After years of doing radio I found a few things, most guests are NOT strong enough to do 3 hours of content and remain engaging.

I also know not all topics are interesting to every listener so instead of a full disconnect with listeners if we offer a bit of variety you may not like guest 1, but stayed tuned maybe the next guest is more your cup of tea.

I would also rather leaving you want MORE from the guest than to have the guest overstay their welcome. It is a disservice to the guest and the projects they are promoting.

As we see, calls do not always pour in in a 3rd or 4th hour so I think it is better to refresh and bring on another topic.

After all, if you were out and see the topic is 3 hours long and missed the first 90-120 mins you may not be inclined to listen in, BUT if you see there is something new starting soon it gives you a chance to jump in and has a fresh point to join us.

There are some guests that are worth the 3 hours particularly if it is a good haunting story.  Like I remember you did 3 hours on the Demon of Brownsville Road and there were a couple other shows like that several years ago which were very, very good in the long format.  Don't rule it out in the future. Please, Dave.

What was his last flick ?
The last one I saw him in was 'The Rock".
He may have done one or two after that, but I'm not sure.
How's the new system doing?

He was going to play The White Wizard in LOTR, but thought the fantasy stuff was stupid. It was a success, so he felt silly that he turned it down. That motivated him to take the lead role in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. That didn't really work out well for him.

One time I was reading by my big picture window. Middle of the day. I saw my cat fixated on a bird sitting in a tree. How cute, I thought. Then noticed there was a coyote creeping up on my cat. I ran outside yelling and clapping my hands. The coyote just gave me a bored look then finally sauntered away. My cat turned around, saw the coyote and streaked toward the house. Never saw him move so fast before. So everyone survived. Happy ending

Close call! I've heard, not witnessed, the coyotes esp coyote-dog mix coydogs will lure other domestic dogs out. One comes by "let's play" dog says "sure" then other yotes come out and dog gone. When they kill rabbits and young deer scary as F. One time I seriously almost ran out into woods by creek thinking some girl was getting raped/killed!  There was some deers killed. Mountain lions moving back in now also. Kitties got stuff to watch out for!

Hi Dave.
I like the bumpers.
It gives a different feel to the show.   ;)

Great DNA question, Dave.

Totally off topic but I need help and I know this place is filled with Audiophiles.

Its an emergency of sorts.

This may be (and probably is) something simple but since I'm not an audio guy at all I do not even know the proper terminology to search for this problem. Perhaps someone here could be good enough to help.

I just purchased a cheap projector for setting up a little movie theater in the basement and I have an old (but decent) Bose 2.1 system that I would like to hook up to the projector... The problem is, the Bose system has the red and white audio cables and the projector only has a headphone style jack- The small jack that takes a single plug.

I figured this would be easily solved by taking an AV to Aux cable (like in the first picture) and then plugging the red and white male cables (picture 2) into the female counterparts on the AV cable and then plugging it into the headphone jack... It SEEMS like this should work and it actually does to a degree but the sound only comes through one speaker and the Bass cannon doesnt have any Bass lol...I know the speakers work great because I use them occasionally in my bedroom with a Television and if I switch the inputs the other speaker will work through the projector- But regardless, I only have one speaker when setting it up like this and its really frustrating.

Everything ive tried to look up talks about soldering things and splicing wires and things beyond my understanding-

Can someone tell me either what I am possibly doing wrong or tell me what I can purchase that will fix this so I have the whole 2.1 range of sound with my new projector?

Thanks and sorry for the off topic but I want my shit to work and am trying to have a Lord of The Rings marathon tomorrow with some friends and all I have that is working with this fucking thing are computer speakers.

The League of Extraordinary Gentleman.  Bad CGI flick based on an Alan Moore comic book but it doesn't do the comic justice.
Okay.
Yeah, saw it a couple of times, and you're right.
I didn't think he was up to par in that flick either.    :(

Handed question, Dave? What hand are parents? Siblings?

How's the new system doing?
Final prep is complete.
I should be cruising in a day or two.   ;)

Wow! Whole other layer to this story

That Avengers (Steed and Peel) flick he made was also pretty bad.  He was miscast in that one as the villain. I would have liked First Knight if they had gotten someone other than Gere to play Lancelot.  You don't cast Americans as knights or if you do they better be able to talk with an English accent.  I had the same problem with Kevin Costner as Robin Hood. Simply doesn't work for me.  Alan Rickman saved that film though.

Hunh, trying to imagine him in that part. His voice would have added a different dimension to the LOTR.
Interesting.

Yeah... it really has me thinking or rethinking life.

Uh-oh,  you're breaking up again, Dave.

Dave sounding choppy here.

In a way I'm glad she going way of it is about her rather than the kid. Imagine pressure at school and Little League with your coaches, fellow students, etc that you are Lou?

Weird streaming problems now?

Yep, that is correct.  I think he could have been good as Gandalf though his heart may not have been into it.  Probably just as well McKellen was cast.

Sean92008

Sounds like, when he opened up the lines (well, he was talking about it, maybe he switched them on), it suddenly went Heathery.

Maybe switch during a break?

He was best doing a Russian accent.  ;)

Good to see you back, I saw the Quantum article in tech you posted but above my paygrade and unclear to me how it could work with high traffic and locations and all that 'stuff?'

You need a different cable, easily obtainable. If there is what remains of a Radio Shack near you they may have it. You can get it on Amazon, here's the url:  http://tinyurl.com/y73rbws7

You need a Mini 3.5 mm to Dual RCA male audio cable. It's inexpensive and is easily gotten on any audio site online in addition to Amazon. Hope this helps.

I dont rule them out, as you point out I have done them. Sometimes it is the length of the book, if its 2-300 pages there may be enough meat on the bones to do 3 hours. If it 140 pages, maybe 1-2 hours.

Then I look at some of the points like the guests ability to tell a good story, if they tell me in preinterview that they dont want to give away too much about their book or movie that will weigh in on how long I keep them as well.
