R. U. Serious?  Excellent job!  No wonder you've been holding that chainsaw for the past month.

Hahaha.  This one's not mine, but I wish it was!

Albrecht,

Without doubt, the term "fuck dumb" applies to you. Who are you arguing with?  You aren't even addressing anything I said in my post.  You're addressing a posting you fantasized.  Get a grip.

There are some transferable mini-guns out there.

Prices are in the "nice house" range.

...The larger question is why are so many people so enamored with big, bloated, unaccountable, unresponsive, all powerful central governments?  Why are so many otherwise intelligent people so eager to embrace the continual diminishment of the rights of citizens and the corresponding expansion of governmental power?
Well that's easy to answer, P*B.  It's because the government is very efficient, responsive, and just all around great.  The best thing of all is if you don't like your government, it's very easy to get rid of the one you have and just get a new one.  Take for example my DMV.  Oh, wait.  Well how about the Post Office, uh, well, never mind.  Hey, LV's pumpkins look marvelous, though.

After reading through the last few pages of this thread, Georgie, Yorkshire, and Dan will all be receiving a bill for my time and lost brain cells.

I think that some sort of safe firearm identification, safety, and handling training at a few points in the K-12 experience would certainly cut down on the minority of child gun deaths where children find a parent's or someone else's unsecured gun and discharges it.

Of course the other side of the fence rejects the idea as "letting the NRA inside the schools to train militiamen" or something.  The reality is that this type of injury or death happens far too often.  And mostly in inner-cities where the incidents don't make the suburban news either.

I don't think it's any different than training on what a lighter or matches could do.

Putin has already intituted what amounts to weapons training for all Russian youth.

Putin signs law reviving Stalin’s Soviet-era fitness standards
By Meghan Bartlett - The Washington Times
Tuesday, October 6, 2015
He hasn’t â€" yet â€" restored the old Soviet Union, but Russian President Vladimir Putin can at least revive the fitness standards of the old USSR.

The Moscow Times reported Tuesday that Mr. Putin has signed a new law to revive physical training standards that were once mandatory in the Soviet Union, promising rewards to those who pass the fitness tests.

The training regimen program, known as “Ready for Labor and Defense,” or GTO in its Russian acronym, is based on training and fitness exercises developed during Soviet times to standardize physical development in areas such as running, gymnastics, discus and javelin, swimming, skiing and biking, as well as shooting  and trekking skills.

The Russian Sports Ministry will determine the new standards for the fitness categories, under three grades for passing, and successful participants will receive a bronze, silver or gold pin accordingly. Training centers will be erected for Russians to exercise and train, and the total cost for the new law is estimated at 1.2 billion rubles â€" about $18 million.

The original GTO program was introduced in the Soviet Union in 1931 under Stalin, and before the final collapse of the regime in 1991, millions of people participated in it. A program to offer the physical standards program to members of the Russian parliament, the Duma, was inaugurated earlier this year.

Mr. Putin, who once lamented the collapse of the Soviet Union as one of the great geopolitical “catastrophes” of the 20th century, first floated the idea of reviving the GTO training regimen in 2014, telling national sports officials in March that it was vital to “develop mass sport” and “attract the vast majority of our citizens to take part in regular physical training.”

The original GTO program was introduced in the Soviet Union in 1931. By the end of the socialist system, millions of people participated in it. Russian health standards have lagged far behind the West in the decades since the end of Communism, plagued by high levels of alcoholism, heavy smoking rates and stress. The average Russian life expectancy in 2013 was 71.6 years, almost five years shorter than the average in the U.S. and European Union . . .

Ok you and I are thinking the same thing for once.

I think it happened, and it was probably just some kids looking for dark area of town to do a quick mag-dump and leave.  Probably had Mitt Romney in the car with them egging them on.

But it would put me at DEFCON 5 too.  At least for the short-term.

Yeah; I started the question with 'has' instead of 'have'... Shameful.  :-[

:)

But I don't know about anyone else, but if someone had been taking potshots (or a neighbour had reported same to me) at my house, I'd be onto the rozzers PDQ. Then I'd maybe tell the world about it, depending on if the police advised me to keep the lid on it to avoid any repeat/copycat. Especially so with a my family there.

You do realize that DEFCON 5 is like totally relaxed, everyone can take vacation ?

It is the lowest state of readiness. Kinda like Bateman listening with his earbuds, at night, while texting, on a NYC street.
