Or like the Mossad, supposedly, has done sometimes to off a terrorist. A small charge that can be remotely operated and 'bang'- no more head of robber using phone. Or just emit a SUPER charge of EMF and fry the guy's brain. Kidding, that could get out of hand or be hacked. I hope you got checked out and are ok and feeling better, Bateman. And hope Art and family are recovered from the trauma of the shots. What a nutso night! I hope they catch the suspects in both cases.
I'm sure MadMan can spare a transformer or two to energize the fence.

I missed the live broadcast--usually I listen, but... didn't happen to make it up that late last night. His site is still down--however, shooting-related clips here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sI15Hh00CAQ

I just got access to the Time Traveler archive, so I'm listening now.

All Art needs to do is open a donut shop next door or across the road and he'll have 24/7 police presence. And all the donuts and coffee he and the girls can stand.

That video has been removed.
I still can't get into Arts site.

I just saw a FB post Art made yesterday, stating there would be big news on the show last night.

Was there a big announce to at the start?

Dr_Blue

I found this on facebook but I don't know if it is legit or not. Feel free to repost

During Art’s live broadcast of the “Midnight in the Desert” radio program tonight, gun shots rang out in his neighborhood. Police were called to the scene and it was determined that a subject had driven into Art’s neighborhood and fired shots near or at Art’s studio.

As heard on the broadcast of Wednesday’s night show, Art had interrupted his guest and started playing music while he went out to investigate the situation. He returned to the air and completed the interview on his program. After the show, Art was able to investigate the situation further.

The incident is still under investigation. Art posted on his Facebook page:

Ok, the police just left for the second time and the girls are asleep, so here is what I can tell you, about 10:33 PT I got a text from my close neighbor saying he had heard 4 or 5 fast shots that seemed near my studio, he thought they were from the street behind the house but did not see anything, then a moment later another neighbor lady texted me that she heard the shots and saw a car in the dead end lane in front of my studio fire 4 or 5 rifle shots at or near the house and take off in a mid size car. We will check for bullet holes in the daylight. The girls turned off all lights and hugged the floor. We are all OK but a bit freaked out. We have video cameras, but not recorded, that will change. Sorry for the scare but it was worse on this end.

We will post any additional information as we receive it and will keep you informed.

Dr_Blue

Hang in there Art and Familly.  Hope they catch whomever is Responsible.

The big announcement was that Art has a NASA insider who said the dyson sphere data has a 50% chance of being accurate.

Ok, in case the site goes down again, this is what is on that previous link>>>>

I don't know much about guns but a rifle capable of 4 or 5 quick shots would be a serious weapon, wouldn't it?  Not exactly kid stuff.

All weapons are serious, though not unusual to have a capacity of 4 or 5 shots quickly. Even an entry-level, cheap .22 can have much higher capacity than 4 or 5. (.22's can still kill and all weapons are serious.)

Like the other poster says, it could have been any sort of weapon, and they are all serious. Anything from a .22 pistol to a large caliber rifle.

I'd almost bet on it being a pistol, it's hard to hide a rifle.

...and .22 semiautomatic rifles can be had at Walmart, apparently.  Goodness, I am stuck back in my dad's bolt-action days.

Ok, you can really hear it.
I guess I know Arts voice pretty well.
At  1:18:35 you can literally hear Arts jaw drop.
Man, I hope this gets figured out... Too much stress, with his family there.

A lot of stuff can be bought at Walmart, etc. Still better to be a good shot than simply rely on capacity in many cases. And bolt-action has their purposes (larger caliber, usually more precision, less misfires, better made, etc.)

Yea, where were you?
I ate a pint or so of Graeter's and passed out.  Who wouldn't if they could.  Tell me that wouldn't stand up in court.

Very glad to see there are some real firearm-safety graduates to make up for those of us hicks who grew up shooting off the back deck.

the_peeve

Truly the perfect guest for such an on-air situation. I have great respect for Forstchen now for handling it so well and giving good, concise advice for Art as it was happening.

haha. If you only knew! But since I'm older and this is public forum I post that all weapons are serious, treat all guns as if they are loaded, and don't point at anything you aren't going to shoot. In other words I've turned into my dad and "do as I say, don't do as I do/did!"
(Plus I think the situation these days is more dangerous as kids find someone's gun but never grew up shooting or hunting but instead playing ultra-violent video games and think it is a toy or somebody "gets a free life" back if they are shot. Or something. World seems crazy.)

Last night, I was trying to figure out how he could electrify his clothes :)

Just to add my vote, one of my best friends took a (relatively gentle) fall one night on the U of W campus.  She was fine, of course.  THEN certain things began occurring that told her things just weren't right.  The doctors kind of blew her off (this was before the awareness and subsequent understanding of head injuries).  She ended up starting and heading the Washington Association of Brain Injuries (or something like that).  This has been AT LEAST 35 years and she still has to take measures not to exacerbate it.

Chances are Bateman is okey dokey, but MAN, get thee to a doctor to be sure!   >:(

I'm sorry to hear about your friend.  It sounds like she was headstrong and turned it into something positive.

That was a radio first -- man what the hell is going on?  I hope it was just random and not intentional.

Yeah, you're right... the whole mood changes there.  I missed it last night... listening to the replay right now... hope he's on tonight.  I'd like to see this energize him to keep going with MITD--he's gone off the air for less--but... I could really see it going either way.  Only thing that gives me hope is that tonight's guest doesn't seem to have been canceled, and he did say to last night's, "We'll have to have you on again," from the clips I've heard.  Only just giving it the first full listen, though.

J Neil Schulman lives in Pahrump.

Despite my having qualified years back for California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) I'm a bit too old with mobility issues for Art to add me to his security detail.

Your "show" sucks an enormous amount of ass. Leo is a whiny little shit. He is calling Art a drama queen because someone was shooting at his property. All class, that leo.
