President Donald J. Trump

Started by The General, February 10, 2011, 11:33:34 PM

I don't understand the acceptance of the Rs that no Democrat in the House or Senate is going to ever vote on any legislation the majority puts up for a vote.

Trump and the prominent Rs should be hammering away every day about the do-nothing, obstructionist Democrats, talking about them not having any new ideas, etc.  Make their Party look even more out-dated and out-of-touch than it already does.

Don't just concede votes on legislation.  Ignore those from solid Democrat districts and states, but focus on the others and make it uncomfortable for them to vote against the agenda many of their constituents want (of course one important step is offering good legislation, and these health care bills Ryan and McConnell came up with are horrible)

Right now I'm at a location in Central America where internet access is spotty and I want to go on record before I lose connectivity again:

TRUMP PUBLICALLY CASTIGATING  A MEMBER OF HIS CABINET IS JUST FUCKING STUPID--PERIOD, FULL STOP.  THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR IT NOR IS THERE AN UPSIDE.  IT'S INDEFENSIBLE.

"PRAISE IN PUBLIC, CRITICIZE IN PRIVATE" IS A BASIC TENET OF LEADERSHIP.

Which tells you almost everything you need to know about Trump.

... Who had a better chance a winning? Cruz? Never would've happened, too conservative. Rubio?...

Well, it's true the same people who said Hilary would win said Cruz and the others couldn't win.

I think it would have depended on the campaign they ran.  Cruz's problem wasn't that he was too conservative, it's that he doesn't appear likable or flexible.  I would love to see an outsider run, at all different levels.  Donald Trump wouldn't have been who came to mind

Why don't we encourage those issued the wrong gear at birth to join he military by offering them a penis removal and prosthetic vagina (or the reverse) upon their successful completion of boot camp.  It is really beyond the understanding of you professional victims of society that some things are vastly more important than accommodating the desires of habitual malcontents and agitators.  What have you done for your country lately?

Stop trivializing the legitimate struggle for civil rights by equating the desire for gender reassignment.  I don't know a single black person who would do that and you might even get yourself tuned up if you suggest that to some African Americans I know.

Maybe one of those 3-D printers can make you a dick.

Trump and his foolishness?! The Republicans you seem to admire and respect so much are the fools, duping people for 8 years with repeal and replace when they never had any intention to because they're in bed with the Dems and they're both in bed with the insurance industry. Enjoy the establishment status quo you elect back to office in 2020!  ;D

I have made it clear that most Republicans in DC are worthless.  McConnell was the idiot who said he would have Obamacare repealed.  He has always been worthless and there are many others like him in DC.  I've called for his resignation and the resignation of every single Republican who campaigned on repealing Obamacare and now don't want to follow through on their promises.  If Trump really wanted to impress me, he would simply call for a full repeal now and start working on a new bill that replaces it.  Instead he seems content to settle for tweaking Obamacare and not signing a full repeal.  Trump, McConnell and Ryan will call it a repeal but it won't be.  All we get is doublespeak from Republicans in DC.

I was a Cruz man but he has a rather sanctimonious quality that doesn't go over well with many people.  Many people think he looks like a crooked used car salesman.  I look past that and judge him by his accomplishments.  I don't think he had a chance to win but who knows going up against Clinton.  Snidely Whiplash could win a race opposing Clinton.

Here's why you're dreaming. The Republicans didn't win, Trump did. If the Rs had ran there usual warhawk, corporate shill hack we'd be dealing with a Hillary Clinton presidency right now.  ;)

Again, you put people in those categories that don't belong in them.   Oh and speaking of corporate shill hacks, how many has Trump recruited for his administration?  Hmm?

No, I'm not. You seem to think some other typical Republican candidate could've just as easily won as Trump because of some grassroots conservative swell. The Republicans won because of disillusioned Democrats, like me. However, if the Rs had chosen to run someone like Cruz I just would've abstained and Hillary would've won. :D

It really does.

The thing is, this shouldn't be anything new to anyone.  This is who Donald Trump has been since he's been on the scene for the past several decades.  He simply does not have the temperament to be a leader, let alone a president.  For that job doesn't one have to be, I dunno, at least somewhat diplomatic at times and able to work with others to get things done?  This isn't a company, where the boss just dictates and people cower, scared for their paychecks.  And it isn't a reality TV show, where asshole behavior is expected and encouraged.

I really don't know what people who supported this clown in the primaries thought they were getting.

You do know a lot of people voted for Hillary because they hated Trump. So you are wrong there.

Well, so far that would be Ryan and McConnell.  The rest haven't been offered a bill worth voting for

I still find myself going, "Donald Fucking Trump is President!  What kind of Twilight Zone world do we live in?"  If you told me 4 years ago, Trump would be the next President of the US, I would have laughed in your face.  Not only is he President but I voted for him since the alternative was even more reprehensible.

No, you don't know what would have happened if another person won the nomination.  None of us can say for sure what would have happened.

I'm not happy to be right about it.
You act like you've split the atom. This chaos was utterly predictable, even if the electoral result was not.

He simply doesn't respect the institutions and he knows even less about them.

Yeah, but that place is getting crowded with naked feral stoned immaculate people nowadays.  Kieth Richards opened a chain of B&Bs there just last year.

If Hillary had won,  I would have started making plans to emigrate to Costa Rica. ;)

Speaking of impotence....

The pathetic Senate is making a desperate last ditch effort to throw shit on the ceiling to see if something sticks. This will not result in a "better" healthcare bill. Losers.

The GOP have less interest in decent affordable health for all than a maggot has for live meat. They should just be honest and admit they're wanting massive tax cuts for the CEO's of the insurance companies who benefit from astronomic insurance policies. Stop pretending to give a shit about the people.

We could on for many, many pages on all the waste, riduculous funding, and corruption in government and military. But here is a nice one.

"the Pentagon needlessly spent millions to license a proprietary camouflage pattern that replicates lush forests. Most of Afghanistan’s landscape, however, is desert, and the Defense Department owns dozens of similar patterns it could have used free, the report said."

Better Care Reconciliation Act
1. Repeal and replace amendment
Procedural vote failed on Tuesday
YES 43 -   NO 57

Obamacare Repeal and Reconciliation Act
2. Partial repeal amendment
Vote failed on Wednesday
YES 45 -   NO 55

Has anybody actually heard Trump give specific of what he actually wants or his ideal plan? I heard him saying vague stuff like "It will be great" and "it will bring cost down" but I never actually heard him say any provisions. I might have missed it. But then he also said we must repeal and replace immediately changed to repeal and replace isn't important, he even said keep it as it is and he keeps flipping back and forth depending on the hour.

Congress does hold a lot of responsibility, but Trump certainly didn't help his cause in trying to take credit for other peoples work and then quickly throwing them under the bus (See: Trump "mean bill" quote for the house bill) I don't know how anybody would go out on a limb for him (see: Sessions)
