The space elevators are discussed quite interestingly in Arthur C. Clarke's 3001: The Final Odyssey

A fairly good read.

The story features a ring-shaped habitat in geostationary orbit around Earth, connected by four "towers" (space elevators) equally spaced around the equator. In the epilogue of 2061: Odyssey Three however, the ring-shaped habitat reportedly has six "towers" instead of four.

No, he is too busy building a wall around the USA. Sooner or later he will realize that immigrants could come in via the oceans. So he would need to block off the ocean front property also. Then he will realize that immigrants could fly in, so he would need to build a giant metal dome over the entire USA too.

Dust has pretty much been ruled out because its not giving off infrared.  An atmosphere would probably be the same thing.

Funny that part of my post that I deleted as controversial was questioning if other nations might build a wall to contain "The Donald" and lock him out of the equator... :)

There really does seem to be some logic to humans being told to not leave their planet again after going to the moon. All that momentum and technology led to... nothing.

We don't even have a space shuttle now and we're consuming ourselves with trigger warnings...
