              Dude, I didn't expect anyone to get all insightful and zen in this thread, but ye have gone and done it. I know you were using the term zen somewhat figuratively, but when you mention getting to a place of bliss in your second paragraph, it suggests a more deliberate focus on the very real state of nirvana, satori, the great emptiness, etc. I would distinguish this, however, from a facsimile thereof in which appears freed from woe and worry due to not giving a damn. I would say that true equanimity, bliss, samadhi, et al, stems more from not giving a damn about outcome, about the fruits or action, etc. Remaining poised no matter if the full mama lode of fecal matter hits the fan.

That is a heck of an analysis...I appreciate the insight and thoughts. I found myself thinking a little of it today as I have a project coming to fruition over the next two weeks.  I am unable to "not give a damn", but I am able to worry a little less following the logic in your post.  It only works when actively thinking about it, but that is good enough...

         Right you are, guvnuh, and you are of course correct that one must bear these insights in mind, i.e., practice cognitive awareness of one's own thought patterns, reactions, behavior, etc., in order to benefit from said insights.

In fact, it's the world's reserve profanity and you would be very unwise to look at anything else, despite their meretricious attractions. Although we might suffer upturns and downturns with most other obscenities (I lost a fortune by speculating on the Argentinian Fuckit last year, and took a major bath in the nineties cornering the market for the Chinese Screwyoo), I always advise my clients to keep a ready store of Damns for a rainy day.
