I know it was and I actually bought 2 copies of it.  One for my brother and one for me.  I listened to it once and I was thinking, "Why, Bob, Why?"

Yes he was and I think he still has one foot in that camp.  He's never repudiated his faith that I know of and he still sings some of the songs he wrote during that period.

He doesn't do any of his "born again" stuff. Not that I know of. Not for a long time. Most of his setlist is Love and Theft to present with a few 60s songs as encores.

I'm sort of glad he covered the religious tunes but the arrangements were poor.  Better to strum on his guitar and sing them than have an orchestral arrangement with a choir backing him.
