Yep, that is correct.  I think he could have been good as Gandalf though his heart may not have been into it.  Probably just as well McKellen was cast.

I'm really glad McKellen played Gandalf.

Hunh, trying to imagine him in that part. His voice would have added a different dimension to the LOTR.
Interesting.

But Christopher Lee was so perfect. Those were perfect movies to me

Interesting guest,
I still challenge the notion that we all chose to come here. Where is the root thought of this idea? Is it from Theosophy or turn of the century Spiritualism?

*Ask at your own risk, LOL

I dont rule them out, as you point out I have done them. Sometimes it is the length of the book, if its 2-300 pages there may be enough meat on the bones to do 3 hours. If it 140 pages, maybe 1-2 hours.

Then I look at some of the points like the guests ability to tell a good story, if they tell me in preinterview that they dont want to give away too much about their book or movie that will weigh in on how long I keep them as well.

DS

I understand completely and I concur it all depends how much meat is in the book and how much a guest wants to reveal.

You need a different cable, easily obtainable. If there is what remains of a Radio Shack near you they may have it. You can get it on Amazon, here's the url:  http://tinyurl.com/y73rbws7

You need a Mini 3.5 mm to Dual RCA male audio cable. It's inexpensive and is easily gotten on any audio site online in addition to Amazon. Hope this helps.

Oops, I should have said Mini STEREO 3.5 mm male jack to dual rca male audio cable, to be more specific.  ;D

Christopher Lee was also a huge fan of the Rings books.  He brought enthusiasm to his role.  I also think Ian McKellen understood Tolkein's appeal and I don't think Connery did.  I enjoyed the films but my wife was not as enthused.  She thought it was all promoting witchcraft and she had turned away from that some years earlier. :-\

Christopher Lee was also the only cast member that met Professor Tolkien as well.

Why doesn't everyone remember their past life?
Who was I?  Who was my mom or daughter in a past life...?

When I was 4 I did have a memory of being in the military and working one of those old switch boards they used to connect phone calls. I don't know if it was a memory of a past life or something I saw on TV.

That Avengers (Steed and Peel) flick he made was also pretty bad.  He was miscast in that one as the villain. I would have liked First Knight if they had gotten someone other than Gere to play Lancelot.  You don't cast Americans as knights or if you do they better be able to talk with an English accent.  I had the same problem with Kevin Costner as Robin Hood. Simply doesn't work for me.  Alan Rickman saved that film though.
I could never stand Gere's acting, and I haven't seen  the Avengers flick he did, but maybe I should check that out if Emma is in it.  ;)
Yeah, I agree that Knights need an Brit accent.

One should not use color terms, male/female, or slave/master terms or colored/shaped items when dealing with electronics. Offensive and oppressive and not inclusive.

You and me both.  He's just too casual an actor for me.  I need a bit more intensity from an actor.

Not worth checking out The Avengers.  Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman had no chemistry and they simply are not Steed and Peel.

Winnie kept telling Dave "more, man!" Or vice versa?

Well that is an interesting story Dave. I am glad he didn't say "Tell me about hell."

TigerLily

Aww. That almost made me tear up

I could do without that as well. LOL.

He was best doing a Russian accent.  ;)

Good to see you back, I saw the Quantum article in tech you posted but above my paygrade and unclear to me how it could work with high traffic and locations and all that 'stuff?'
Hi albrecht.  :)
Yeah, the article isn't very clear, but the 'spooky action at a distance' was the main gist of the article.
Did you see the HPC thread ?
I was going to drop a post in the spectre thread too, but I was getting tired, and my post was pretty nasty, so I deleted it
Let's just say a Pi cluster is a way to bypass the NSA hardware backdoors called Meltdown and S.P.E.C.T.R.E.  ;)
Funny they should chose those names - er - not funny at all, they're rubbing our faces in it.
Oh, a Pi cluster can be run as a desktop, hence the HPC thread mention.  ;)

Feh. Describes the cable, old school. <g>

albrecht

Always interesting how so many familiar names pop-up with these subjects.

starrmtn001

I like her outlook.  I hope you have her back on again, Dave. ;)

This kid should sign baseballs and sell them on eBay.

Yeah,  I just felt reincarnation was right ever since my youngest days but I also feel that much of Christianity is right too.  I don't want to believe in hell though.
