As long as we're talking about TV shows I want to cast a vote for the Rocky and Bulwinkle Show.  Wry, often adult and self deprecating humor and amazing characters:  Boris Badinoff and Natashia' Dudley Dooright of the Mounties and Nel, etc.  It was a classic.

It was. And odd time too -- late Sunday afternoons.

It is a neat statute and certainly adds to the NY architecture and tourism but I never understood why some The Statue of Liberty is given such reverence, over our actual history, founding legal documents, actual history, Founding Fathers's writings, etc. It was a relatively late addition to the country, given to us from France and financed by a yellow-journalist's campaign for donations, and the famous poem inscription (added later, I might mention,) written by some quasi-socialist Zionist poet. Still these papers showing beheading of the Statue, or like the Irish paper, showing a bullseye, as from a rifle's scope, on Trump, is a bit questionable or at least in poor taste. But understandable considering the violence seen in those countries by terrorists of Muslim or Irish types (I recall that the IRA helped the Palestinians perfect the car-bomb and also were involved with certain large South American terror/drug groups in the past.)

A similar and familiar female symbol was aparently common since the founding, particularly around 4th of July from later 1800's for sure. The French Rev's "Marianne" is related as well. Bunch of 19th cent images here:

Thanks for posting that. The "Enoch Gridley Pater Patriae Memorial for George Washington" is really interesting, lots of symbolism and neat design. Mount Vernon is a cool (you lead me to look it up again and apparently they have restarted GW's whiskey distillery now! Awesome. I'm going to make a point to visit and pick up a bottle upon my next visit to the area.) Places in the DC area are nice and I like that they keep the height etc downtown and The Mall so that the traditional buildings and monuments aren't overtaken by high-rises etc like happen in other cities sometimes.

It is interesting how different cultures think of their nations or countries (or even things like vessels.) I'm sure there is some arm chair sociologist, or real one, that has written on that: "fatherland vs motherland," ships as "women," storms as female names (we changed this recently due to political correctness,) "lady" liberty or justice, and etc.

Actualy, here's the best proof -- the coinage. This is 1853 gold US (pattern was in use since 1840). Even says "Liberty".

For those who need some perspective on making these unconscionable comparisons to Hitler in particular:

Quote
The idea of comparing an American president to Hitler is just as absurd …from any angle, in any context. The American system ITSELF pretty much prevents “Hitlers” from showing up. And America ITSELF is anathema to what Hitler was trying to create. An American ANYTHING or ANYONE is hard to fit into the Hitler model. It’s just not apples to apples.

The tradition of Goddesses and (Female) Muses of "Good" things, is, well, Classic. And the Goddess of Widsom, the highest of these. [even Mary is she, some say]

If we were more clever in all the planes (civilian or military) we, collective we I will include other NATO countries here, sell to various Muzzies and other countries would have some hidden master switch buried in the hardware or some lines of code in the firmware that if they are used against us, or as a missile themselves, we could disable- or even redirect- them. For years I've had suspicions that all of this "stuff," parts, chips, etc imported from various Oriental countries could have that type of thing in them.

At the same time also classically (and in reality sometimes,) often, a symbol of duplicity, disruption, stealth, deception, or due to no fault of her own but simply due to beauty and jealousy of men: a source/cause for many a fight or war, loss of kingdom, change of focus, original sin, strife among gods, loss of power, and so on.  ;)

I can't even think about that right now.

I am too upset about American freestyle wrestlers not being able to wrestle in Iran.

I mean, wow.  I....I can't even believe this is happening.  All the times I defended Donald Trump.  To see the fruits of my defense of him be turned to mush, with the reality that sweaty men wearing tights are unable to enter another country to roll around on the ground with other sweaty men wearing tights.

This is too much to bear.  I need some time.

I....I.....I'll be in my safe room for awhile with my coloring books, soft music, and warm milk.
