Art Bell cancels show for good

I hope they catch whoever it is...I'm sure more will come to light about this. The dude's had a rough road for quite a few years, between his son, Ramona, et al. Hope he finds some peace before he leaves this World. I have nothing to complain about - it was free, right? Is the World a more interesting place because he's in it? Absolutely. I'm maybe a bit bummed because he came back so strong this time...With the Dark Matter debacle, he didn't really seem on his game sometimes, but this time I thought he did. Anyways, I found this place because of this go around, and that's a massive plus, so for me it's been a net gain. Love ya, Art & Keith!  <3

I don't think he's shutting them down. The email gives directions for unsubbing, and even offers refunds, but I think the subscription service will continue.

I believe there really was someone harassing Art.  I do.  But I also believe that for a few thousand dollars, certainly under 4-5, he could have an intense, over-the-top automated security perimeter around his home, and one which alerted for humans and not the odd jackrabbit.  I think the truth is a little bit of both what we've come to expect as fans and the his account.  I am almost certain that we definitely will not know exactly the whole story was.

I am very sympathetic to Art and his family.  Genuinely.  I am also sympathetic to people like Keith Rowland, who have probably invested considerable amounts of time and money which are probably going to be lost.  And I feel very sad because nomatter what, Art is off the air for good.  Sometime last week or the week before, I heard that the mighty KLIF had picked the show up again and he even commented on it.  The show was picking up incredible steam, something I hadn't expected.  But this event, whatever the cause, is the stone cold kiss of death for terrestrial stations picking up Art again.

This thing is not just dead, it's buried.  I'm grateful to have been able to play Art live for my 13 year old son, though.  That was my wish and Art made it come true.  Art, if you read this, I can't thank you enough for that one little thing.  I could see him pick up that spark and it was priceless.

Art was singing Heather praises adnauseum during a very recent show and that's when I suspected the end was near.  With the announcement that she will take his time-slot I'm convinced this was not a spontaneous reaction to terrorism but some other underlying issue than Art is unwilling to discuss.  It was cool to have him back and Art was on his 'A-game' for several shows (especially the Friday Open-Lines).  He should be remembered by those and not for others where shows he seemed to struggle a bit.  If there is anything to take from this it might be the reminder that 70 year olds (Hillary and Trump included) are intrinsically inconsistent and should not be relied on too heavily.

If someone unknown was stalking your house and terrorizing you, wouldn't the best thing be to catch him and find out who it is and what it's about? Wouldn't the best thing be to continue to do the show and have your hidden security people with night-vision lay in wait for him?

Nothing should be assumed. The only thing to do if someone is prowling and stalking your home is to catch him and find out for sure what is going on. Especially if you are a family man with a child that goes to school.

Over on Art's web page, he put up a photo of himself and his daughter. Very strange thing to do for someone who has a stalker.

And Art retorted hilariously on facebook but now is quitting again?  Norry and IHate win.    Sucks. At least we have archives, U7, etc. Maybe Bateman will take up the reigns and go daily? But this really sucks if true and not some kind of scam. How in the world would any radio station trust DMDN, or Art, again? Loyal listeners like us would but those running a business?Of course family comes first but still pisses me off (I don't think anyone in public view should talk about family, location, etc because too many crazies out there.) After all the history why post pics, talk names and family, location etc? I get, and appreciate, being friendly etc but too much risk (unless under corporately paid protection etc.) Radio hosts (and others) have been killed for less (Alan Berg, etc.) Hope they catch the guy/people and the harassment stops. And maybe Art even comes back in some capacity? Even a weekly or monthly podcast?
ps: how is the billing being handled for Time Travelers I wonder?

Shit- I went to sleep in my hotel room listening to the Michio Kaku interview for like 3 straight nights.... the interview was that good. And Art was apparently not on his game for that one (I thought it was great).

Arts predicament is just another chapter of the fact that too many crazy people have access to guns in this country. There should be a stricter check nationally on all gun purchases, plus a complete ban on assault weapons. This incident shows how just one nut case can spoil a wonderful scene for everyone, and put Art and his family  in danger.
