That's what he said. He had some kind of new hand held stereo audio recorder that he was playing with and captured the sound. He talked about it a bit in his usual way. Then some callers asked him more questions about it. From that night on it was always used. It bothered me a little when George Noory did his Art Bell tribute and mentioned the things they still use on the show that came from Art and then played the thunder but didn't mention that it was Art's own recording.
