me to see New Democrats on websites like rabble.ca and far right Americans like followers of Alex Jones cite the same articles in RT to back up their claims.

Just for full disclosure (or even more things nobody cares about)  I voted NDP in our most recent federal election in 2015.  I supported the Justin Trudeau Liberal Party to win the election, but we have a Parliamentary system wherein voters don't vote for the Prime Minister directly but vote for a local candidate to represent them in Parliament.  My local Liberal candidate (and now Member of Parliament) Joe Peschisolido doesn't have the best track record and I couldn't bring myself to vote for him.  There are recent accusations about him from before he was (re) elected to Parliament (he was an M.P previously from 2000-2004) when he worked as a lawyer that seem to validate my concerns about him.

There were always rightist fringe groups admiring dictators as well as leftists ready to blame the U.S., but hardly ever the Soviets, for things like the arms race. But when you have however many Trump-influenced Americans defending Russian actions in Ukraine, or sympathizing with Russian support for Assad in Syria, that's another thing altogether.

Of course, nothing is more shocking than the apologist Putin love coming out of a Republican presidential candidate.

A love affair especially started for the right when Putin snubbed Obama in 2011, though it's wained on and off since then. What's interesting to me is the right's refusal to believe Russia is meddling in our elections. Russian involvement in the DNC hacks was actually in Trump's intelligence briefing, and he's been lying about it this whole time. His base thinks our intelligence agencies are working for Hillary though, so it's impossible to even have that conversation.

it illegally annexed Crimea and illegally invaded Eastern Ukraine.

That's all really just your opinion.

As for the Trumptard or Putin enabler stuff, that's nonsense - I can call out aspects of foreign policy I don't like and it doesn't make me a Putin apologist.  Authoritarian scumbags get no sympathy from me.

At the end of the day it all comes down to trust.  I've said some nice things about Trump and enjoy how he flips the finger to the media and generally dgaf, but when it comes down to it I don't think I can trust him.  I trust Hillary even less.  I'm leaning toward 3rd parties at this point.  So chew on that before you are tempted to call me a Trumptard again just because I don't follow Hillary groupthink.

Yes, but you have to be careful here to distinguish between the old right and the new Trumpian right. The right is overall a confusing and confused mess now and the various factions don't have a common theme other than "Hillary is evil."

My other thought is that if Russia hacking the DNC was in Trump's intelligence briefing, then his "400-pound guy" remarks indicate his willingness to ignore what the intelligence community is telling him. Not what you want in a president.

What happened to VtaGeezer?  He's been MIA since the conventions.

No, VtaGeezer is an avid Trump supporter.  Paperboy is basically in the same spot I am.  We hate both of the candidates but one of them will be chosen so we have to vote for who we perceive is the lesser of 2 evils.

I was wondering the same thing, but, of course, I couldn't remember his nickname.  I hope I didn't make him leave because I kept telling him he a complete moron.  On the other hand if he left because whenever he wrote 'the media makes up all this stuff about Trump because I've read the real truth about Trump" and I kept challenging him on it until it became clear that he was making it all up that he had any thing that contradicted all of the well known facts about Trump, then good riddance to him.

I'm sure it's 99.9% certain though that he left here for things that had nothing to do with me.

Jackstar wrote that as well. Actually, he linked to some article that he claimed backed you up.

If you believe that there are neo-Nazis in Ukraine in any large numbers or are part of the government, then you are also either misinformed or are a Putintard.

You'll get no apology from me on this.

It's the opinion based on international law.  It's the same thing as when the W. Bush Administration illegally invaded Iraq.  Of course, since it's impossible to prosecute them, at least while they're in power, it really is moot law.

I just hope he's ok.  He is a self-described geezer and I'm worried about him.  I have had sharp disagreements with him but I don't wish bad tidings on any one.  Well, maybe there are a few people but none on this board.

I meant good riddance that he's no longer posting here, that's all.

It's not really very surprising to anyone with even subaverage observation skills why the Pubs nominated Trump:

"A large number of Louisiana Republicans think President Barack Obama is to blame for the federal government's poor response to Hurricane Katrina, according to a new Public Policy Polling survey released Wednesday -- despite the fact that the storm occurred three years before he took office.

The Democratic-leaning polling firm, which provided its results to Talking Points Memo, found that 29 percent of Louisiana Republicans said Obama was responsible for the Katrina response. Twenty-eight percent put the blame on President George W. Bush, whose administration did in fact oversee the federal response to Katrina. Nearly half (44 percent) of the Louisiana Republicans polled didn't know who to blame."

Only because there was no option for those 44% to choose Hillary.

Misinformed, not likely but possibly - I like to keep an open mind and try not to be too dogmatic about things, but I am definitely NOT a Putintard.  Here are more sources, it's not like I'm pulling this stuff out of nowhere.

Svobada had a fascist beginning when it was founded in 1991, but the general view of most non partisan Ukrainian political observers is that it had morphed into a very conservative/populist  but non fascist party by 2012.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svoboda_(political_party)

Oleh Tyahnybok certainly said those things attributed to him, but those aren't what he ran on in 2012 although he was barred entry to the United States in 2013 for his past anti semitic comments.

In 2014, Svobada lost all representation in the Ukrainian Parliament as it failed to receive the 5% threshold.  There is no party in the Ukrainian Parliament that now fully represents either conservative/populist positions or fascist positions.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainian_parliamentary_election,_2014

It's also not fully honest to say that even if you consider Svobada to be a fascist party that the United States was supporting fascists in Ukraine. At worst they were supporting a government that had a junior coalition partner that some consider to be fascist.  In an ideal situation, it might be an easy argument to make that the United States should not offer support to this government as long as it had this junior coalition partner, however, we don't often get to deal with ideal situations.

So, I'd say your claim was,at best, a half truth and in saying that the United States was supporting fascists you were throwing out this half truth that Putin propagandists like RT use.
