Well, yeah, but then you might also have a reaction where nations try to nuke us and Russia to keep both of us from destroying the world by fully unleashing our arsenals. They might see it as a way to "cam us down" before we go too far and to let us know they're not just gonna sit back and do nothing. If they think it comes down to either that or total armageddon they might just say fuck it and let loose. A desperate effort, but they might try it. Keep in mind, we're talking the ultimate nightmare scenario here. Panic and desperation are sure to reign.

i think deep down their leadership isnt really willing to die in nuclear fire for their causes etc, what bugs me is how people assume that lets say France, UK, Israel, China etc would let their nukes fly just for the hell it
