Okay Brig, I can only infer from your silence that you continue to demure with respect to my proposal to change the name of this thread to "Brig's Brigade of Boisterous but Benevolent Bastards" or "Brig's Bastards" for short.  I do understand that you do this out of a deep sense of humility but I must let you know that your decision leaves me crestfallen and I'm hoping that you will reconsider the proposal at some future date. :'(

Kid, I always thought Bomar was a chemical engineer, my mistake.

Weedie,...

I went to school for nuclear engineering, nuclear physics, and theoretical mathematics, among other things...

I wanted to work at the PBR, Pennsylvania Breeder Reactor, then in 1989 Papa Bush closed the program down, so I slummed as an electrical engineer and a civil engineer...

Now I raise cows and make brandy, can't you see how my life is following a planned path...

I am so glad I listened to my high school counselor...

Bomar

PS: (I learned about running and fixing computers because I hated waiting for the IT guy... In the 70's and 80's college engineering profs said computers were a fade that won't last, that is why they were banished to the backrooms in the math building and offered only as electives)...

I like you just the way you are Bomar.   :-*

Kidnostad3

So BOMAR have you seen the video or are you coming up with ways they could have done it better?

Hey Brig,

Okay, I guess I better illucidate.  I've always wanted to be a Bastard.  You know, like the "Inglorious Bastards" or the "Battered Bastards of Bastogne" and when I saw my chance I jumped on it.  I really wasn't trying to embarrass you or put you on the spot.  Just a lame attempt at humor.  My bad.

Not at ALL!  It's just that Brigs Bastards wouldn't fit under the Radio and Podcasts Section.  8)

Well that's clearly a design error that MV should fix.  Can you take it up with him?  (Kidding again)

Bomar, I always knew you were the sharpest of all of JBs originals.
One morning Einstein was walking through beautiful rolling meadows and noticed that 3 cows were munching grass. What surprised him was that the cows had their heads through an electric fence mowing the grass that was on the neighbors field. The electric fence was supposed to prevent the cows from eating the neighbor's grass, but apparently they were not being effected by electricity. Diagram-1 fence ----------------------------------- Farmer | |cow1 | |cow2 | |cow3 | | Einstein A ------------------------------------ B ^ | [Battery +/-] Soon Einstein spotted a farmer walk by to the fence carrying a battery and he figured that the battery had probably died and so the farmer had taken the battery for charging and was returning with it. He was about to connect it to the fence. This also explained why the cows were able to eat with their heads through the fence un-affected by electricity. Soon Einstein takes up position on one end of the fence 'B' opposite the farmer. He watches in anticipation as the Farmer connects the battery at 'A'. The 3 cows jump and scream "MOOOOO". Now Einstein remarks to the farmer "wow...they all jumped at the same time". But the farmer remarks "nope, I saw cow1 jump first, then I saw cow2 jump and then I saw cow3 jump". Who is correct and why? Assume both the farmer and Einstein are equidistant from the center of the fence.

Weedie,...

Let me think this out...

My first assumption is none moved, when the battery was replaced...

Since when the battery was removed, or earlier with the dead battery, the cows moved forward and one cow stepped on the lower electric fence wire grounding the fence out...

Then they would have all walked through the fence and would have been inside the neighbors field...

In real life, a tree branch falls on the fence wire and then the fence wire touches the ground, the fence wire is dead shorted, (I do not use a battery, my zapper is plugged into the electric service, but when that fails) then all the cows are in the neighbor's field...

Now, let me think about your stupid, catatonic cows...

Weedie,...

My guess, I am solving so both are correct...

Einstein and the farmer are different heights, cows are the same height, different perspectives....

Einstein and the farmer are the same height, cows are different heights (shortest closest to the farmer), different observational objects...

Bomar

PS: I read the answers, true light moves faster than electricity, but the cows are in a section of fence less than 20 feet (normal steel verticals distance apart), if side by side and Einstein and the farmer are less than 100 feet apart (normal wood verticals distance apart)... so the difference in speed between light and electricity is negligible to none...

the difference in reaction time to the charge of electricity is thus - cow #1 was lighter as she had just been milked, cow #2 had not been milked and was a little heavier and therefore slower to react.  Cow #3 had not been milked and was full of shit and stayed on the ground that fraction of time longer.  That's it, that's enough thankyou.  Next we move to cats - but you already know the answer to that one.

Coming up on a very special Halloween edition of The Gabcast...

I'll be joined in studio by two death industry professionals.  Matthew is a funeral home employee and an assistant to the Coroner's Office.  John has also worked in the mortuary business and currently works as an accident reconstructionist for a police department.  These two have been surrounded by death nearly their entire lives.  They'll be discussing all aspects of the death business, including what's done with a body after death.

The show starts tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 10:30PM East, 7:30PM West.
Listen live at UFOShip.com/chat
Call the show at 573-837-4948

Thanks!

Cubs haven't won a World Series since 1908 and haven't been in one since 1945. Tonight is Game 1 in Cleveland. Barring a rain out, I will be square.

Not my cup of tea Brig, I'd rather clean a toilet bowl.  Perhaps I am missing the fine points here.  Also apologies for being too scatalogically focused yesterday.

Maybe you don't know that MV owns bellgab.  He does a live gabcast once in a while for all the bellgabbers, and you get to hear other bellgabers that you know and love call in, and chat with them in the live chat room while all the bellgabbers are listening live.

Where would we all be if not for MV?  It was the subject matter that did not appeal Brig, certainly not that it was a gabcast.  I wonder who John will have on for his halloween show Michael Aquino?

Aquino is almost too creepy for even a Halloween show! Would be an interesting show.

There will be no Halloween Show this year ...  Halloween is on a Monday...

Bomar, congrats on getting bellgab in the comment section of CTM! I didn't think it was possible.
Hopefully a good program tonight, no preachers, or precious metal shills!
please.
