How can you trust Warren? She won't take a DNA test to prove she is native American? She used that status for acceptance and financial aid in college.
Because her ideas are valid and right on target.  I don't care what her race is.  I don't believe in quotas, and if they're there people would be foolish not to take advantage.  I went to school with kids who sold drugs to put themselves through college.  That's certainly a great deal more serious than saying you're an Indian.

So because some women weren't confident enough to ask for what they thought they were worth in a bygone era, I should vote for Hillary Clinton?

Yeah, that's it! Women lack confidence and deserve whatever lower pay they can handle.

It does, eventually. But the pains of demolishing the old system and building whatever new economy results will be globally painful. The fact is, our economic system is going obsolete.
I don't know what the old system will be replaced with.  When there are fewer jobs and the population grows and the jobs are in the more professional areas while the kids are being born into low income homes.

I can't see anything other than a controlled economy of some sort, putting income in the hands of the masses and distributing jobs, maybe with 4 hour days.

Holy shit! If I'm stuck in 1985, you're definitely stuck in 1885. You just keep protecting those buggy whip makers by God. They're going to make a comeback someday and we'll have the market.

Seriously, stick with science fiction. Obviously reality is not your Forte

Actually, I'm stuck in about 2035 and seriously concerned about it. You should be too. There is every indicator that technological unemployment is the most serious problem the world will face in the 21st century. We already are facing it, automation is set to outstrip job creation within a decade. This isn't a future problem, this is a problem that is already here and growing. Feel free to ignore that if you wish, but it will only serve to drive you deeper into obsolescence. That's the problem with social conservatism as an ideology, it isn't dynamic enough to survive now and has no way of reacting to emerging realities.

Oh shit, who cares about Cruz.  Donald Trump is far, far more entertaining. Did you listen to that phone call?? I mean, that shit still has me laughin'! And then he goes on CNN and says it's not him. He never did that and it doesn't even sound like him. Hahahahaha OMG.... I can't wait to see what SNL does with this.
The phone call itself is innocuous but Trump will get some gas for denying it was him if, as reported, he admitted to it when it happened.  I heard it and didn't think it sounded like him.

Trump has a problem with thinking before shooting from the hip when answering media questions.  He's made himself way too accessible compared to his opponents.  CNN and MSNBC have staffs dedicated to preparing gotcha questions for DT calls and appearances in hopes they can turn some inconsequential crap into an issue. I think he forgets the media hosts have an earpiece and are being fed questions from a flow diagram-like matrix.

I think its notable that despite 10 months of this kind of assault, things this phone audio are the worst they can find on such a supposedly despicable and evil character.  Never has a major candidate faced such a media lynch mob.

Why is it conservatives always presume to demand everyone else prove themselves?  "Show me your birth certificate", "Take a DNA test", "Sign my asshat Loyalty Pledge", (ok, I paraphrased that last one).  On what basis do any of you presume to be the arbiters of who is, who can, and who does?  What the hell are your qualifications?

No, wait, I feel the smug, sanctimonious piety coursing up like vomit: "Why, we're strict Constitutional constructionalists who believe in unicorns free markets, ending handouts to coloreds, limited government, and not paying any low taxes!"

Seriously, really.  Who do you think you are?

The employer of these retards. Considering Warren is a busted compulsive liar who lied her way into an academic job, you don't think it's kind of naive to trust her?

QuoteBlond haired, blue-eyed Elizabeth Warren, who listed herself as “white” when she taught at the university of Texas in the eighties, suddenly launched herself into a lucrative and prestigious career in the Ivy League after she began claiming minority status. Her $300,000 a year Harvard salary, her former position in the Obama administration, her victory in the Massachusetts Democratic senate primary raceâ€"all of these things were obtained on the basis of a lie Warren told others about herself. For now, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, she refuses to admit the facts about her false claims to minority status.

I don't think it's at the lynch-mob level yet. That will come. For now, it's a true media circus with a guy who sort of needs them more than they need him. If Caitlin, for example, does change her mind -- not that there's anything wrong with a woman's perogative to do so -- the circus will highlight another act. The show must go on.

You're an elitist because you think your socio-economic status entitles you to deference and that your's is the one true path.  And, no, you don't know how government "is supposed" to work.  It isn't a mechanism for you and yours to entrench and abscond with this society's wealth and happiness.

