Ideas for guest hosts for MITD

Dateline

This would be fun.  Have open mike night or open auditions to find the next Art Bell or as close as is possible.

Not sure if this is a serious idea or just more tomfoolery but if it's serious, what about someone who is sort of established, like that Spaced Out Radio guy? He doesn't seem to be doing too much but he keeps plugging away.

Dave Scott of Spaced Out Radio is working pretty hard to grow his radio show. So I doubt he would become MITD's new host considering all the work he has done the past couple years.

But perhaps if Dave guest hosted then his show and MITD would sort of merge on the nights he did guest host. That might work but I don't know what sort of magic Keith would have to do  ;D

Spaced Out Radio airs 7 days a week for 3 hours a night and begins the same time as MITD. Dave takes the majority of weekends off and has other hosts filling in.

All their shows are free to listen to and/or download. I usually check out their Spreaker page to download shows that interest me https://www.spreaker.com/show/spaced-out-radio-show

Overall it is a pretty good show. Sometimes I get the feeling though Dave is multitasking a little too much during the show and that can interrupt the flow of the program.
But the guests are good and he also has some guests that drop by regularly, whether it is once per month or bi-monthly, so that adds a little bit of consistency.

Dave announced last night that a local investor has made a deal with him and they will be upgrading the studio and making a run at turning SOR into a bigger show.

When I have listened it did sound like he put a lot of effort into the show, maybe that's why he came to mind. But you are right about sounding distracted sometimes. I just assumed the show was getting in the way of his surfing for Internet porn.

Boy, it's really stuck in there deep. Isn't it?

Heather Wade.

Too soon?

They really need to just rebrand the show with a new host. Change the name, change the look, change the atmosphere. Unfortunately, that's a lot of work for Keith to do- so I can get why he's trying to band-aid it for now.

That's what i thought too, but he reads twitter comments and social media the whole night. It comes off as awkward. If he had a bigger audience he could do actual calls I suppose. I gave up on his show after a while though..he is about as nutty as heather, those alien stories he came up with every week eventually got on my nerves and some of the "regulars" he has are so fucking awful like the paranormal investigator facebook group & the weird skype staff meetings episodes i just never felt like i was getting anything new from the show after a while.

I was serious about Tsoukalos. He gets alot of crap from internet memes, But  I can see him holding decent conversation for a show like MITD.  I never really held in in high regard, until he hosted  "In search of Aliens", I found his hosting style to be very enjoyable.   I know TV shows and Radio shows are different beasts.

I'm not saying he would want a lot of cash... but he would want a lot of cash.

Tommee could do it. I see it now. He asks his guest a question, then passes the 3x5 card over to George to ask the same question his own guest. Screening calls for George doesn’t take much time.

haha I think he frequently gets distracted by interacting with the Spaced Out Radio chat room. He takes a lot of questions from there to ask his guests.
Full disclosure though, I have never listened to show while it was live and I've never checked out their show's chat room.
But the listener gets a sense that the chat room seems lively and is an important part of the show.

That's some of the reason's why I have never heard a live show and just download past shows that interest me.

Even though Dave's been at this for 2 yrs or so he still seems a bit green.

The nutty stuff you mentioned is certainly not exaggerated. It gets wild.
But I don't mind the regulars he has on. I find it a bit charming in a way.
I haven't heard any staff meetings, but that sounds dreadful haha  ;D

Wait? What?  He has staff meetings on air?

George Knapp
But Heather publicly insulted him on Facebook, so I don't think it would be a realistic wish

SpookyTim

I'm not shy about the fact that, if it was open, I'd want it. I've been hosting my own similar show for 12 years. It's time I stop being complacent, and start kicking some ass. Spooky Southcoast has to go next level. Even if Art wasn't still actively hosting a show, I feel there's a void now, and I need to fill it. That's not ego. That's just my gut.
