I find interesting that a show on opiates and an addict who died from them is causing several people to quit listening to the show or, on the other hand, some people do more drugs and abuse alcohol to deal with it.

I dunno, I don't mind a show about drugs.  But that show was an overwrought drag.  Heather's had some good, even compelling shows.  But lately it feels sort of downbeat and gloomy.  Also there's too much current events talk - we already get enough of that in news outlets' daily spasms.

Maybe he is. I know that when there was still an ignore feature he was one Bellgabber that I'd put on and off ignore several times. He'd say something shitty and troll-like to me and I'd put him on. Then I'd come across one of his posts because someone else had quoted it and get a enough of a different perspective that I thought I must be wrong about the guy. Then he'd invariably be a dick again and I'd put him back on ignore; until finally I had to come to the conclusion that even though he often seems to be trolling there's usually a lot more depth and humor to his trolls than the average troll. So, I decided even before we lost the privilege to take him off ignore permanently. Like I said before, I came to see his outbursts in the vein of Rickles or Dice Clay rather than a serious attempt to simply be hurtful. I could be wrong and you could be right though. I don't really know anyone personally here.

I get the feeling he's actually quite smart, and possibly talking past people sometimes, which makes him frustrated.  This would explain why some posts are insightful and wryly humorous and others are just shock-value insults.

Perhaps I'm making too much of them but sometimes his posts seem like a whack from a Zen master's stick to me. They seem out of the blue and painful at first but they're meant to wake you up to the absurd subterfuge all around you and bring you back to the reality of the now. Vigilant of the slightest air of pretension, he likes to poke holes in our ego and remind us that we're already dead.

Most posters here are quite smart, but with that said i don't ever see anyone else attack the whole board as he does, one thing i do know is from the amount of shit talking he does online , he's probably never been in a real life fist fight, talking out of your ass as he does will get you hit in the mouth.
