I started a twitter account mocking Snoory and all of a sudden I have a bunch of followers. During Christmas break I've been getting non stop emails notifying me that Joe Moron is following GEORGENOORY on twitter.

1. You all ready said too much.
2. Be careful what you write and say because if it is false or illegal using the public carriers such as mail, phones & cell phones, internet, Tv, radio, a simple offense turns in to a Federal Offense as all those carriers are under Federal jurisdiction.
3. Make sure you know what you are doing and that people know it is entertainment only be careful I say this out of concern for you as twitter is not the same as using this forum.

Well it's simple, really. Twitter is a place where you fantasize that other people actually care about what you're doing or what you think. It's sort of like Myspace or Facebook for people who have absolutely nothing better to do.

Actually - Twitter - "gay" though it may be (and I assume you mean "lighthearted and happy" here  ; ) has a serious, practical function.  My favorite example is one I read a month or so ago of a man who was frustrated with tech support from one of the larger companies out there (HP?  DELL?  -- don't recall) and so posted his question on Twitter.  Not only did he get good advice from the Twitterers, but he got direct, and very quick, contact from the company in question.  They helped him out, and went above and beyond doing so.  This was presented as just one expample of Twitter's impact on the marketplace.

The moral of the story?  People read Twitter - lots of people.  And some compaines employ people to do just what was done in this case - watch for thier compainy's name, and take action. 

I think that's pretty impresive.

Creepy as some of those sites can be - it's all in how you use them. People, and people who may be importatnt to you (including potential emplyers) read those sites.  Which reminds me - I have to change my profile fast.  I need more than one persona on there unless I want to end up looking like a slapped ass.

If we are frustrated with the host in general do you think PremRad would take quick and effective action?  I read the initial page link, but have not become familiar with all of the intricacies of the site.

Although I did not quote about the legalities, I think attention should be paid to that.  You know Noory and his inner henchmen.  They are mean and they will let nothing stop them from the protection of the reputation of George.  There have been lawsuits threatened at other websites and if they could I think they would try and take you in.

Of course, everything I have posted here is in fun and entertainment, just like Coast is all in fun and entertainment.

As I get the BA at long last - and apply for grad school, with technical communication as my specialty, and help both my son and DIL with the same process - I'm in a fair postion to know what I'm talking about.

Now, if you want to know if I think it's a good thing, a fair thing,  a wise thing, or any of that - I'll tell you it's not relevant - it just is.

If you are looking for a job - Hide your identity on those sites OR make 'em look good.  The details of how depend on your field.

And oh, BTW - I'm not saying that's WHY places like that are created, only that it's one of the ways they are used.

I have no doubt that some professions would do a search to see what is out there on a person I question as to what the percentage is? If anything I would think that it is very small and limited to certain professions at most.

I agree that those type of sites are a treasure trove of information that never disappears no matter if you delete or deactivate your account.

I understand that but as Noory is a public figure and can claim that his public image has been damaged by your parody and you are still in the shit and he does have people that do monitor those sites for him. I am just suggesting caution as they only have to imply he was damaged to bring a suit and you're screwed because court is so expensive if you are not a corporation or municipality. The first step would probably be them asking you to stop in all likely hood before any legal action would be started, good luck.

Well - Twitter is bigger and commercial - which may give them more reason to kiss GN's butt - however, that's not the legal reasons.

If you notice - we're careful here when someone impersonates a pubic figure to make it clear it is NOT them.  This site is for the purpose of parody, critique and commentary.  That may give us a more defensible position under "fair use."

Few people would come to George Noory Sucks without at least some suspicion that it's somehow edgy.  Not so Twitter.  Lots of people, of all kinds, go to twitter.  You've used a head hot of Noory and his name. 

As Centurian suggested (if I understood him) it's likly that the first line of defence will be that you will be asked to remove the site - or that Twitter will just do it.  So, I don't think your're in grave danger.  But, if Snoory is as litiinous an ass as some say, you never know.  My guess woud be that the worst you coud expect is threats and agrivation.  But - I'm not a lawyer.  What little I know about intelectual property law is what i need to know  as a web developer.  (Which really only mean i have a few clues - and ideas aobut what questions to ask - and where I may be able to find the answers.

I am not a lawyer but work in the law field that is about all I will say on that and that I am giving you my opinion from cases I have been on and a fact I know about Noory as Ms. EvB has stated he is litigious of his public persona because he is such a lame ass host. Do you think he does all those rinky dink gatherings for free if so think again my dear. My main concern since I have not read what you sent on Twitter is that;

1, You are using his likeness on your page and his name that may or may not be copy righted, I do not know if you are posing as a George Noory or not but it can easily be construed as such since you reference C2C realted people from what I can see.

2. Relax I just wanted you to know that words are not always free in our society and I wanted you to think about admitting on here that it is you. I am involved in too many cases that just ruin people finacially for less than what it is you may or may not have done.

3. If and when Noory finds out about it I am almost 100% sure they will just ask you to stop as that is the cheapest way for them and you it also gives them a "good faith" act to point to if in fact you do  not stop and further bolsters their case.

4. Be proactive and send a Twitter out that says you are doing a parody and that will help protect you if it ever progressed into something more.

5. My concern is for you only not Noory he can go die for all I care but he is an evil and shallow person and has went after small fish because he can bully them around, that is my opinion only.

i think we're getting all hot and bothered here over nothing.  FG, if it were me, i wouldn't sweat it.  the twitters you've sent thus far seem to me to make it clear that you are in fact not the real george snoory, for if you were, you wouldn't be saying things like, "Sucking at my job on Coast to Coast AM."  haha

just dive in, go for it, and if there are problems, deal with it when that time comes.  i think you'll be fine.
