This coming after sports reporter Erin Andrews was awarded $55 million for a far less shocking surreptitious nude taping. (Obviously still a bad invasion of privacy though it hasn't hurt her career at all.) Both, obviously, are very bad and the people need to be punished but the amount of the awards seems to be a bit crazy. People actually hurt at work, raped, injured in other methods, etc get way less in civil suits (often, sometimes, limited by tort reform and worker's comp.) It is simply a matter of them being celebrities (and so 'damages" potentially worth 'more' based on their earning potential, hiring better attorneys, the 'power of the media' to skew juries in their favor, a way for juries to try to 'fight back' against this kind of secret recording and the media culture that promotes it--- and, likely, many view, if they don't admit it, or just based on the actual facts of the case(s) ?)

When far worse happens (nobody was raped, killed, or maimed in these cases) and you don't often see that type of verdict? (Though there are cases of that.) Simply because of their celebrity status, the lawyers know there is some deep-pockets or insurance company, people wanting to 'send a message? (if so then why is TMZ, shock internet porn sites, tabloids, or whatever Gawker is- so popular, likely with you- jurors?)

I believe Gawker violated a few court ordered injunctions by not removing the video.

The whole process Gawker thumbed their nose at the judicial process, believing that simply cloaking themselves in "Free Speech" would protect themselves.

Everyone at Gawker is SJW degenerate with little to know understanding of consequences or the law.

Hulk Hogan is simply a vile, odious person.  When his teenage son crashed his car at a recklessly high speed after drinking, leaving his passenger paralyzed for life, Hulk told his son something to the effect that his friend must have been a bad person who pissed off God and that his grievous injuries were most likely divine punishment. Seriously. He also ogles and gropes his own daughter (see a few posts above).
