You seem to not understand even the basic fundamentals of our legal system or Constitution. You confuse State laws, with Federal laws, regulations versus laws, Civil law with Criminal law, differences between State duties and Federal duties, and just about everything. Which, I can forgive, since you are foreigner that, for whatever, weird reason, is obsessed with another country. In addition to State laws and decisions on the subject and State FOIA and "Sunshine" laws, for the Federal stuff, on both sides, are governed by Nixon v Warner Communications, Inc (1978) and the national FOIA laws (amongst others.) The idea is that the public has the right to know about government proceedings and legal actions.

I guess we could (some would argue that we already do in cases of "terrorism") have some kind of secretive Star Chamber and no public access to records but it would entail more than just a "government change the law" but some serious Constitutional Amendments and/or a real backtracking by the Supreme Court and them overturning centuries of common-law precedent and erasing almost all the history and precedent of the federal system of government and law.

My bad, I confused it up with this: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/employers-banned-seeking-criminal-history-checks-article-1.2253845

There has been discussion in Congress of federal legislation similar to this 'ban the box' legislation.

I apologize for making the mistake.  It was stupid of me, but like you said, U.S Law is not an area I have large expertise in (though both Canadian and American law are based on the same British code, outside of Quebec.)

I may get back to the discussion on the housing issue if you're interested and if I have the time.

Exclusive: Trump surges in support, almost even with Clinton in national U.S. poll
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-poll-idUSKCN0Y21TN

QuoteDonald Trump's support has surged and he is now running nearly even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party's presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.

The results could signal a close fight between the two likely White House rivals as Americans make up their minds ahead of the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama. As recently as last week, Clinton led Trump by around 13 points in the poll.

In the most recent survey, 41 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, and 40 percent backed Trump, with 19 percent not decided on either yet, according to the online poll of 1,289 people conducted from Friday to Tuesday. The poll had a credibility interval of about 3 percentage points.

And this polling was done pre-Rato dropping out.

Yeah, there is talk of enacting this policy in my city. The interesting proposal, which seems just like  burden on costs, is that it is only on the initial application in which the criminal question would not be able to be asked. So, under the proposal, you could get to the interview (or whatever process the particular company uses) and then be forced to admit you have a criminal record and the company could not hire you. I guess the theory going if you can get to a face-to-face you can prove you would be a good hire versus being thrown-out out of hand initially. It could be the case, but I'm not sure about mandating it. I could even see a situation in which a company could get an employee at a cheaper rate because of his conviction and might take a gamble if it was long in the past, he had skills, etc. I think a business should be able to hire whomever they wish. Again, same with the housing. But I will say if a local area wants to experiment (like with rent-control,  anti-discrimination, section 8 and criminals into good neighborhoods, etc) I'm not above allowing that if the voters approve it (in my ideal world though only land-owners should be able to vote on issues, like bonds, zoning, annexation, ETJs, MUDs, or other restrictions/changes in jurisdiction on property they own.) But certainly don't like no top-down, universal, Federal mandates on every aspect of life, property, and business.

The talking heads are saying Mass. may be in play in Nov....that's why she is doing this...but once again, it only drives support to Trump...WINNING!

I keep reading that she's in strong consideration for Hillary's VP pick but why would you have two militant leftist establishment white women on the same ticket? That's a recipe for disaster.

They're also saying Castro's a prime pick but with his recent destroy rich affluent neighborhoods nonsense he would be fish in a barrel.

Think about Biden and how he was a perfect counter balance to Obama. Neither of those two are a decent counter balance for Hillary.

Tucker Carlson made a good point...Hillary is losing big time with white men...so big in fact she may never be able to win the election...

I find that a little insulting. Aside from Union members, feminists and certain sects of the latino population, I can't think of anyone who stands to benefit from Hillary.

Mark my words, Trump is going to cut a deal with a prominent black leader and it's going to be major headlines when one of them come out in support of him once the Democrats cluster settles down.

Louis Farrakhan already has endorsed Trump.

So far this entire campaign has centered around a 68-year old woman's vagina.

You are exactly right...everyone is focused on Hispanics, but his approval ratings with African Americans is solid and growing quickly...I could see exactly what you suggest happening soon...

Yeah, because that's all women are fit for eh? Roll on the 19th century.

It's Hillary and her ilk who keep making it about her gender and demand that woman blindly support her.

Madeleine Albright said that there was "a special place in hell" for women who chose Sanders over Hillary.  ::)

I wasn't the one who mentioned a vagina. Hence my response. Unless of course the only thing women are fit for are lying on their back (or all fours-or bent over tables) and being fucked?

You're a gentleman as always, YP.

No, I don't think that's all we're good for- we're also good at making sandwiches and fetching an ice cold beer.

What about washing up? You overlooked that, and making beds. And scrubbing the loo. One day perhaps they'll be given the vote, when some namby pamby liberal commie oik decides they're fit to decide who leads the country. But until then; women. Know your place, and accept a spanking when your master decides you need one.

Noooo; Read what you put, and then my reply. You said her campaign centered on her vagina, you're the only person I've read who has mentioned it. Is it because the only reason any woman has any status of any worth is because they have a vagina, or in spite of them having one?

Why would I ever think that?

Quote"Women's rights are human rights": It's true in every language. Hillary's trailblazing rallying cry from the 1995 U.N. Conference on Women in Beijing has been translated into six languages. Get yours today, and make a statement wherever you go.

I think women should be adult enough to stand on their own virtue or ideas without having to constantly cite what's in their pants.
