Disabling BellGab's "Ignore User" Feature

Started by MV/Liberace!, October 23, 2015, 08:16:18 PM

Is it ok if we disable the "ignore user" feature?  Please?

Yes
No

By the time a poster puts someone on ignore, they've likely had more than enough of their posts and gotten all the character and flavor they need.
That's too logical.

I voted to keep the function.  MV could make a sticky post saying that he will not receive or respond to complaints about it.  That way...

1. People who don't like it --- don't use it
2. People who do like it --- use it
3. MV ignores the ignore function and all PMs about it

No one loses anything.  Is that too complicated?

I'm all for it, because it hurts to be ignored.

And rightly so. Whatever we had is ignored. It's over.

And here's to hoping you can forgive me for you being so mean to me being a jerk to you in another thread ;) :)    Sometimes I'm a shithead.

Cheers? :D

I think I nearly almost, sorta kinda get that. Perhaps.

Reported.

;D

I can scroll past the people I don't care to read. I do a lot of scrolling.

I've never understood the concept of the ignore button. Just scroll, scroll, scroll, LOL!

The interesting thing I've seen on forums is a poster's need to constantly announce to the members they have people on ignore. To me, more exasperating than the person who demands he or she not be ignored (by not wishing for the site to have such a feature).

Scroll De Scroll De Scroll De Scroll....
Now why does that sound familiar?    ;)

Never used it. I use that little wheel on the mouse if I need to. Yeah, I'm still on a desktop.

I vote...wait, what? I forgot what we were voting for.   :P

I use a tablet when I read the live Art thread. there is a member who posts nothing but animated gifs and youtube videos and when there are a million of them being posted it lags like hell. It ruins the experience and it's frustrating as hell.

Agreed. I mostly use my phone to peruse the site and like to skip by 12 videos that are posted in succession.

I have an ipad that is less than a year old. When lots of gifs are posted, it doesn't keep up. I just take that as my spirit guide is telling me to not worry about those posts.

I am all for getting rid of the ignore feature, especially if it unblocks sending messages to some of our favorite members.

Sure but seriously some posters just get off on posting things like tasteless pics which cannot be un-seen, over and over and over.  It can become quite distracting to all the good stuff on the site.  These folks are obviously either oblivious to the most basic social decorum or they're just intentionally trying to provoke a response - in either case, if they become un-ignorable, the flame wars shall burn with the heat of a thousand suns.
Hey, I like MV's avatars, Zeeb.

Sounds a lot like roll, roll, roll.

Removing the ignore feature seems sadistic.

This is the best reason to get rid of it then. :)

Since I began using "ignore" on a couple BellGabbers, my faith in humanity was able to recover at least a few points. Without it, some threads have the ambiance of a backed-up stall in dive bar men's room.

I like the ignore feature. It makes for a smoother experience not to be dragged down by posters who annoy you. But I don't really care one way or the either.

Falkie would go ballistic if you dropped the ignore feature. You know what needs to be done, MV.

More so if you don't tell him it's implemented; then he'd really lose it when he fired off his pm to MV to ask why it wasn't working on his thread.

Make it so Number one.

Hmm.  If people don't like it, shouldn't they just not use it?
If you disable it, I vote that you also rename every thread so that it has something to do with Falkie.
For example, instead of the "Art Bell" thread, it could be renamed "Falkie likes Art Bell"
That should fix all the problem we have 'round here.

Fixed for accuracy.

I had two people on ignore on account that they were sending me annoying PMs. If ignore is disabled I don't mind scrolling past their posts but I'd prefer not to be contacted by them.

I just wish /reported would get implemented.  It has been promised for the last several releases, yet it still does not have the desired effect.

Art

Just put those complainers on Ignore, MV.  8)

You could use adblocker to block those gif sites, and specific images.    But it's way easier to just Ignore QM like we do.

Or better yet is oblivious and insists he doesn't see someone's post because he has them on ignore when he never really did. Probably should disable ignore at least long enough for that to happen.

I'd say keep it. There are problems either way, so 'do least harm' applies.
I totally agree with Bob, and for the same reason.

Please MV, keep it in.  Thank you.
