I'm in the middle between norland and MD when it comes to Putin.  I think he is a leader to be respected but the US must be wary of him.  Putin is in it for himself and Russia in that order.  I think we can work with him but we must not cater to his whims.  We have our agenda and he has his.  He does seem to have some ambition to restore the Russian empire and we must always confront him when one of our Eastern European allies feels threatened by him.

Effectively, providing a slave labor force to corporations while providing a nice cash cushion for those fortunate enough to be a part of the bureaucracy.