The law is based on tribal rolls and lineage.  DNA isn't in the picture.  When I lived in WA,  I knew a few blue-eyed fishermen who got Indian salmon licenses by discovering great gramps was a Salish even though his name was Ivar.  I've said before that if it meant he could get a easy permit to build a hotel, Trump would find his Indian roots too.

Wow, that's pretty intense liberal babble. It's also pretty presumptuous and elitist to make assumptions on other people and believe they should conform to your world view which is a bunch of buzz words.

You don't believe people are supposed to control the politicians? Because if you do, you just invalidated your own argument. And if you don't, well then you quite frankly have no idea what you're talking about which we can already infer from your parroting of progressive hivemind nonsense.

That hasn't stopped the Clinton's either... All their wealth came from their connections in government...

Bill got $800,000 of government funding for his mistress's company from his connections...

Beside so many scandals or alleged scandals and corruption so numerous I can't list them all here some effected people directly in real, acute ways, like giving them hepatitis:

And allowed connected parties to sell HIV/Hep-tainted blood to places like Canada and the UK. Literally vampiristic, taking blood from Arkansas prisoners and profiting from it.

Yawn.  Really, this is old hat.  You cons physically type in the drivel I quote yet you try to turn it around on me.  You actually say the elitist shit I argue against yet, in a preparatory school manner, try to play turnabout.

My world view is a bunch of "buzz words"?  Like "downsize"?  "Streamline"?  "Outsource"?   Oh, no, those belong to conservatives.

QuoteYou don't believe people are supposed to control the politicians? Because if you do, you just invalidated your own argument.

Not in any rational or demonstrable way.  I guarantee I believe people should "control the politicians" more than you; one of the reasons I feel this way is precisely because the "Good Ol' Boy" Southern states are preemptively jumping ahead to legislate ever more discrimination.  Get government out of our bathrooms!

QuoteAnd if you don't, well then you quite frankly have no idea what you're talking about which we can already infer from your parroting of progressive hivemind nonsense.

Another classic conservative constraint: the "If/then" qualifier.  Create your own argument for which I have to qualify myself and, barring that, am invalidated.  Talk about "hivemind"!  Welcome to the Conservative Babble Bubble!

Amazing how many of the former GOP candidates reneged on the pledge they made to support the nominee.

This thread encapsulates one of the things I like most about BellGab; when it comes to politics, there are a variety of views presented and people seem to feel comfortable telling their ideological adversaries to fuck themselves.  Gets me all teary eyed.

It's like talking to a cult member who starts rambling mantras whenever their beliefs are challenged. For someone who believes everything is a social construct it's pretty funny how you believe there's only liberals versus conservatives. The mental gymnastics this guy does to obfuscate the original point which he lost and now throwing buzzwords to try to show his intelligence. I also enjoy this idiot's smug elitist view of the world where he knows more than anyone who disagrees with him and that's his argument even though he's can't demonstrate it.

that's because the pledge was only intended to protect them from a trump third party run.  at the time the pledge was formulated, it was assumed by almost every member of the "establishment" that trump's candidacy for the nomination would fail and he'd then face the prospect of taking it elsewhere.  they never imagined a future in which the pledge would be applicable to them.

MV/Liberace!

oh, and pledge or no pledge, the bush family clearly believes they own the republican party, so there's that, too.

Right, because your "strict constructionalist invisible hand of the free market" dogma is totally grounded in empirical sanity.

Surprise me!  There's someone else?!? Don't tell me someone went and woke up the "moderates" somewhere!  They may actually spend thirty seconds contemplating these issues before stumbling back into their somnambulant avoidance policies.

The shrieking histrionics of the conservative who tries to declare victory!  Again, you're the one who accused me of a "buzz word" philosophy yet supplied none, whereas I went and served you up some of the very criminal ones you and your fellow cons endorse.  Own it.

I enjoy even less the existence of sanctimonious prigs like you and your misanthropic tirades against any who would dare question the crumbling shale firm bedrock of your core "principles".

You're right, ya got me!  I'm hailing you as a "liberator":

Your original premise was that liberal politicians are not to be questioned. To which I mocked you and said as their employer you have every right to question them. To which you've gone like a hour into ranting about some weird boogeyman in your head and trying to flaunt your intelligence to distract how stupid your initial point was.

I'm also amused you think there's only two political views and that you keep trying to shove me into one of them when I'm not a conservative. And by your measure anyone who isn't as progressive as you is a conservative.
