Why the fuck would you take your cat camping?

That's the most intelligent question I've heard all nite.

That kind of makes me sad.  There was a time when sesame street would not have sold out...  I know- I'm old.

Pre-Elmo Sesame Street was the best.  That and my avatar had a great positive influence to a kid in the 70's.

Aaaaand that's why I stopped even visiting that FB group.  I just stay here now, when I'm in an AB mood, hah--old ladies who tell angel stories and take their cats camping run exactly the kind of group you'd expect.  It's ounces of fun.

She had one good "I hate you" caller tonight and she cut him off.

Yep, sounds like the "I hate you" challenge was to get people to call in and tell her how much they love her. Better off just not doing it.

Art was the master of that bullshit.

so basically MITD is Dreamland only not as good. this is what ive decided

MITD is only as good as its guests. The guests mostly suck.  It's not like Limbaugh or Alex Jones etc where people are really listening to hear the host.

henge0stone

Most of her open lines shows I've heard have all been disasters. Listen as someone with thin skin tries to pretend she has thick skin and have people insult her. Maybe shes trying to break up the horde of "your great!" annoying calls. She really needs to change the format, stop speaking like Art and maybe bring in a co host that she can interact with. But she doesn't take any criticism well so she won't do this.

I couldn't sleep, so I caught the first hour or so of Open Lines. What I heard was steps away from a meltdown. This is clearly not working.

If you're going to invite trolls to call you, there has to be some sort of witty retort from your end. I did not catch the one zinger she (apparently) had, but one laugh per show is not enough to carry an Open Lines night. If you aren't going to make the negativity entertaining, don't invite it.

And don't blast people for being "rude" to your guest if he's a fraud and you're in the process of turning on him. Having a "Real John Titor" line the next night is cringeworthy. At least give that wound some time to heal.

Maybe next week she could have a "Constructive Criticism" Line. Just leave that one off the hook.

Art should just call up Sirius/Cumulus and negotiate a weekly evening slot. Enough already.

Not picking on you henge0stone, but suggestions like this always leave me shaking my head in bemusement.  Under what circunstances would someone agree to play second banana on a live, late-night internet radio show  on a "network" that is literally on life support, hosted by at best an inexperienced, and seemingly overwrought, amateur?  Taking that gig would probably require an initial investment in broadcast equipment, yet knowing full well the job can't play much, especially if you are talking about having the co-host just one (open lines) night a week.  My read on such a position is it wouldn't be much use as resume fodder, and would draw wanna bes, bottom-feeders with little chance to positively affect the show.

Fair enough, I guess the candidates are lining up as we speak.  Proof once again you get what you pay for.

Well I defiantly don't see your comment as 'picking on' me so don't worry about it. These are legitimate questions. I'm sure someone out there would love to sit in as a co host. There are people out there who still like the show (according to open lines anyway) so surely someone could be found. Imagine someone like Jaz in there to lighten things up a bit. Heather might be more natural if she had someone to work off of. In the Gabcast she had much more personality and this is probably because its hard to have personality when you have no one to work off of. Some people can do it but not everyone.

I guess it would be hard to find someone doing the job 5 nights a week, maybe she should cut the schedule back to 3 days or have two rotating co hosts. Honestly aside from Art I think most shows are better with two hosts.

The show is awful. The Art Bell vocal imitations are worse.

I listened for a short while last night...observations:

1. I was not entertained at all. There was nothing interesting or funny from either the callers or the host.
2. The tone from the host was one of aggravation and contempt for the audience.
3. The host has a distinctive, "vocal fry", which is annoying and unprofessional.
4. I would much prefer to hear a random, quality focused talented host/podcast than a nightly inferior host/program.
5. MITD either will grow or shrink into non-existence. It seems that is clearly the latter.

If you enjoy the show, great. However, the reality is that I cannot see how this type of program can survive in a competitive marketplace.

This has been mentioned on many other threads too. Alright peeps, sound off. Would you like a male co-host for Heather (point - counter-point), or a female co-host (watch the lesbian rumors fly.)
Come on now - get real.  When Art co-hosted w/ Heather, there was no end to the fucking disparaging remarks here.

Personally, I think a co-host would add to the show, as long as they didn't try to dominate the program. Heather takes lead, when she hits a pregnant pause, the co-host kicks in.

This would work good until she gets her sea legs - so to speak.

I think a male co-host would be worth a try, but they would have to have a sense of humor.  You'd need someone who can have some fun, to give it some variety.  But I can't imagine it would ever happen because I think it would be like admitting defeat.

and I say male not to be sexist, but...add another (inexperienced) woman to the mix of the show and I could just see the trolling being even more extreme.  Also, having two sexes just makes sense to me, if they were going to go the co-host route.  But what do I know, I'm just a guy with a turkey sandwich.

Completely different situation though. Art has been solo since the beginning. Heather is a newcomer and still trying to make the show work.

Is this for real?
Psycho Lusha crowned a "representative from Art Bell's MITD radio show".

Bait and switch again?
YES, use Art's name.
They love to hear the name Art Bell.
THROW ART'S NAME AROUND A LOT.
