Just because science can't explain something doesn't mean there's a God, it just means science can't explain it yet. Even now, science has explanations for things that are incorrect.  The caller asks what is the point to her having a soul, well, how does she know she has one?  What if science proved there are no souls?

If it was proven there was no God, people who previously believed in God would probably believe science was mistaken.  The loss of a belief in God would take away all the beliefs that bring them comfort such as a wonderful afterlife, the comfort of dealing with the death of loved ones by believing they will see them again in the "hereafter" etc. Just for starters.

I don't think humans are hardwired to believe in God. They believe in God because they are TOLD to, from infancy, with a future afterlife in Hell if they don't believe.
